Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Game Rules

Looking at the sea, Xu Yi said in his mind, "System, use a Rapid-Acting Body Enhancement Agent for me."

Suddenly, he felt a prick on the back of his hand, as if he had been jabbed with a needle.

Then, Xu Yi felt a surge of heat flowing within his body, swirling around him once and then disappearing.

He clenched his fist and felt as though his strength had increased significantly.

It's truly rapid-acting; he felt stronger so quickly. He wondered if his stamina had also improved.

The injection method was as secretive as Xu Yi hoped; it wouldn't be detected at all. The system had that capability.

If he had known earlier, he wouldn't have needed a physical check-up before entering the wilderness; he should have used it long ago, especially for Lu Ke, she needed to strengthen her body even more.

If Lu Ke were eliminated due to lack of stamina, it would drag him down too.

The system probably gave him this Rapid-Acting Body Enhancement Agent as a welcome gift because of that concern, right?

So, Xu Yi walked over and took Lu Ke's hand.

Lu Ke was startled, her face turning red instantly.

"System, use a Rapid-Acting Body Enhancement Agent on Lu Ke."

"Ah." Lu Ke exclaimed and withdrew her hand.

"What's wrong?" Xu Yi asked knowingly.

"Nothing, nothing." Lu Ke glanced at the back of her hand and quietly said.

Xu Yi nodded, knowing that the rapid-acting enhancement agent had been injected, and Lu Ke's body would soon be strengthened.

After looking at the sea, Xu Yi twisted his neck.

Surviving in the wilderness for 500 days officially began!

"Let's first search for some shells, preferably larger than our feet. In 20 minutes, we'll enter the jungle to find a suitable place to set up camp." With that, Xu Yi rolled up his pants and walked into the sea.

As soon as he entered the water, a voice echoed in his mind: Welcome to this undeveloped world for a survival challenge. As long as a group can survive for 500 days, they will receive a mysterious reward.

Next, let me explain the rules to you all.

1: During the first 100 days, groups cannot help each other or attack each other.

2: After 100 days, three groups are allowed to cooperate and attack each other.

3: During the challenge, participants may receive tasks that must be completed; otherwise, you will be penalized.

And a friendly reminder: Long press the red button on the Star Chart to exit the challenge; the black button can pause and resume live tracking, and the status will be displayed on the Star Chart.

Alright, the game has started. I wish you all success in the challenge; countdown begins!

Xu Yi felt a vibration in his wrist, and the once pitch-black Star Chart displayed numbers, just like a digital watch. However, what was displayed was 06:07, followed by the number 13000. Then a green dot at the bottom was flashing, indicating that live tracking was normal.

"Xu Yi, did you hear that?" Lu Ke glanced at Xu Yi and then looked at her little white companion.

Xu Yi nodded and pointed at the Star Chart: "At 6:30, we'll go into the jungle, regardless of what we find."

"Doctor, what did Lu Ke mean? What sound did she and Xu Yi hear? Could it be an animal call?" Song Qian became nervous, voicing her concern like the audience in the live broadcast.

"It shouldn't be; if it were an animal call, we should be able to hear it." Dr. Glasses shook his head, thinking it might be related to the Star Chart since Xu Yi went to check the Star Chart.

"Look, Xu Yi is drinking water." Sun Bei pointed at the screen, his expression tense. After all, no one knows what substances might be present in the local water and whether it's safe to drink.

The four observers in the live broadcast hall and the staff behind the scenes all held their breath.

"The salinity is likely higher; we don't need to worry about edible salt." Xu Yi muttered to himself and continued searching.

"Xu Yi, why are there no shells at all, not even small shells?" Lu Ke stood up and shouted; she had searched a distance of dozens of meters.

"There are small shells; I just picked one up. The shellfish here are either scarce or eaten. Let's go into the jungle first and sort out the camp situation before coming back to the beach." With that, Xu Yi took out a plastic bag for clothes.

This plastic bag is quite thick and has a pull-tab design, so Xu Yi planned to bring some seawater into the jungle.

After filling it up, Xu Yi placed the plastic bag into the stainless-steel pot, poured out the excess water, and sealed the bag.

"This Xu Yi is quite clever, not wearing clothes first to get this plastic bag; I wonder what those players who wore clothes first are thinking now?"

"23333, they probably haven't figured out that this can earn them an extra plastic bag. I noticed that plastic bag is pretty thick, it'll be useful later on."

"You guys are so bad, but I like it!"

"Do you think Xu Yi plans to use this pot of seawater for salt or drinking?"

"Children choose; we want both!"

"..."

On the island, Xu Yi holds a stainless-steel pot in one hand and an Engineer Shovel in the other, with a sleeping bag strapped to him.

Lu Ke holds only the short crossbow, cautiously following behind Xu Yi.

The trees outside the island have smooth bark and grow densely, almost like walls, separating the island's land from the sea.

Xu Yi twisted his body to squeeze in.

"Xu Yi, I've read that we should first find a water source, then build a shelter around it." Lu Ke held the short crossbow, her head tilted, alertly scanning the surroundings.

It's quiet, extremely quiet, not even the sound of insects.

Sometimes, silence is frightening.

Now, Lu Ke feels that way.

The single-handed short crossbow isn't very powerful, with an effective range of 20 meters, but its power decreases beyond 10 meters. Crafting crossbow arrows would further reduce its power.

But even so, it's an excellent ranged weapon and easier to operate than a bow and arrow.

This single-handed short crossbow has a laser sight; it originally came with a scope, but that's gone.

Although there's no crossbow arrow, Lu Ke feels a little safer holding the short crossbow.

"It's so primitive here; the trees are so tall. Xiao Bai, show it off." After passing through the outer grove, Lu Ke felt like she entered a primordial forest, with each large tree seeming to require several people to encircle it.

With Lu Ke's command, her Flying Ball began to ascend, gradually revealing this area's appearance.

"Wow, it's truly primitive, even more than our tropical rainforest!"

"They are so lucky; this place looks so fun!"

"Lucky? You're out of your mind. Such a place could harbor large beasts, surviving here is hell mode!"

"Little girl, hold on for a week, then my goddess will agree to be my friend."

"Survival is tough; don't fear many animals, fear the absence of animals. Haven't you noticed that besides the sound of waves, there are no other sounds?"

The number of viewers in Xu Yi's live stream room is dwindling because the other 499 live streams feature not just celebrities but also athletes, influencers, and outdoor anchors, attracting most of the audience.

Moreover, many don't have faith in Xu Yi and Lu Ke; they think they might not survive the first day.

Yet, over a thousand viewers remain, considered Lu Ke's face fans.

After all, Lu Ke is the only girl among the challengers who looks very Lolita-like.

"How do you feel, tired?" After walking for over twenty minutes, Xu Yi turned around and asked.

Given Lu Ke's frail body, she should be tired after walking this far. As for himself, he didn't feel a thing.

Xu Yi believes it's the benefit of the Enhancement Agent.

"Whew… It's okay, much better than I thought." Lu Ke panted slightly, wiped the sweat from her forehead, her eyes showing a bit of delight.

The better her stamina, the less she'll burden Xu Yi.

This is the thought in the little girl's mind.

"The ground is covered with decayed leaves, which might harbor snakes, be cautious; I'm going to cut a small tree." Xu Yi cheerfully said, finally finding a tree the thickness of an arm, then set down the pan.

The Engineer Shovel has serrated edges; Xu Yi quickly sawed through the small tree and dragged it back.

He needs to make some crossbow arrows, otherwise this sole weapon will be useless.

"Is he making crossbow arrows?" Lu Ke seems to have guessed Xu Yi's intention and sweetly smiled at him.

"Yes, this way, if we encounter prey, we can act quickly." Xu Yi winked at Lu Ke and began to saw seven or eight short wooden segments with the Engineer Shovel, then used its sharp side to cautiously split the short wood.

Lu Ke took on the role of lookout, occasionally glancing at Xu Yi.
