Selene stared at the semi-transparent screen in front of her, which was her status screen, and wondered how she had seemed so lucky and unlucky at the same time.

The sheer number of notifications that happened in her head in that short amount of time caused her to have a migraine. This was the worst day of her life. She had no way to get in contact with anyone. Everything electrical is seemingly going haywire.

I guess we will be better off once this system thing takes hold. Tobez, are you there? I asked, worried I would ruin his chance because of my arrogant demeanor. Strange sounds started to pop up in the distance, it almost sounded like a howl of some sort.

Are you really gone, Tobez? Still hearing no response, I sighed. My hubris has probably cost me a companion that was fantastic and well-organized, and I screwed it up.

Suddenly, a voice popped back into my head, "That was very much not needed he laughed."

"Tobez, I cried, what took you so long?"

"I also had to let my new skills stabilize. I am still not at 100% yet, but I was able to ascertain that you needed some reassurance that you were doing the correct things. I will never be in a position where I can return the massive favor you have done for me." Tobez said seriously, "the gift you gave me cannot be accurately measured for recompense."

"As you might have already guessed, the system world is based somewhat on what you people would call a fantasy game such as Dungeons and Math Rocks."

"You probably don't know it is meant forever when someone gets their system. So when you selfishly waited until the last moment, I thought I was a goner but was wonderfully surprised with all these perfect notifications."

"I am now a divine system companion and quite literally anything at my disposal. While you might be flabbergasted, I have never seen anyone with so much potential as you have at your disposal now."

"If we combine our powers, we would be nigh unstoppable. Unfortunately, I am limited in what I can divulge to you until you meet the prerequisites to learn them, as they are locked."

"Our path will be the stuff of legend. The main thing that I ask is that we still treat everyone equally. That's exactly what I was thinking about. We must move quickly to hit while the iron is still hot."

Honestly, Selene slowly regained her composure, the chaotic whirlwind of pain subsiding enough for her to think clearly. She took a deep breath and assessed her surroundings. The turbulent events from the past week flashed before her eyes but now was not the time to dwell on them. She needed to level up her skills and find other survivors.

First, she focused on her **Class Active Bonuses**. The *Copy-Cat* skill would allow her to mimic another person's abilities—this could be incredibly useful if she ran into anyone with unique skills. She needed to practice with the limitaions of that.

As she envisioned the mechanics, she concentrated, reaching out with her mind to see if she could already begin honing it. This had the potential to be her best skill if she utilized it correctly.

"Tobez, how do I level up my skills?" she asked, still slightly shaky from the recent ordeal.

"You can level up skills by practicing them in the field or through specific training," Tobez replied. "Using them actively will improve them naturally, but you can also allocate skill points from your Class Passive Bonuses to enhance them rapidly. You currently have three skill points available from your Passive Bonuses."

Selene nodded. This was her chance. "I want to put a point into *Copy-Cat* and *Skill Absorption*," she decided, eager to ensure she was more capable before venturing out.

"Skill points allocated! *Copy-Cat* is now LVL 2, and *Skill Absorption* is LVL 2," Tobez declared.

With that settled, Selene checked the area around her. She took stock of her surroundings, using her **Basic Gathering** skill to see if she could scrounge anything useful nearby. A glance revealed a few abandoned items scattered on the ground—old weapons, broken armor pieces, and scraps of cloth. They all looked like valuable resources in her precarious new reality. After gathering what she could, she activated *Animal Communication*. She needed allies, and who better than the local wildlife? Selene focused her mind and reached out, trying to connect with any creatures nearby. "Is anyone there?"
