After the Rating Game, Rias's parents wasted no time—they arranged an engagement ceremony for Shuo and Rias.
Except, when Shuo arrived, he was greeted by not one fiancée, but two.
He blinked, momentarily stunned.
Wait. Two?
Turns out Sona's parents, ever the schemers, had learned of the engagement and promptly pushed Sona into the mix.
So, amid laughter and heartfelt blessings, Shuo found himself engaged to not just one, but two devil princesses.
Sometimes, even he couldn't decide whether his life was charmed or cursed.
Odin soon excused himself, heading back to the Norse realms.
And in the days that followed, Shuo devoted himself to deepening his bonds with Ophis and the rest of the girls.
His harem flourished—peaceful, warm, and surprisingly drama-free.
"Son-in-law, may I interrupt?"
Shuo was lounging on the throne in the great hall, just about to untangle the latest DxD plot thread, when a cool, clear voice cut through his thoughts.
He looked up to see Evelyn, dressed in impeccable maid attire, bowing respectfully.
"His Majesty Sirzechs requests your presence at the palace. Please follow me."
Shuo smiled, rising with a knowing nod.
At the palace, he found the three faction leaders gathered—Sirzechs, Michael, Azazel—and even Odin had stuck around.
But what truly caught Shuo off guard was the presence of Baraqiel.
Azazel grinned, gesturing.
"Shuo, let me introduce you. This is Baraqiel—a high-ranking Fallen Angel, and Akeno's father. He's playing bodyguard for Odin today."
Father-in-law, huh.
Shuo met Baraqiel's gaze, greeting him with polite confidence.
"Pleasure to meet you, sir."
Baraqiel's expression was stern, his eyes sweeping over Shuo as if measuring his worth.
Shuo didn't mind. He knew the man's reputation—rigid, serious, but hopelessly devoted to his daughter.
After a long, silent moment, Baraqiel nodded, voice thick with gratitude.
"I've heard from Azazel—Akeno has finally stepped out of her shadows. Thank you for helping her."
He hesitated, then continued.
"Because of what happened to Akeno's mother, I've always felt I failed her. I couldn't face her. So, I'm entrusting Akeno's happiness to you."
Shuo understood instantly—this was acceptance, pure and simple.
With Baraqiel's legendary daughter-complex, trusting his daughter to a man with a harem was no small feat.
Thinking of the father-daughter bond, Shuo's eyes flickered. After a moment's thought, he asked,
"Sir, do you know if Aunt Shuri's soul is intact? If it hasn't been damaged, I might be able to bring her back."
The words hit like a thunderclap.
"Shuo—are you serious?! You can really resurrect Shuri?!"
Baraqiel was floored—shock, hope, and desperation warring in his eyes.
Azazel, too, looked on with barely concealed anticipation.
After all, it was Azazel's orders that had forced Baraqiel to leave his family, leading to Shuri's death. To this day, guilt gnawed at him, and Akeno's barbed words could only be met with a bitter smile.
Shuo nodded.
"If her soul's untouched, reviving Aunt Shuri is easy."
Baraqiel's eyes lit up—then darkened with worry.
"But Shuri's soul is in the Underworld. Getting it back from Hades… that won't be simple."
Everyone nodded. Hades, God of the Underworld, was notoriously hostile to outsiders.
Negotiating for a soul would be… challenging.
Odin clicked his tongue.
"Shuo, don't tell me you're planning to storm the Underworld?"
Shuo's smile sharpened.
"Hades has been up to plenty of dirty business. He was involved in the Khaos Brigade's attacks, and rumor has it he's made deals with Rizevim—lifting Samael's seal to scheme for Ophis's power."
He let the words hang, cold amusement in his tone.
The truth was worse—Hades would go on to form the Hell Alliance and launch the infamous 'Hell Incident' and other acts of terror.
"What?!"
"Hades broke his oath and unleashed Samael? Is he insane?!"
Odin exploded, fury written across his face.
Samael—the Dragon Eater, nemesis of dragons. Sealing him had cost the gods of all realms dearly.
And now Hades had let him loose…
Sirzechs's face was grim.
"Rizevim… what a nightmare. The strongest Transcendent, born of Lucifer and Lilith. His power—Sacred Gear Nullification—can reduce any Sacred Gear to nothing."
Sirzechs had chosen peerage members without Sacred Gears for this very reason.
Now, with Rizevim and Hades working together, things were worse than ever.
Thankfully, they had Shuo. Without him, the situation would be dire.
Shuo tilted his head, voice thoughtful.
"So, should I just take Hades out? That would solve everything, wouldn't it?"
The room fell silent, everyone's expression a mix of horror and exasperation.
Michael finally spoke, voice gentle but firm.
"Shuo, unless we have irrefutable proof, it's best not to kill Hades. If he dies, the Underworld will descend into chaos."
Shuo considered, then shrugged.
Fair point. Hades ran the Underworld—when people died, their souls went to him for judgment and reincarnation.
If Shuo killed him, the fallout would be catastrophic. The Underworld, the human world—maybe even the entire world—would spiral into disorder.
"Alright, I'll let him live—for now. But I'm not above giving him a good beating."
A wicked grin spread across Shuo's face.
If Hades didn't have his uses, Shuo would have erased him already.
Azazel shivered, watching Shuo's smile.
Hades is in for a world of pain.
Odin burst out laughing.
"Baraqiel, you've got yourself one hell of a son-in-law! Strong as hell, and a decent guy, too!"
Baraqiel's stern face finally cracked, gratitude shining in his eyes as he looked at Shuo.
Any lingering doubts about Shuo's playboy reputation vanished, replaced by pride.
