Chapter 10 - Chapter 6: The Unfathomable Dr. Lu

Look down on me?

Haha!

This young master won't stoop to your level.

Having figured out a treatment method, Lu Xuan decided not to bother with those old gossips.

A prime minister's stomach can sail a boat.

Of course, Lu Xuan wanted to retort against these old gossips who look at him through the door gap, but thinking that he might need them in the future, he swallowed his anger.

A real man can yield and stretch, enduring what others can't.

Isn't it just enduring?

I'll endure it.

Not for anything else, but for the prescription... no, for the child in front of me to avoid a cut on her tender belly, I have to endure it.

With all her attention on Lu Xuan, Zhou Minjun suddenly saw a flash of joy on his face after pondering for a while. Her heart couldn't help but rise with hope, and she quickly asked, "Dr. Lu, how about it? Do you have any ideas? I really don't want Nini to undergo surgery at such a young age; surgery is too harmful to her primordial qi, and she's only ten months old."

Lu Xuan sighed and said, "There is a solution, but let me also say, as parents, you need to be more careful. How can screws be left where a child can reach? Children naturally like to put everything they get into their mouths; this is unavoidable. But as parents, you are somewhat lacking in this aspect."

"Yes, yes, you're right, Dr. Lu."

Hearing that Lu Xuan has a solution, Zhou Minjun didn't mind the young doctor's reprimand at all and looked at Lu Xuan with eager anticipation.

Lu Xuan pondered for a moment, then looked at Qi Wei: "The child's father, go to the porridge shop across from the health center and buy a bowl of porridge."

Porridge?

Qi Wei was confused and asked a question that left Lu Xuan speechless: "Dr. Lu, are you hungry?"

Lu Xuan nearly slapped his forehead, but luckily Zhou Minjun was quick to react, guessing it might be for Nini. She quickly urged, "Just go and buy it; why ask so many questions?"

Qi Wei scratched the back of his head, feeling awkward, wanting to explain, but under Zhou Minjun's urging gaze, he swallowed back the words that were on the tip of his tongue.

"Alright, alright, I'll go now."

Qi Wei turned and left the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department.

"You wait here for a moment, I'll get some medicine."

Lu Xuan got up and went to the herbal pharmacy next door and turned on the light inside.

He had familiarized himself with the herbal pharmacy at noon the day before. He quickly found where the Bone Charcoal Powder and castor oil were stored. He used parchment paper to take a portion of Bone Charcoal Powder and used a disposable cup to pour a bit of castor oil.

Returning to the consultation room, seeing the still anxious faces of Zhou Minjun and the others, he pointed to a chair and said, "Why don't you sit down for a while? The child's father probably needs a bit longer to get the porridge."

There's a porridge shop across from the health center, but because business is so good, you usually have to queue up, and it might take at least ten minutes.

However, just as Lu Xuan finished speaking, he saw Qi Wei rushing into the consultation room with a bowl of porridge.

"You got it so quickly?"

Lu Xuan was a bit startled and then chuckled, "Looks like the little one's dad had good luck today, no line."

Qi Wei blushed slightly and said, "I told the people in front that it was for a child's treatment, and they all let me jump the queue."

Lu Xuan understood, making a point to take another look at him.

What a wise fool!

"You did something that made me happy this time." Zhou Minjun, who had been giving Qi Wei a hard time, couldn't help but praise her husband at this moment, causing the nearly thirty-year-old man to blush even more.

"Give me the porridge."

"Okay, okay."

Qi Wei placed the packed porridge on the table. Lu Xuan took the porridge, opened the packaging, poured out more than half using a paper cup, leaving only a small portion, then mixed in the Bone Charcoal Powder until it was fully integrated.

"Feed this to the child."

Lu Xuan handed the mixed porridge directly to Zhou Minjun.

Looking at the porridge in front of her, with an unknown powder mixed in, Zhou Minjun calmed down and cautiously looked at Lu Xuan.

"Dr. Lu, this..."

What a child eats, she couldn't help but be cautious.

Lu Xuan understood her concern. If it were his child, he might hesitate too.

"This medicine has no side effects on the child. Since you're here at the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department, you should trust what I say unconditionally."

Lu Xuan said earnestly, "Of course, if you don't trust me, that's okay; you can take the child to the Provincial Women and Children's Hospital or Beijing for a visit, but the likelihood of surgery is higher, so you should be mentally prepared for that."

"This..."

Hearing this, Zhou Minjun gritted her teeth and took the porridge Lu Xuan handed over.

Behind her, her mother-in-law nudged Zhou Minjun in the back.

Instinctively, Zhou Minjun looked back and met her mother-in-law's hesitant gaze.

Her mother-in-law shook her head, glanced at Lu Xuan deep in thought, and signaled her daughter-in-law to step outside.

How could Zhou Minjun not know her mother-in-law's thought? She shook her head at her mother-in-law and whispered, "Mom, Dr. Lu is right, since we're here, we should trust him."

Hearing this, her mother-in-law also sighed and said no more.

The two women most important to him had both made their decision, so Qi Wei had no objections.

Zhou Minjun comforted the crying Nini in her arms. After a while, Nini gradually calmed down, and Zhou Minjun carefully fed her the porridge with a spoon.

It took more than ten minutes to finish the small half bowl of porridge.

"Dr. Lu, the porridge is finished."

Zhou Minjun quickly reminded him.

Lu Xuan snapped back to reality, looked at the now-empty take-out box, and then handed a spoonful of castor oil to Zhou Minjun: "Give this to the child; if she doesn't cry afterward, you can go home."
