Chapter 7 - Can't Live, Can't Die!

Inside a well-decorated building near the north gate of the White Tiger Duke's Manor, warm lights illuminated everything in the room.

Some moths fluttered their wings incessantly near the Soul Tool lamps, unable to penetrate the glass cover. They could only see the light, never touch it.

"Manager Wang, that's how it is. That little bastard somehow hurt Chai San and then took the opportunity to escape."

The not-so-large living room had a few tables and chairs. Wang Cheng, the manager of the wood storage, sat there listening to the report from his subordinates.

Six people stood in front of Wang Cheng, and one person lay on the ground. The clothes of this group were all soaked. The person lying down was particularly strange; apart from their wet clothes, they had no other visible injuries, yet they remained unconscious.

Wang Cheng suddenly stood up, his small eyes seeming to brighten. "Are you absolutely certain that little bastard really attacked?"

"He really did." The six servants from the wood storage all nodded their heads vigorously.

Wang Cheng's eyes flashed with a hint of joy. He quickly walked toward a room behind a curtain in the living room. Soon, he arrived at a smaller room with few furnishings, but on the table against the wall, there was a very special object.

This object wasn't large. At the bottom was a square metal body, like a metal block, with some peculiar light patterns carved on its surface. A faint glow could be seen flickering within. On the left side of this metal body, a special line connected to it, extending upwards and connecting to a shelf at the top of the metal body. On the shelf was a very small, palm-sized rectangular 'box'.

After Wang Cheng entered the room, he quickly pressed the red button on the side of the metal body.

Immediately, a faint fluctuation of Soul Power began to pulse within this special object, radiating outwards invisibly like radio waves.

Then, Wang Cheng respectfully picked up the 'box' from the shelf and held it to his ear.

Time passed slowly. Wang Cheng stood still like a statue, remaining obediently in place, even though the box showed no change.

But after half a minute, a crisp "Beep beep" sounded, and Wang Cheng's eyes instantly brightened.

The surface of the seemingly ordinary box suddenly displayed a hint of dark blue luster. Following that, a low and impatient voice rang out, "What is it?"

Wang Cheng immediately spoke respectfully, without any hesitation, "Second Young Master, that little bastard just hit someone, and even ran away after hitting them."

In an instant, Wang Cheng seemed to hear a heavy intake of breath from the other side of the box.

"I understand. You've done well." The low voice was slightly higher.

"Thank you for your praise, Second Young Master, this is what I should do." Wang Cheng said with a fawning expression.

At this moment, the dark blue glow emanating from the box disappeared. Wang Cheng properly put the box back, and with a crisp click, the box was secured on the wooden frame, with energy seemingly being injected into it from below.

"Good boy, he finally made a move, we're counting on you to get rich." Wang Cheng rubbed his hands excitedly, then his smile faded, and he resumed the air of authority he had with the servants, walking out of the room and back to the living room.

"Steward Wang, did the Second Young Master reply?" Several servants immediately asked upon seeing Wang Cheng return.

Wang Cheng's expression was calm, and he picked up a teacup, then slowly sipped his tea, "Don't worry, if you follow this steward, you won't lack benefits."

Hearing this, all six servants smiled and said flatteringly, "Of course, we all know how good Steward is."

Wang Cheng glanced at the others, then looked at Chai San, who was lying on the ground. His brow furrowed, but it quickly relaxed, and his expression even turned concerned. "Quickly take Chai San for treatment. I'll cover the medical expenses."

"Thank you, Manager Wang. We'll take Chai San for treatment right away."

The servants immediately bowed in thanks upon hearing Wang Cheng's words. Their already excited emotions became even more fervent. They had bullied Huo Yuhao because of the manager's arrangements. Now that they were injured, the manager didn't blame them but instead offered to pay for their treatment. With such a superior, their prospects would be bright.

"Go on, go on, before the treatment room closes for the night," Wang Cheng waved his hand, his smile not reaching his eyes.

"Alright. You rest, sir, and we won't disturb you further." The servants quickly helped the still-unconscious Chai San leave.

After they left, the smile on Wang Cheng's face disappeared instantly. He flicked his sleeve and left the reception hall.

The White Tiger Duke's Manor was very large, and although the Inner Residence was only a third of its size, it housed all the members of the White Tiger family. Currently, the entire White Tiger family had around forty-three members, but they all lived on the outskirts of the Inner Residence. The most luxurious buildings in the central area were reserved for the Duke himself and his family.

Within one of the opulent, palace-like buildings, a young man with golden hair, clad in Flame Fox Fur Pajamas, sneered as he set down his Communication Soul Tool. He murmured to himself, "I thought you were a turtle, so patient. Who knew you'd resist? This time, I'll make you wish you were dead. That old man Chen Hongsheng can't stop me this time."

With a snap of his fingers, a wisp of gray air slowly coalesced, transforming into a figure that silently knelt before the young man. This figure was completely shrouded in a gray robe, obscuring their face. They were a member of the Secret Guard from the White Tiger Duke's Manor.

A raspy voice spoke, "Second Young Master."

"Go, take a few people and bring that bastard back. He must have run out of the Duke's Manor. With his Soul Master cultivation, he can't have gone far," the young man commanded indifferently.

"Understood," the gray-robed figure replied, bowing their head. They then dissolved into a wisp of gray air and silently departed the palace.

The young man stood up, his bare feet sinking into the warm, fluffy carpet. He walked to a glowing crystal table and looked down, picking up the only item on it: a special Soul Tool Envelope. It could only be opened with a specific method; forcing it open would instantly burn the letter inside.

The young man's deep blue eyes, which were actually double-pupiled, stared at the envelope. With a flick of his finger, a stream of white Soul Power entered the envelope. A simple flash of white light later, the young man slowly opened the Soul Tool Envelope and retrieved the letter within.

However, after reading the letter's contents, his expression immediately became urgent. "Big brother is improving rapidly, and he's older than me. If this continues, the future Duke position will definitely be his, and I won't have any chance. Looks like I need to talk to mother. I should also report to Shrek Academy as soon as possible."

Saying this, the young man, Wang Cheng, holding the letter, came to the fireplace. The flickering flames danced in his pupils. With a push of his finger, the letter fell into the roaring fire and was quickly consumed.

And then, his figure departed from the palace.
