Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Medical Disturbance, Courageous Intervention

What if I'm mistaken for a mental patient?

What if they capture me and dissect me?

Oh God, what's happening to me? Why can I "see" those images?

"Alright, you can get up now." Doctor Yang packed up his things and said softly, "

"Don't eat spicy or stimulating foods for the next week, try to eat light, and protect your left eye. Avoid looking at electronic devices, as a further injury might impact your vision..."

Lin Xiaoyan listened to the doctor's advice, feeling a mess inside, unsure of what to do.

Suddenly, a commotion could be heard outside, getting closer.

"Has it... come?" Lin Xiaoyan's body stiffened again, anxiously thinking, could it really be medical trouble...

"What?" Yang Lin asked, writing a prescription.

"No... nothing."

Lin Xiaoyan looked at the doctor in front of her, feeling a bit reluctant and frightened inside, what should I do? What should I do?

"Wang Linlin! Where's Wang Linlin! Come out! You bastard, you gave my mom an infusion and her hand bled, you couldn't even insert it all morning, do you deserve to be a doctor? Get out here!"

The man's loud shouting was clear from outside.

Hearing this, Yang Lin paused, frowned, and got up to take a look.

"Doc... doctor, my... my eye hurts!" Lin Xiaoyan hurriedly called to Yang Lin.

"Ah!!! Help..."

"Run, he's got a knife!"

"Ah..."

The outside turned into chaos, and Yang Lin hurried out, not forgetting to gently reassure Lin Xiaoyan, "Just sit tight for a moment, lock the door, and I'll be back to check your eye shortly."

Saying this, Yang Lin ran out.

Lin Xiaoyan looked at the door Doctor Yang closed, feeling a pang in her heart—such a good doctor shouldn't be treated this way!

But how could she stop it?

Lin Xiaoyan shakily took out her phone to dial 110, but heard someone else calling the police outside.

"Sir, please stay calm, let's sit down and resolve this slowly, don't be impulsive..."

Yang Lin's voice came from outside, still calm and soothing.

"No way!" Lin Xiaoyan got up and searched the doctor's office.

Finally, she saw a mop behind the door.

Listening to the noises outside, Lin Xiaoyan quickly grabbed the mop and walked out.

As Lin Xiaoyan stepped outside, she saw a middle-aged man, face flushed and hysterical, wielding a knife at Yang Lin.

"You doctors are all worthless, my mom just had a minor cold, and you made her stay in the hospital, just three days cost five hundred bucks!

I want to check out, and you won't let us!"

The doctor responsible for the man's mother hurried over, out of breath, and said, "We found a tumor in your mother's stomach, we need to do further examination."

"Bullshit! My mom's fine! She couldn't eat because of the cold! You doctors failed to treat her and are making up lies about tumors to extort money from me!!!"

It was clear to everyone there that the middle-aged man had some mental issues.

Yang Lin nodded at the approaching doctor, signaling her to quickly call security, and then gently persuaded, "Alright, you want to discharge your mom, we'll assist you, just put down the knife, and we'll handle the discharge, okay?"

"No way!"

Upon hearing about discharge, the man became more agitated, "I already spent so much, what about that? You need to refund me, otherwise, I'll kill you all!" Saying that, he swung the knife wildly at the doctors.

"Ah!" Onlookers, patients, and their families gasped in fear.

Lin Xiaoyan quietly moved with the mop, terrified but focusing only on her racing heartbeat, continually mustering courage.

"You're lying to me, you're lying to me!!! Ah, I'll kill you all!!!"

Suddenly, the middle-aged man lost control, swinging the knife towards Yang Lin.

"Ah, murder!!!"

"Help!!!"

Everyone scattered in panic, screaming as they fled.

The man with the knife startled Yang Lin, who instinctively raised his arms to shield himself.

Lin Xiaoyan found the scene eerily familiar; it was exactly what she'd "seen" before.

Summoning strength from nowhere, she raised the mop and rushed forward.

"Ah!!!" Lin Xiaoyan screamed as she swung the mop at the middle-aged man's head.

"Thud" The man, unprepared, was knocked down, landing hard on his backside.

"Bitch, I'll kill you!" The man saw Lin Xiaoyan, eyes red with rage, and attempted to get up to slash at her.

By then, Lin Xiaoyan was paralyzed with fear, her grip loosening on the mop.

Suddenly, someone touched the mop, striking down on the man's hand.

The knife clattered to the ground, and with the knife gone, people gathered around, restraining the middle-aged man.

"Ah! I'll kill you! I'll kill you all!!!" The man, heavily pinned to the ground, couldn't resist but continued to shout incessantly.

Lin Xiaoyan breathed heavily, leaning against the wall, limbs weak, her ears ringing.

"Are you alright?" Yang Lin supported Lin Xiaoyan, noticing her pale and weakened state.

"Sit down first, take a deep breath, yes, follow me, inhale—exhale—inhale—... feeling better?"

Following Yang Lin's guidance, Lin Xiaoyan slowly relaxed, and the ringing in her ears faded.

By then, security arrived and took the man away, while those around continued discussing the incident.

"Doctor Yang, are you alright?" A nurse rushed over, anxiously asking Yang Lin.

Yang Lin shook his head, "Thanks to this young lady, otherwise my arm... wouldn't be safe."

Yang Lin looked as though he had just dodged death; the situation had been so perilous, he had resigned himself to the possibility of losing his arm, and at that moment, his only thought was about not being able to use a scalpel again...

Fortunately, a mop swung out from behind him, diverting the knife away from his arm.

Yang Lin looked gratefully at Lin Xiaoyan, "Thank you, Miss Lin, if it weren't for your courageous act, I'd probably be lying on the ground now."

Lin Xiaoyan weakly shook her head, "No need to thank me, it was the right thing to do." She couldn't just stand by and watch this doctor get hurt.

"Thank you, thank you, from the bottom of my heart, thank you, Miss!"

At this time, the director arrived and, hearing that Lin Xiaoyan had stepped in, quickly expressed gratitude to her.

"Yang Lin, you were too reckless; the next time something like this happens, don't step forward! Don't you know how important your hands are?" The director spoke with lingering fear to Yang Lin.

"No way, from now on, you shouldn't do outpatient duty, only surgeries. When you're not in surgery, stay in the department office or go home to rest. Sigh, how did this happen..."
