Touko was quite displeased, but there was nothing she could do.
Not only was the other party the vice president, but her strength also completely overshadowed Touko's.
As a mere succubus, she lacked the confidence and power to confront the first subordinate of a superior devil.
Their agreement was indefinitely postponed.
Watching Touko's reluctant expression, Haruto shrugged, feeling helpless.
He was just as bewildered.
Haruto recognized the beautiful girl with long black hair before him, but he didn't know much about her.
Tsubaki Shinra, a subordinate of Sona Sitri's, held the title of queen.
That was all he knew.
There were simply too many female characters in "High School DxD," and Tsubaki could be considered a minor supporting character; remembering this much was already impressive.
After Touko left, the atmosphere shifted back to awkwardness, now that it was just Aoiaki and Tsubaki.
"Vice President, what do you need from me?"
Haruto put on a polite smile and joked, "There's no rule against dating at the academy, right?"
Tsubaki shot him a glance, as if to say, "Is that dating? It's more like a chaotic entanglement of relationships."
With a task at hand, she got straight to the point. "No one is stopping you from doing whatever with that succubus, but there are some things we need to confirm first."
Haruto replied, "Please go ahead, Vice President. I will answer truthfully."
In other words, if I don't say anything, it means I don't know.
"Haruto Seishu, sixteen years old, 170 cm tall, 55 kg, entered Kuoh Academy's high school division in April, residing at the Takamine household, parents working overseas..."
After listing a bunch of Haruto's basic information, Tsubaki finally got to the main point.
"Three weeks ago, due to interactions with Reina Hamazaki, Yukina Sasaki, and Ruri Kurumizaka, you awakened the incubus blood within you..."
Tsubaki set down the documents and looked at Haruto. "Is everything stated above correct?"
Combining this with Touko's earlier conversation, Haruto finally grasped the situation and felt a sense of calm.
"Yes, but I should clarify that I only think I might have incubus blood; I'm not sure if I actually do."
Just in case, Haruto added a disclaimer.
Tsubaki nodded. "It doesn't matter whether you have incubus blood or not; as long as you possess powers that ordinary people do not, that's sufficient."
Haruto nodded. "Do you need me to demonstrate?"
"Sure."
Haruto gathered all his strength, lifted his right foot, and stomped down hard.
With a tremor, the ground cracked, and his right foot sank into the earth, leaving only his ankle exposed.
The recoil made Haruto grimace; his right foot felt swollen...
Attacking the Earth with all his might was a bit too ambitious.
If he hadn't quickly engaged all his muscles to absorb the recoil, his right foot would have been more than just swollen—it could have been fractured.
"Not bad."
To Tsubaki, Haruto's full display of strength was just so-so; even a casual spell from her would have more destructive power.
After saying that, Tsubaki raised her fair hand, and a small magic circle formed instantly.
With a flash of earthy yellow light, the cracked ground returned to its original state, leaving no trace behind.
Only Haruto's injured foot remained.
Aoiaki: "…"
"Vice President, could you help me with a healing spell?"
"Sorry, I don't know any healing magic."
Tsubaki said helplessly, "I didn't expect you to be so reckless. I originally planned to personally assess your strength..."
Haruto glanced at his swollen right foot, feeling like crying without tears.
It's better to rely on oneself than to rely on others; he felt it was necessary to quickly acquire a healing talent.
Being able to recover would make him tougher, which indirectly increased his combat power.
"This is the method for extracting magical power. If you can successfully extract it, regardless of whether you have incubus blood, you can join the academy."
Tsubaki took out a small booklet titled "Beginner's Magical Power Extraction."
Haruto limped over to take it, flipping through it briefly.
Hmm, the quality of the book was good, but the content was completely incomprehensible.
"Although it's the most basic, it's still a bit difficult to get started without guidance."
Tsubaki noticed the foolishness in Haruto's clear eyes and comforted him, "I'll explain it to you; just pay attention."
Haruto thought that not understanding didn't mean he couldn't use it; he could manage basic magical power extraction without this book.
Unaware of Haruto's self-satisfaction, Tsubaki meticulously explained some of the technical terms and tips in the book.
Things like magical power perception, mental strength, meditation time, and operational routes.
The obscure terms in the book, after Tsubaki's explanations, matched up with Haruto's previous experience with magical power extraction.
Haruto felt relieved; it was indeed the beginner's magical power extraction skill he had experimented with before.
Once Tsubaki finished, he obediently said, "Vice President, I've got it."
"Huh?" Tsubaki was taken aback. "You got it?"
"Yes, I got it." Haruto grinned foolishly. "You explained it so well, I understood it right away."
Tsubaki: This is music to her ears; she could listen to more of it.
"Understanding is one thing; successfully extracting magical power is what counts as truly getting started."
Haruto nodded obediently, looking like a good boy who had just discovered a new world.
"Can I try now?"
"Meditation requires a quiet place. For your first attempt at extracting magical power, it's best to be in an area rich in elements..."
Before Tsubaki could finish her sentence, she sensed the magical elements in the air beginning to converge around Haruto.
A successful attempt? Meditating while standing?
There were no rules stating that meditation had to be done sitting cross-legged, but this was a bit too casual.
One moment he was talking, the next he had successfully extracted magical energy...
Aside from those born with powerful bloodlines and innate magical abilities, Haruto was the fastest beginner Tsubaki had ever seen.
Something felt off to Tsubaki, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.
This was just the basics, after all. Maybe Haruto was simply gifted.
Haruto wasn't deliberately standing in meditation—his feet were swollen, and he didn't feel like sitting cross-legged.
He had tried it out on a whim, never expecting it to work so quickly.
After acquiring the skill of Basic Mana Extraction, Haruto had only tested it once, but once mastered, it became second nature.
Just like no one forgets how to eat or drink.
Haruto's extraordinary talent disrupted Tsubaki's plans.
She had originally intended to first ask about his ability to enhance female combatants, then wait for him to successfully extract magical energy and join the Inner Academy before verifying it…
Ahem...
"Since you've already extracted magical energy, report to the student council tomorrow."
"What for?"
"The Inner Academy is managed by the student council. After registration, you'll officially become a member."
Haruto scratched his cheek cautiously. "What are the benefits of joining the Inner Academy?"
Tsubaki replied indifferently, "First, whether you join or not, we'll still register you, and you'll still have to follow the Inner Academy's rules."
