There won't be any chapters for the next three days because of the holidays.
Instead, as a small holiday gift, I decided to do a Q&A session.
Since I posted this novel on multiple platforms, I've gotten a lot of questions about the story over time. I gathered some of the most common ones here in one place—but feel free to ask anything else in the comments.
Q: Is Astro a self-insert?
A: Nope. If he were, I would've straight-up tagged it.
None of the new characters in this novel is based on a real person, and there never will be a character based on a real figure. That said, a lot of them are inspired by other fictional characters—including Astro.
Astro's character (I am not talking about power) is inspired by three characters, but I won't say exactly what I took from them to avoid spoilers for those series. Anyway, they are Akai Shuichi (Detective Conan), Sasuke Uchiha (Boruto), and Yuno (Black Clover)
Q: What happened to the original Astro?
A: Not spoiling that…but you'll find out by the end of the Royal Summit Arc.
Q: Is this going to be a harem?
A: No.
Nothing against harem stories, but I don't think it fits a shounen-related fanfiction—especially Fairy Tail, where there are already so many established CPs.
If I made it a harem, a lot of characters would start feeling like OCs, and I don't want that.
Q: Is the heroine Mirajane?
A: Yes.
Q: What's the dynamic of Astro × Mira going to be like?
A: I'll spoil this a bit so you know what to expect.
Both of them are confident, popular, and very aware of their own charm. Mira is also a very extroverted type, so after the initial "falling in love" phase, she's not going to turn into a tsundere who blushes nonstop and punches Astro every time he flirts.
If anything, Mira will make more moves than Astro, and Astro will absolutely indulge her.
Q: Is Mira going to keep working as a model and bartender?
A: Yeah, she is.
I've seen a lot of fanfics where Mira's character suddenly changes after meeting the MC— she suddenly hates modeling, or the MC makes her cover up even in her demon form.
I don't want to ruin what makes Mira Mira. Astro also isn't an insecure type of protagonist—he won't treat Mira as his property or doll.
Their relationship will be healthy, with proper communication. Astro will be possessive in the sense that he won't like people with impure intentions touch her (same goes for Mira)….but he won't control her life or career. That goes against Astro's core value.
Mira has said multiple times in canon that she likes modeling and bartending. It's part of her charm as well, and I don't see someone like Astro ever trying to take that away. But I wonder what Edo Astro is like….hmm.
Q: Who's the best heroine in Fairy Tail, in your opinion?
A: Erza, no contest.
Lucy is a very close second.
Third would be Wendy.
Q: Is Astro going to build his own team?
A: Yep.
He'll have his own team within Fairy Tail. It's probably already obvious who they'll be.
Each member will have unique magic, and their abilities will synergize not just with each other, but with other Fairy Tail members too.
Q: Is Astro ever going to learn other magic?
A: Yes.
He'll eventually regain access to his original magic, and it's going to be really strong. You can probably already guess what form it'll take.
Throughout the story, he'll learn a bunch of different magic types, but in serious fights, he'll mostly rely on Sky Devil Slayer magic and his original magic (with a few exceptions).
He'll also get a second Origin Mode, similar to Natsu's Lightning Flame Dragon Mode—but that comes much later.
Q: Is Astro weaker than Laxus right now?
A: Yeah, he is.
Laxus has trained since he was young and cleared a ton of S-Class missions. Astro has only trained for about three years. The only reason he's even close is that Devil Slayer magic grows insanely fast.
That said, Laxus will also get stronger than canon thanks to having a rival now.
So… yeah….Fairy Tail… is kind of screwed.
RIP.
Q: Are Astro and Jellal brothers?
A: It is pretty obvious at this point.
They do share a lot of personality traits, and soon they'll start looking a bit more similar to (I wonder what that means)
Q: Are you going to break any CPs?
A: No—at least not any confirmed ones.
There will be new CPs, though, both OC × OC and OC × canon characters.
Q: Is Astro a prince, too?
A: Yeah.
He's royalty.
Q: Is there going to be universe-hopping or multiverse stuff?
A: No… Except for the being reincarnated part at the very beginning.
It will stay firmly within the Fairy Tail universe. Everything that happens is in-universe and follows Fairy Tail–style logic, rules, and progression. This isn't a multiverse-hopping type of the story.
Q: Is Sherria dead?
A: No.
I'm not going to spoil what happened to her, but I'm not the type to kill an important character just to make an OC's backstory.
Q: How old is Shawn?
A: He's only half a year older than Wendy.
Yeah… that's going to be interesting. I wonder what kind of chemistry they are gonna have….hmmm.
Q: How long until we reach the main canon story?
A: The Royal Summit Arc is the final arc of Volume 1: Poisonous Wind.
This entire volume is Astro's origin story.
Volume 2 will be much shorter—only four arcs. Each arc will focus on Astro's team doing interesting missions, told from a different member's POV. The last arc will return to Astro's POV and transition into the main story with a time skip.
Q: Is this novel going to be 18+?
A: Yes, actually.
Q: Are there going to be mature themes?
A: Yep.
One of the best things about shounen stories is that they can tell dark stories in a light-hearted way, because you believe the main characters will do their best to bring light to the darkness.
This story will be the same—so expect plenty of dark themes.
Q: Will there be fan service?
A: Yes.
It's Fairy Tail—fanservice is part of the charm. As the story goes on, expect a lot of it, including nudity, exhibition, and other stuff like that, since those things are common in this universe.
Some scenes will be left to imagination, but others will be pretty explicit. I realized while drafting that I can't keep using excuses like "a leaf blocked the view" or "Happy was in the way" or "Somehow a light from heaven is blocking the vision" forever, so yeah—sometimes it'll be pretty detailed, lol.
Q: Are there going to be lemons?
A: Short answer: yes.
Long answer: Don't expect an entire chapter dedicated to just lemon.
There won't be much in Volume 1 and 2, but there will be some….they're a pretty good way to show and explore the intimacy, dynamics, and trust between characters.
Q: Is the novel always going to be free?
A: Yes.
It'll always be free on every platform I post on. Chapters will be uploaded almost simultaneously everywhere, so you don't need to switch sites either.
