Chapter 25 - The Beginning of the Internships.

The day marking the start of the internships had arrived.

Gran Torino ordered me to meet him at his "agency," though it was anything but that.

This way, we maintained the impression that he saw potential in me and was therefore interested in taking me on as a student for a week. Which makes sense, as it would be strange to confirm that I've been training with him since I started at UA.

I quickly said goodbye to Uraraka and gave Iida a brief glance, because I have to save him and all that. As I was on the train, I started thinking about what I would do once I arrived at Gran Torino's agency.

I have two Quirks to train to get them to optimal levels, and I have to stop Stain. I also need to advance my control over One For All; reaching 30% control by the end of the week would be very useful.

Since I transmigrated into this body, I've made great progress, but the most important parts are still in process. After these internships, there are the final exams, the summer camp and the villains' attack, Bakugo's kidnapping, the provisional license exams, and the rescue of Eri.

Those are the next events to occur that I need to be prepared for. I need to be able to knock out Muscular without breaking my arms in the process; Blackwhip will be fundamental to achieving that.

And if I don't have a high level of control over One For All for Eri's rescue, it's very likely I'll lose to Chisaki... unless I rescue Eri before that, but that's still an idea in progress.

There are many events and very little time between them.

The building Gran Torino ordered me to come to is exactly the same as in the original story.

I wondered if he would also do the "playing dead" joke.

I opened the door slowly, and upon seeing the inside of the place, sure enough, Gran Torino was on the floor, with "blood" in a puddle.

I can feel the smile starting to grow on my face.

It's time for me to put my wonderful acting skills into practice.

"GRAN TORINO IS DEAD!"

"I'M ALIVE!"

"HE'S ALIVE!"

"...Hahahahaha."

"It's good to see you, master."

"Same here, brat. Ready to train? I've been wanting to do that since the week started."

"Of course! What do I start with? Meditation, perhaps? Physical conditioning? Practice to control the other Quirks?"

"We'll do all of that... in a single day!"

Huh? Are my ears working correctly? Did Gran Torino just say that?

"During your week off, I took the trouble to create a new training regimen that involves all those practices."

"Is that possible? Those are a lot of different exercises, sir, and doing them all in one day seems insane to me."

"Of course it's possible. I'm an old man with years of experience. I've seen two wielders of One For All and have trained one of them. Believe me when I tell you that you're not the challenge you think you are. Trust me, brat, by the end of the day, you'll have a noticeable improvement."

Gran Torino hasn't managed to disappoint me since I met him.

If he says I can, I believe I can.

The advanced training regimen is real! And it's hell!

No joke, the training is insane.

It's physically exhausting and mentally draining. It starts with a full hour of meditation using One For All at the highest power I can handle while releasing Blackwhips to the limit I can keep them under my control.

After that, it's intense physical training followed by a random obstacle course to make my "Danger Sense" second nature.

All of that is repeated in a loop until the day ends, with breaks to eat, hydrate, and use the bathroom.

The rest? Exercise after exercise. Rest is no longer an option.

When Gran Torino said I would notice a remarkable improvement by the end of the day, he wasn't joking. One For All still can't be used at 25%, but 23% is useful at this point.

The Whips are still stubborn and try to overcome my own will to keep them in my power, but I no longer have to feel the same anger I felt at the beginning to use them.

The Danger Sense is still something that can't be used freely. It's not second nature to me, and that makes fighting not an option.

But if this is going to be repeated for a whole week, then I'm not complaining.

"How are you doing, brat?" Gran Torino questioned sarcastically.

"You know, headache and physical pain, but better than ever."

"Good for you. We'll repeat this for one more day, and the next, we'll start with patrols."

Does that mean I'll have a trial day before the Hosu attack happens?

A day to learn how the heroic world of this world works. It will be an interesting experience.

"I understand. Is there anything I should keep in mind before starting the patrols?"

"No... Well, just keep an open mind about everything."

"Why are you so determined to get strong so quickly, brat?"

"I want to be strong because... since the U.S.J., things have not stopped getting dangerous."

"Dangerous? Kid, from the moment you accepted One For All, things became dangerous."

"I know, it's just that... I didn't know the risks of wielding One For All. I wanted a Quirk so badly that when I had the opportunity, I only saw what I could have and not what it could bring me... both positively and negatively. The U.S.J. was a reality check. It showed me how weak I am compared to the world that awaits me once I graduate."

"...You're not alone in this, Izuku. That idiot Toshinori is just that, an idiot, but at least he knows what he's doing, and you're his successor, the closest thing Toshinori has had and will have to a son. He'll die before letting someone like All For One harm you. And don't tell anyone I told you this, brat, because I will undoubtedly deny it, but I'm with you in this too. You're my student, and you're definitely the best one I've had."

My eyes are getting misty, damn it.

"I... Thank you, master. I'll try not to disappoint you."

"I don't doubt it, brat. Now go take a shower, you smell like shit."

After that student/master talk, we decided to call it a day.

Tomorrow, the routine we had will be repeated, and after that, Gran Torino will take me to Hosu to stop criminals.

My encounter with Stain is getting closer every day, and that has me a bit anxious, but I'm confident I can stop him.

I'll use my speed and take him out of commission before he does anything. Simple... so simple that it feels like something is going to go wrong.

After that, I'll try to reach 30% of One For All with the remaining days of the internship.

I think if I apply this new exercise routine that Gran Torino made for me, I'll be able to reach 50% of One For All by the summer camp.

After another day of training, the day to start the patrols arrived.

Gran Torino and I are waiting for the bullet train to arrive at the station, and we are in our hero costumes.

People recognize me, and some even ask for pictures. It's very strange; I feel like a cosplayer.

"Alright, brat, ready to travel to Hosu?" Gran Torino questioned me as he saw the bullet train stop at our station.

"Yes!"

"Then move it and get on the bullet train. It's time to be a hero!"

Once we got free seats, the train started moving towards Hosu.

"Alright, from this point on, we have to call each other by our hero names. You already call me Gran Torino, so that's fine... What's your hero name? I forgot, and now I can't remember."

"My hero name is 'Flashkicker'."

"Good, at least you didn't choose something stupid for a name."

We had arrived in Hosu city less than an hour ago, and Gran Torino stopped three simple crimes so I could get to know a hero's actions when patrolling.

It's really simple: you stop the source of the problem, call the authorities, hand them over, and fill out a small report where you briefly relate what happened. If you have an agency, then all that paperwork is sent to your agency, and you have to complete it by the end of the day.

Something quite tedious, but it makes sense. That's how a record of the crime rate in the streets is kept and who is the hero that fights it the most.

"Alright, Flashkicker, see that guy over there?" Gran Torino asked me, pointing to a man whose Quirk made him look like a raccoon.

"Yes, the fake Rocket Raccoon. What about him?"

"That man is a criminal, and he's on drugs."

"How do you know?"

"Years of experience. Plus, look at his hands. He's a novice; he has wounds from a bad posture when shooting."

"Go and catch him."

"But shouldn't we wait for him to try to commit a crime?"

"He's already mugged someone. As I said, he's a novice. His hands are trembling, he mugged someone, and now he's dealing with the fact that he probably committed a murder."

"Then let me stop him. One For All, Full Cowling 10%!"

Gaining speed, I positioned myself in front of the criminal in less than a second, and without allowing him to defend himself, I hit him in the liver.

He instantly fell to the ground, clutching his stomach in pain.

I took both of his arms and wrapped them with Blackwhips, simulating police handcuffs.

"What the hell is wrong with you?! Let me go, you piece of shit kid!"

"I'm sorry, Mr. Criminal, orders are orders."

Gran Torino stood beside me, and to avoid hearing the guy's screams, I covered his mouth with another Blackwhip.

Every day, the idea of being Spider-Man convinces me more.

"Good job, Flashkicker. I've already called the authorities. They should be here in a few moments."

In the end, the guy was indeed a criminal. He had shot a woman while she was shopping. Fortunately, the woman was out of danger.

The officers congratulated me and wished me luck on my internships.

And we continued patrolling Hosu.

There's only one day left to meet Stain.

...

Author's Note:

Hey.

How was the chapter?

Well, this chapter is mostly a bunch of different scenes to start the internships.

The MC reflects with Gran Torino on why he is a hero. I did this because in most of the Isekai I've read, there are few times when the protagonist shows development as a person.

He simply reincarnates and thinks, "Ok, now I have to save the plot on my own." If it's in Naruto, he becomes the strongest ninja in the world and does the plot on his own.

But I never see a development that makes the protagonist more than just a guy who lives in an anime and defeats every enemy that is put in front of him.

I'm not saying that I'm better than the average or anything like that; this story is not that good.

But I try to give it development and turn him from a protagonist who seeks to survive to someone who is willing to be a proper hero.

The next chapter will cover the fight with Stain and a lot of shit-talking to Iida from the MC, because I hated Iida's attitude in the first seasons of MHA.

See you.
