The moment Shuo's blade cut through the death line, Beast Emperor 666 knew the end had come. Its roars echoed with pure, stubborn rage—but bit by bit, its massive form unraveled into motes of light, fading into the sky.
Ding!
"Congratulations, Host! You have slain Beast Emperor 666 and earned a Golden Package."
The system's voice rang out in Shuo's mind, confirming what he'd barely dared to hope.
It was truly dead.
He'd doubted himself—after all, 666's life force was on a whole other level, and those death lines had flickered in and out, never fully stable. Had he really managed to kill it? The system's message was the answer.
Just as relief washed over him, a strange sensation prickled at the edge of his awareness—a subtle force, pushing him away.
Spacetime rejection?
Shuo's heart skipped.
Did killing Beast Emperor 666—saving the loli goddess from grave injury—change the future enough to trigger a paradox?
But… he was still here.
Why hadn't the timeline kicked him out?
"System, what's going on? Shouldn't I have been ejected from this world?"
Ding!
"Host has altered the course of events, but as long as you ensure the three-faction war reaches its destined outcome, you may remain in this spacetime."
So that's how it works!
Shuo turned to the loli goddess, ready to explain everything—only for her to cut him off first.
"You're from the future, aren't you?"
She studied him with bright, curious eyes, her tone edged with wonder.
Shuo blinked.
"Uh… Little Saint, how did you figure that out?!"
She crossed her arms, a proud little smirk on her lips.
"I'm the strongest god, you know. At first, I was just suspicious, but that spacetime rejection clinging to you? Not subtle enough to fool me."
She continued, piecing it all together aloud.
"Clearly, you intervened in my fight with the Beast Emperor and changed the result. That's why the timeline's acting up."
Shuo couldn't help but smile at her deduction.
He nodded, then laid out the timeline as he remembered it.
"In the original history, you sealed Beast Emperor 666—but only after suffering terrible injuries. Your weakened state let the Underworld devils catch wind of your vulnerability. The Four Great Devil Kings led every devil, and the fallen angels joined the fray. The three-faction war erupted. During the chaos, the Two Heavenly Dragons—Albion and Ddraig—crashed into the battlefield. The three sides teamed up to take them down. You, fighting through your injuries, created the Sacred Gear, and in the final battle, you and the Devil Kings perished together."
The goddess listened carefully, her expression thoughtful.
But she still had questions.
"So… why haven't you been rejected by spacetime?"
Shuo scratched his head, a little embarrassed as he explained the system's workaround.
She nodded, understanding dawning.
"If you want to stay in this era, then I have to follow the future's course—either disappear during the three-faction war or find a way to hide myself."
She smiled, eyes sparkling with mischief and resolve.
"I get it. I'll vanish from everyone's sight during the war, and when the time is right, we'll meet again."
Shuo stared at her, a mix of surprise and gratitude welling up.
"But Little Saint… the modern age is a long way off. Won't you be lonely, hiding away all that time? And you're trusting me based on nothing but my word—aren't you worried I might be lying?"
She met his gaze, her smile softening.
"Well… you're the one chosen by the Star Holy Sword. I choose to believe you. Besides, I'm a little tired of Heaven's routine. Maybe it's time I followed you and tried something new."
Her words hit him harder than he expected.
"Little Saint… you're too cute for your own good!"
He couldn't resist—he pulled her into a quick, impulsive hug.
The goddess stiffened, eyes wide with shock.
"Wha—what are you doing?!"
She pushed him away, her cheeks blazing red. It wasn't anger; it was pure, flustered embarrassment.
Shuo coughed, trying to play it off.
"Sorry, sorry. You were just too adorable—I couldn't help myself. Old habits die hard!"
Her blush deepened. She shot him a glare, then huffed, arms crossed, voice full of tsundere pride.
"Don't treat me like a child. I'm a god—the strongest god!"
Shuo grinned, nodding enthusiastically.
"Absolutely! The strongest loli goddess!"
She glared harder, teeth clenched in mock outrage.
This shameless guy—always teasing her!
But she let it go, rolling her eyes.
"Come on. Let's head back to Heaven."
Just hearing the word "Heaven" sent a thrill through Shuo. After all, it was the angels' home turf.
Before they left, he remembered something important.
"Little Saint, could you help disguise me? The three-faction summit is coming up, and I don't want Michael or his angels recognizing me."
She waved a hand, casting a quick spell. Sacred light wrapped around Shuo, then faded.
"There. Except for those two, no one will remember your face."
Shuo checked his reflection and nodded, satisfied.
In the blink of an eye, the goddess whisked them away, Heaven looming ahead.
On the way, Shuo couldn't resist opening his first Golden Package.
"System, open it—now! Give me something good!"
He muttered every lucky phrase he could think of—Amitabha, Bodhisattva, spirits of heaven and earth—hoping for a miracle.
Ding!
"Golden Package opened. Congratulations, Host: you have received a [Life Level +1 Evolution Card]."
YES!
He pumped his fist.
A true jackpot—exactly what he needed!
His power was solid, but at the end of the day, he was still a human. Even with a trace of pure dragon blood in his veins, it wasn't enough.
Different worlds meant different threats. Strength alone didn't guarantee survival.
Look at Son Goku from Dragon Ball—strong enough to shatter dimensions, but he still died from heart disease, and even got shot by a random handgun during the Frieza fight. If that's not ridiculous, what is?
That's why raising his life level was so crucial. With a high enough life level, he could shrug off curses and causality-based weapons—like his own Mystic Eyes of Death Perception.
He'd be traveling to other worlds soon, and if he ever ran into someone with powers like his own, he'd need every edge he could get.
