Chapter 8 - Dragonscale Eagle

Long Xuan and Shi Hao returned to find the group of mischievous kids being held down by the elders, who were spanking them with paddles.

"You little rascals, always causing trouble! Didn't you know that Azure Scaled Eagle was not to be trifled with?"

"Dad, I know I was wrong, don't hit me anymore!"

The elders were spanking the kids, causing a commotion. They quickly ran to the village chief's house.

Long Xuan and Shi Hao had just returned, and the village chief told them to calm down. He began to explain, "A year ago, mountain treasures appeared deep within the Great Wilderness, attracting all sorts of ferocious beasts, even Ancient Descendants.

There was a fiery Vermilion Bird that swept past, scorching everything, and a monkey wielding a black iron rod that could cross several mountain peaks in a single step.

It was from that time that the Great Wilderness began to become restless." Just listening to the village chief's account sent shivers down the spines of the adults and children alike.

Long Xuan knew what that mountain treasure was. It contained two astonishing Treasure Techniques, but the Willow Deity was still recovering and likely wouldn't be able to obtain it.

His little face was scrunched up, his heart itching with desire. If I had my cultivation from when I was born, maybe I could... It seemed he could only wait and think of other methods.

Meanwhile, the other children were pleading, hoping their fathers would let them off the hook.

"Grandpa Village Chief, we brought back three Azure Scaled Eagle eggs. When they hatch into Ancient Descendants, we can keep them to guard the village with Big Green."

An elder shattered their dreams, saying, "Do you know how much food it takes to raise an Azure Scaled Eagle?"

The group of children were stunned on the spot. They had only been focused on taking the eggs and hadn't considered that.

Then Shi Linhu said, "Besides, you took its eggs, and the Azure Scaled Eagle is guarding outside. We can't even go out!"

The children followed Shi Linhu onto a high platform and indeed saw the Azure Scaled Eagle standing on a distant cliff, its eyes filled with a cold glare, staring at them.

The child's face was a little pale, and Little Shi Hao said, "Then let's give the eggs back to it. After all, the Azure Scaled Eagle's mother is also pitiful."

The old patriarch shook his head, directly denying it, "Even if we return the eggs to it, it might not forgive us and could keep staring at this place."

"We should still hand these three eggs over to the Sacrificial Spirit!"

The three jade-green eggs were placed beside the altar, with runes flowing and divine light flickering.

The dark Great Willow tree reacted, and a willow branch swept directly across the eggshells.

Outside the village, the eyes of the ferocious birds were filled with intense light, but they didn't dare to act rashly, deterred by the Willow tree.

The eggs, swept by the willow branch, shone brightly, and the runes began to become complete, their patterns more mysterious. Mysterious bone text power flowed, and the aura grew stronger.

Shi Yunfeng said in surprise, "The life force on the eggs is becoming more intense, and the inheritance may also be complete. Perhaps a reversion to the ancestors has occurred, and the bloodlines are even more noble."

Being gently swept by the willow branch caused such a thing to happen. The Willow Deity's power was indeed mysterious and unfathomable.

Long Xuan suddenly had an idea. He waved out a drop of crystal-clear, golden-glowing blood, faintly emitting a dragon's roar. Previously, that Azure Dragon had been greedy for it, but it was only a fleeting thought.

He directly poured the precious blood into one of the less obviously changed eggs. Immediately, golden light flashed, and a golden network and shallow dragon patterns were imprinted on the eggshell.

The villagers stared at the three drastically changed eggs, their eyes filled with fervent desire. If they raised them, they would definitely be war birds.

Outside the village, the Azure Scaled Eagle's eyes were wide, and beams of light shot out of them like streaks of silk. It could hardly believe what it was seeing.

It really wanted to rush into Stone Village, but seeing the willow tree, it instinctively felt fear and could only cry out incessantly outside.

That willow branch, lush and green, brimming with life, was clearly not very interested.

Shi Feijiao looked at the eggs with passion, "Should we keep these?"

The old patriarch frowned, saying, "Didn't you see that Azure Scaled Eagle? If we dare to keep it, we definitely won't have peace in the future."

"We have the Willow Deity's protection in Stone Village, but what about when we go out? The people in the village still need to eat."

In the Great Wilderness, the Azure Scaled Eagle is considered a top-tier predator, and there's no need to provoke it for no reason.

Shi Linhu said disappointedly, "Then we should return the egg to its mother!"

The others were also disappointed, but they understood the logic, so they didn't object.

Several people took up their weapons, carefully moving the egg and placing it outside Stone Village, then quickly ran back.

The light on the eggshell gradually dimmed, but the patterns on it didn't disappear.

The Azure Scaled Eagle saw the egg appear outside, spread its wings causing a gust of wind, and landed directly beside the egg, shielding it with its wings and carefully observing the two most obvious eggs.

Long Xuan was immediately very excited, letting out a long howl towards the sky. Sand and stones flew, and giant trees swayed.

Someone in the village shouted, "Quickly take the egg and leave!" They couldn't wait for the Azure Scaled Eagle to leave quickly.

The Azure Scaled Eagle also lost its hostility. After pondering for a while, it flapped its wings, directly blowing the egg to the side of the willow tree.

The people in the village felt very strange and looked at the clan leader one after another.

The clan leader was stunned, then stroked his beard and smiled, saying, "It saw the changes in its child. In the future, it will definitely be stronger than it, so it wants us to raise it.

The purer the bloodline, the higher its intelligence. The Azure Scaled Eagle's intelligence isn't low; it knows how to make choices, so it didn't take it away and left it to us."

Shi Yunfeng shouted loudly, "Are we really going to keep them?" The Azure Scaled Eagle nodded in a human-like manner.

With a spread of its wings, which were more than ten meters long, it shot straight into the sky, disappearing in the blink of an eye.

The villagers looked at each other, not expecting this outcome.

The village chief immediately ordered people to build a huge nest and assigned several people to take turns watching, waiting for them to hatch. These Azure Scaled Eagles would be excellent companions when they grew up.

More than ten days quickly passed. With a crisp cracking sound, a crack appeared in an eggshell. The emerald-green shell slowly split open, and a small, verdant creature rolled out. It was quite healthy, with shimmering scales.

The second egg followed closely behind, but when it cracked, it emitted purple rays of light, and its cry was deafening. The scales weren't green this time; instead, they were purple like flames, and its eyes were very lively, with more spirit than the first.

The third eggshell cracked open, and it was shimmering with golden light, with the faint sound of a dragon's roar. A little creature also broke out of its shell, and its scales looked somewhat like dragon scales. The edges of the blue scales had golden patterns, so it could be called a Dragon Scaled Eagle.

The group of mischievous kids cried out with joy, directly offering the cut meat. The three little Azure Scaled Eagles swallowed the pieces in one gulp.

Screech!

A long cry, and a fierce bird flew down, bringing a large shadow.

Then, with a loud thud, a huge object was thrown down, smashing a deep pit, and dust flew everywhere.

The dust settled to reveal a massive Unicorn Giant Elephant. Its single horn gleamed with a cold light, and its enormous body had snapped several trees. The head, as large as a millstone, had a smooth, round hole in it, clearly killed with a single blow, and blood was still flowing.

The villagers all understood the Azure Scaled Eagle's actions, which meant she was thanking them for taking care of her children. They marveled at her intelligence.

She glanced at her three young chicks and then happily soared into the sky, stirring up a large swirl of fallen leaves.

The children were very happy, and Shi Hao even gave the three of them some rather unrefined names.

"The oldest one is Little Green, the second is Purple Cloud, and the third is Little Gold."

This provoked complaints from the others, but they didn't make him change them. They let it be!

PS: The story won't always be set in Stone Village; the protagonist will also go out and venture forth.
