"Get ready for action."
In HYDRA's secret base, Daniel Whitehall sat in a dark mood. The Obelisk he had been pursuing for decades had been intercepted by a mysterious stranger. For a man who had devoted his life to chasing the alien artifact, such a setback was unforgivable.
"Move out. Now."
At Parkerson Park, HYDRA troop carriers screeched to a halt. Dozens of heavily armed soldiers poured out, quickly surrounding the park.
"Kneel down and put your hands up. Now!"
One HYDRA commander barked orders. Every gun was aimed squarely at Allens. But the sight of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents still floating helplessly in the air by Allens' power made the HYDRA troops hesitate to get too close.
"HYDRA? Perfect," Allens said with a faint smirk. "Let's test my new ability on you."
With a flick of his hand, the suspended S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were hurled aside, crashing into a nearby flower bed.
"Skye, May, Tripp—status?" Coulson's voice came urgently through the comms as he monitored the scene.
"A little banged up, but we're fine," May replied, climbing out of the wreckage, brushing dust from her jacket. Skye, Lance Hunter, and Tripp scrambled to their feet behind her.
"He… let us go?" Tripp asked, wide-eyed, still staring at Allens. Relief tinged his voice.
"No," Skye said quietly, her eyes narrowing. "He's ignoring us. We don't even register to him." To her, Allens' gaze carried the same indifference one might give to ants—tiny, insignificant, beneath notice.
"Orders?" May asked firmly, already drawing her pistol and leveling it at Allens' back.
"For now, let HYDRA test him," Coulson answered grimly.
May nodded, signaling the team to hold back, but she never took her eyes off Allens.
"The obstacles are gone," Allens muttered, rolling his wrist. "Now let's see what it's like to absorb others' power."
Without using psychokinesis, he simply advanced toward the nearest HYDRA squad. The soldiers immediately opened fire.
"Concrete form."
As he walked, Allens' entire body shifted into a rough gray texture, like a road come to life. Bullets ricocheted harmlessly, leaving only faint white scuffs.
Boom.
He slammed a fist into the ground. The shockwave shattered the pavement, sending four HYDRA soldiers flying like rag dolls.
"Grenadiers, now!" barked Aravis, the field commander. Sweat beaded on his brow as he leveled a grenade launcher and fired.
Thump—fwoosh.
Allens casually brushed his hand against a decorative boulder, his form shifting into solid granite. The ground cracked under his sudden weight.
The grenade struck him dead-on. Boom! A ball of fire lit up the park. When the smoke cleared, Allens stood unscathed, his granite body glinting. Not even a chip of stone had been dislodged.
He marched forward, footsteps shaking the earth. Panicked HYDRA troops kept firing in vain. Bullets clanged against him like pebbles.
In a blur, Allens grabbed two soldiers by the head and smashed them together. Their skulls burst like overripe fruit.
Gunfire rattled, explosions roared, but it was useless. Every swing of Allens' stone fists hurled HYDRA soldiers aside like broken dolls.
"Damn it! He's got Carl Creel's ability!" Whitehall cursed, slamming his fist on the table as he watched the feed.
He knew Creel's powers well—the Absorbing Man could alter his molecular structure by touching any material. But this stranger had taken it further. He wasn't just mimicking; he was evolving.
"Fitz," Coulson asked sharply back at the Bus, "the device you designed to counter Creel's powers—will it work on Allens?"
Fitz's face was pale. "No… it won't. My tech was calibrated to Creel's specific DNA. Allens' biology is completely different. It's like… he's on another level."
Coulson's frown deepened.
Meanwhile, in the park, the slaughter continued. Allens tore through HYDRA like paper, every strike reducing soldiers to corpses at his feet.
From the shadows, Raina's eyes glowed with fervor. "It's beautiful… this is the power I've been searching for. Skye isn't the only one who can find her destiny. I've found mine. With him."
To Raina, Allens was no mere man—he was a revelation. She believed that by following him, she too could undergo metamorphosis, emerging like an angel with wings unfurled.
And then it was over. In less than a minute, every HYDRA soldier lay dead. Silence fell over the battlefield.
Allens approached Raina, extending a hand with a gentleman's smile. "Come, beautiful little flower. Let's find the next one."
Her breath caught at his charm. Without hesitation, Raina slipped her hand into his.
Shua—
The illusion of the alien battlefield dissolved, revealing the ordinary grounds of Parkerson Park. Allens and Raina vanished together, leaving behind stunned silence. Both S.H.I.E.L.D. and HYDRA were left reeling.
