With her engagement to Shuo Nangong now official, Rias had all the confidence in the world as she proclaimed her status as the main wife. Naturally, this didn't sit well with Sona Sitri or Akeno Himejima, who immediately declared their own "challenges." It took all of Shuo's diplomatic skills to keep the peace—and even then, only barely.
But then Rias dropped her next bombshell: she insisted on moving into Shuo's house, arguing that, as his fiancée, she ought to live with him. The idea caught on like wildfire. In the end, both the Student Council and the Supernatural Research Club ended up moving in as well.
Everyone, that is… except for Yuuto Kiba. He remained the lone holdout.
Of course, Devils never did anything by halves. With a wave of their hands, Rias and Sona covered all the expenses, turning Shuo's home into a bustling, lively mansion. At first, Asia was a little jealous, but after Shuo promised he'd always "cherish" her, her pouting faded away.
Shuo could only marvel: his harem was finally starting to take shape.
The days that followed were, in a word, blissful.
If it weren't for Sona and Koneko's watchful eyes, Shuo might have "devoured" every girl in the Student Council by now. One a day, easy. He hadn't expected Tsubasa to be so daring, either—especially when she and Ruruko, egged on by the ever-scheming Aika Kiryuu, decided to try a "sandwich" maneuver with him…
Yeah, Shuo thought, the future's looking better and better.
That was when the system's voice, long silent, finally chimed in again:
Ding! New sign-in character detected: Irina Shidou. Level: Green. Mission: Recruit as personal maid after faith collapse!
Ding! New sign-in character detected: Xenovia Quarta. Level: Green. Mission: Add to harem!
Shuo's heart skipped a beat. He quickly checked the map and hurried to the indicated location.
Standing in front of Kuoh Academy's main gate were two girls in distinctive Church battle attire. The first—tall, brown twin-tails, long legs wrapped in a black, skin-tight combat suit beneath a white Church coat—was a knockout. That had to be Irina Shidou.
Beside her stood a girl with short blue hair, a single green lock falling over her forehead. She wore the same uniform, plus a massive, cloth-wrapped object slung over her back. Her curves were just as eye-catching as Irina's—this could only be Xenovia Quarta, another heroine of this world.
Shuo grinned. So, the Kokabiel incident was about to kick off.
He strolled right up to them. "You two planning to stand here all day in those getups? Not worried about causing a panic?"
The sudden voice made both girls jump. They instinctively stepped apart, eyes wary and sharp as they sized him up.
When they saw he was just a human, their tension eased—slightly. But the Devil's aura clinging to him kept them on guard.
Xenovia's tone was icy. "You're human. Why do you reek of Devil energy?"
Shuo shrugged. "This is Devil territory, and I'm friends with the city's Devil lord. Of course I smell like them."
He waved a hand, then eyed them curiously. "You're from the Church, right? Walking into Devil turf like this—what's your goal? Not worried about starting a war?"
"Hmph. We have nothing to say to a human who consorts with Devils. Irina, let's go." Xenovia's words were clipped, her glare unwavering.
Shuo rolled his eyes. "Come on, not all Devils are evil. And if you barge in like this, you're just asking for trouble. You really want to be the ones who restart the Devil–Angel war?"
That gave them pause. Both girls stopped, turning their full attention to him.
Irina was the first to break. "Xenovia, I think he actually has a point," she said, her face lighting up as she grabbed Xenovia's sleeve. "Besides, we're strangers here. No one's helping us, and we've got zero leads. Maybe we should talk to him?"
Xenovia considered, then relented, her tone softening. "Perhaps I was too harsh. Would you be willing to introduce us to the Devil lord?"
Irina flashed what she thought was a sly grin. "Exactly! Once we get some intel, we can finish our mission and ditch this human."
Shuo stared at them, deadpan. "You realize I can hear you, right? I'm standing right here."
Irina giggled, putting on her best puppy-dog eyes. "Ehehe, don't mind her! Please, help us out?"
Shuo couldn't help but laugh. "You're almost too adorable for your own good. Fine, I'll take you to Rias and the others. You can hash things out in person."
He reached out and gave Irina's cheek a playful pinch.
!!!
Irina swatted his hand away, face blazing. "Hey! I'm not a kid—just you wait, I'll show you!"
Shuo just smirked. "What's the problem? I'm helping you out, and your cheeks are way too soft not to touch."
"You—you—how dare you! Ahhh! My purity is ruined! I'll cut you down!" Irina's voice rose to a shrill, indignant wail, like a lion cub trying to roar.
Xenovia quickly grabbed her arm. "If you kill him, who'll show us the way? We still need to complete our mission."
Irina deflated instantly, shooting Shuo a murderous look. "You got lucky."
Still grinning, Shuo led the two toward the Supernatural Research Club.
On the way, Irina's curiosity got the better of her. "Why do you hang around with Devils? Aren't you scared?"
Shuo chuckled. "Scared? Of what—are they supposed to be serial killers? You're the ones with the twisted prejudices."
He glanced at them, then added, "If you actually got to know them, you'd see they're not so bad."
The girls exchanged looks—first skeptical, then, oddly, their eyes burned with a kind of fervor.
"We'll never understand Devils," Xenovia declared. "We'll always believe in God."
Shuo watched them, a hint of pity in his smile.
Let's see if you're still this devout after you learn the truth.
