Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Hating That Woman Even More

Jason Hawthorne's eyes flickered with confusion, and he flicked the cigarette butt, "Where's Twinkle? Still throwing a tantrum?"

Mason Cross nodded, "The young master locked himself in his room and refuses to come out."

Jason Hawthorne stubbed out the cigarette and strode towards the door, with Mason following closely behind.

At the door of Justin Hawthorne's room, Jason Hawthorne knocked gently, "Twinkle, open the door!"

No response.

"If you don't open the door, Daddy will have someone break the lock."

Still no response.

Jason's brow twitched; this was the first time Twinkle threw such a big tantrum. What exactly did that woman instill in him to make him so inclined to side with her?

"Daddy, sister is really nice, she didn't kidnap me. I asked to stay at her place myself."

"Daddy, can you take me to see sister one more time, please? We left so hastily that morning we didn't even say goodbye."

"Daddy, you always taught me that children need to be polite, but you're guiding me to be a rude, bad kid! I don't like you anymore!"

The naive anger of his son's words still haunted him, and Jason Hawthorne's dark eyes narrowed even more with his growing disgust towards that woman.

Could she have remembered something?

What is her purpose in getting close to Twinkle?

Jason's eyes quickly filled with a sinister aura as he instructed a servant grimly, "Watch the young master, if he doesn't come out by dinner, break the lock."

The servant quickly nodded, "Yes, sir."

After hearing his footsteps fade away, inside the room, Justin Hawthorne pouted and thought angrily: He must find a way to see his sister again!

On the way to the company, Jason Hawthorne rubbed his temples, "Have we found a suitable nanny yet?"

Mason Cross shook his head, "Not yet."

Jason felt a headache coming on. Twinkle had gone through over fifty nannies now, the longest stayed for less than a month, the shortest left crying within half an hour...

He really didn't have much experience in looking after children. In truth, he wanted to get closer to his son, but it was always beyond his power. Twinkle was very similar to him in some ways, especially in his stubborn temperament, never giving in on things he disliked.

These past years, he was busy with work, gradually taking control of Aegis Group from the shadows, inevitably paying less attention to Twinkle. Over time, he no longer knew how to interact with his son.

"Keep looking."

"Yes."

The Aegis Group building towered high, a landmark in Dravenfall, and a place many people dreamed of working.

Laura Quincy also once had that dream, but she knew the entry barrier to "Aegis Group" was sky-high, and with her current skills, she wouldn't dare to carelessly send her resume.

However, today she wasn't here for a job but to demand an explanation. Why was she falsely accused of being a kidnapper?

Fourth Young Master Hawthorne thinks he's all that! With just one word, he ruined her life, turning her into a rat despised by everyone, while he lives his life without a care?

Though she came with this goal, Laura knew that getting into Aegis Group wasn't easy, she had to think of something clever to do it.

"Security guard, my boyfriend works here; we planned to have lunch together at noon. Could you let me in, please?"

"Which department and floor does your boyfriend work on?"

"Ah? Do I really need to report all that? He told me you're a very kind security guard, that you wouldn't stop a weak lady like me!" Laura said sweetly.
