A restlessness had settled over Silver, a disquiet she couldn't quite shake. Natasha and Mila's eyes was following her as she paces around the room like a cat.
The Duke hadn't visited in days, it was really unusual for him and she couldn't understand but his absence left her feeling strangely…off-kilter.
It wasn't as though she needed his presence, of course. She was perfectly capable of handling matters on her own. And yet, the lack of their usual banter, the absence of his watchful gaze like he did for a straight whole month, left a void she hadn't anticipated.
"Your Majesty, are you alright?" Natasha asked, her brow furrowed with concern. "You look…distracted. Is there something wrong?"
"I'm fine, Natasha," Silver replied, perhaps a little too quickly. "Just…preoccupied with court matters."
"Court matters?"
Natasha raised a skeptical eyebrow as she and Mila exchanged glances, but wisely refrained from pressing further. Mila, however, was not so subtle.
