Chapter 148 - Special Arc 1

"I thought that you don't have any job, Sister Yuki." Conan looked at Hikari Yuki curiously. Clearly, her image as a lazy yet gentle person has long been imprinted in Conan's mind.

"I have a part time job," Hikari Yuki replied righteously.

Being a member of the criminal organization can barely be considered as a part time job, right?

Even if it was not considered one, she also had other things that she had to do, which she could barely consider as part time jobs.

Anyway, she still has a relatively legal income as Hikari Yuki.

"Really? What is it?" Conan was curious.

He had never seen Hikari Yuki working before and looking at her appearance, it didn't seem obvious. More importantly, Conan felt that she never looked like she needed to work.

"Guess~." Hikari Yuki chuckled and messed up with his hair and then stood up.

She bid her farewell amidst Conan's resentful looks. This will definitely make Conan more curious, but Hikari Yuki was not worried.

In fact, she felt it'd be good if he knew her part time job.

A real part time job.

Brrt.

Hikari Yuki took out her phone and when she saw the content, her eyes darkened slightly. It was almost unnoticeable, but those who knew her personally will know that she's not in a good mood.

Hikari Yuki did have a job before joining the organization.

She's a bounty hunter, a mercenary or so.

Bounty hunters operated in a gray area. As long as they didn't commit crimes in Japan, the police kept their distance, though they would occasionally seek their help.

This was something arranged for her identity because it would be convenient.

After all, Hikari Yuki came from a poor background and lived in a relatively abusive family. She often got involved in fights and when she grew up, her parents died, leaving her alone with huge debts. In order to survive, she did various jobs and eventually stepped on the grey area.

There were no details on how she managed to get the sniper rifle, but she started to make her name in the dark web when she was in high school. And by the time she was noticed by the organization, she had already made some name in the dark web.

In fact, those were something that was half made up and the rest were a few jobs that she really took after adjusting her identity. She hadn't taken that many jobs before Gin bumped into her and forced her to join his organization.

Tsk.

That memory was not very pleasant.

Anyway, the experience before that was basically fake. The jobs she took were fabricated and such things had never happened.

But since it happened on the dark web, it's hard to trace it out.

And the account given to her was indeed created long ago as a back up by the Interpol. Why they made it before, Hikari Yuki was not entirely sure. But there were indeed records of missions completion there. This was apparently used by another agent before the account was abandoned and they changed some things to make it convenient.

She spent her first few days in her new identity to get familiar with the identity and the things she should have done on the dark web.

After joining the organization, she didn't give up this side job.

Even though she didn't usually take many of them because she was already so busy like a dog in the organization. But in order to do missions from the official agencies, she had to take some jobs from the dark web.

In this way, some of her strange actions had their source and reason.

Ah… it was really tiring.

Just like Amuro Toru was using his detective identity to investigate things and even doing his public security work, she was using her bounty hunter identity to work for the official agencies and even her Interpol work.

The main difference is that she refused to only sleep for three hours a day.

What a joke.

She needed her beauty sleep!

Six hours a day is the minimum!

The organization had already caused her to lack sleep because there were a lot of missions handed to her. Many of them had to be done in the middle of the night, making her feel as if she would become a night owl.

Added with the job from the official agencies, she wanted to flip the table instead.

Thankfully, they didn't really expect her to be available at all times.

Besides, her own undercover work was more important.

She still maintained that damn account.

But it has been silent for most of the time.

Now, there was a notification from the dark web.

That organization is going to be active once again. The same organization that once created bloody and cruel serial cases a few years ago.

It was a case she got involved in when she was in the police academy.

Reading through the record, she found out that she had actually been involved years before that. But because she didn't have any memory of what happened before, she could only use these records as reference.

After going undercover, she had dealt with them once.

Because they were not only active in Japan but also in other regions.

And Hikari Yuki conveniently took on a job that the official agencies posted against them. She also secretly took action, which caused this organization branch to be destroyed in that country.

They had no other choice but to retreat.

Unfortunately, she was already undercover in the Black Organization or the higher ups would want her to change jobs.

That made Hikari Yuki so speechless.

Should she be glad that she didn't have to go to another organization to be undercover?

Damn it, she will definitely go back to her original agency once she is done with this. She was really afraid they would send her to another criminal organization as undercover again.

Anyway, this organization has been silent ever since then.

They did a major cleanup as there were a lot of deaths in some places. Hikari Yuki didn't know the details because she was busy with other things.

It was only because she still has an account in the dark web did she know some of their movements. After all, it was not completely hidden.

As for the case they were doing….

It was a serial murder live broadcast. Some people suspected it was recorded in advance instead of a live broadcast, though. But in any case, there will be a link to a live broadcast on the dark web.

Whenever the link appears, it could be accessed by the majority of people who have an account on the dark web.

It could be said… they were providing entertainment.

Entertainment for perverted murderers.

Considering her persona in the organization, Sake would be someone who enjoyed such a thing. So no one ever seemed surprised when she watched their live broadcast during a mission before.

*cough*

They wouldn't know that she was actually giving orders to her ghost to investigate the position and hacked into the surveillance cameras.

Once she got information, she sent them to Karin and let them move.

That was how she managed to sabotage the live broadcast at that time.

But she was still too late.

The victim had died under the heavy torture and Hikari Yuki had to pretend it was entertaining and fun.

Who knows how much she was enduring not to gnash her teeth in anger and frustration.

The bloody colour seemed to tell her that her action was for naught.

Anyway, Hikari Yuki hadn't seen their live broadcast for a long time. One was because when she watched it the last time it happened in other countries that she couldn't involve herself in and the other was because she herself hadn't appeared on the dark web for a long time.

The reason why she connected it again was simply to check if there's anything else she could do.

She was taking a break from the organization mission.

And there were indeed not many things that she had to do in Japan.

Who would have thought that she would end up seeing this thing again when she went online today?
