Chapter 26 - Chapter 25: One Punch

"Whoa! It's quite lively here."

A young man with a bushy hairstyle crouched steadily on top of a tent.

He looked at the chaos in the nearby Seventh District, his expression seemed increasingly excited.

Inside a certain tent, a man sleeping in the corner sat up.

He listened to the dense gunfire outside and cursed under his breath.

"Who the hell is causing such a big commotion?"

That night, more Death Fighters became aware of the changes in the Seventh District.

Whether they were excited, dissatisfied, or simply spectating from afar.

In short, not a single Death Fighter chose to step out and provoke trouble at this time; all hid in the shadows.

As time passed, more and more Death Fighters arrived at this temporary shelter.

Even though all of them were well aware that a massive slaughter would eventually occur.

But definitely not now; the timing was completely wrong.

The turmoil in the Seventh District tonight wasn't even the prologue.

Some Death Fighters were even puzzled as to why some fool would expose themselves so early.

The gunfire never completely stopped; at most, it became slightly sparser due to concern for civilians.

Cui Qing was sprinting, and as he swung his arms, one could vaguely notice each of his fingernails had grown significantly longer.

The nails were about five centimeters long, combined with the messy blood stains on his body, giving him a sinister aura in the dark.

Panic-stricken civilians along the way looked terrified when they saw him and quickly stepped aside.

Thanks to this, the early stage of Cui Qing's escape was relatively smooth.

But if he turned around now, he'd surely discover a ferocious figure rapidly closing in on him.

Within a few breaths, that figure easily overtook him.

The process was like a gust of wind sweeping past, leaving him unclear of what it was.

"Such petty tricks, daring to show off."

The light laughter from ahead instantly caught Cui Qing's attention.

Lv Bai stood in front of a tent, wearing what Cui Qing thought was an extremely hateful smile.

Cui Qing's previously calm demeanor quickly sank.

The other party was much faster, especially in this situation where he was being hunted; the chance of escape was very slim.

Cui Qing immediately decided he must quickly eliminate Lv Bai first.

Without any hesitation, he charged forward with a determination to act without regret.

The distance between them rapidly closed, and during this time, gray-black patterns appeared on Cui Qing's face and quickly spread.

Watching this, Lv Bai's expression remained unchanged; he only slowly raised his hand and made a fist.

Under the effect of Blood Burst, his skin turned red as if burning intensely from within,

Cui Qing could feel a strong threat from it, but once in a full sprint, he couldn't stop.

He steeled himself, making a blade with his hand, the sharp extended nails aiming straight for Lv Bai's heart.

Yet the situation that unraveled next was completely unexpected for him.

Lv Bai didn't dodge but took on Cui Qing's stab head-on.

Then, a crimson fist, with an overwhelming momentum, landed heavily on Cui Qing's head, leaving him unable to pull back.

Bam!

With that punch.

Cui Qing's head visibly dented, causing his body to spin and be thrown back.

He crashed through two military tents before finally coming to a stop.

[Ding!]

"Whew~"

Lv Bai's body temperature swiftly returned to normal.

He shook the hand he used for punching and let out a sigh: "Didn't expect I'd have to do it myself."

"You said you stayed in the tent all along and never left?"

Zhou Zongming, with his arms crossed, stood in front of Lv Bai, his face showing disbelief.

Lv Bai nodded: "That's right."

Cui Qing was already dead, and as the quick response team started to maintain order, the chaos incited by gunfire soon subsided.

Aside from a dozen unlucky ones running around getting hurt, the others were just a bit frightened at most.

Given the population density of the shelter, honestly, Zhou Zongming was quite satisfied with this outcome.

But Cui Qing's death was a thorn in his side.

Anyone with eyes could tell from Cui Qing's body that his death was due to a blunt force hit to the head.

The problem was right here; they had no idea who had done it.

With Cui Qing's death, many questions, including the whereabouts of the bodies, remained unanswered.

"Who can testify?"

"You can't say I'm lying just because everyone else in the tent is dead, can you?"

Lv Bai's smile seemed harmless: "It was me who helped you find Cui Qing the killer."

In fact, at this moment, Lv Bai also realized why Cui Qing had chosen to start with the tent he was in tonight.

Logically, if everyone else in the tent was killed, leaving Cui Qing alone, he wouldn't be able to explain how he survived the killer's attack.

No matter how cowardly he seemed usually, it would inevitably put a target on his back.

But he did it anyway, clearly to frame Lv Bai.

As for the success rate, it was actually quite high.

After all, in Zhou Zongming's eyes, one was a frail young man who needed his help to avoid being bullied, the other one faced a gruesome scene without flinching, acting strangely; which of them had more credibility was self-evident.

Like now, even though Cui Qing, the apparent psychopathic killer, was dead, Lv Bai still held strong suspicion in Zhou Zongming's mind.

Of course, he didn't think Lv Bai and Cui Qing were in cahoots.

He only suspected that Lv Bai had taken advantage of the chaos to kill Cui Qing.

"Cui Qing isn't dead yet; when we arrived, he still had a breath, though it's uncertain if he can be saved."

As he spoke, Zhou Zongming fixed his eyes on Lv Bai, observing every tiny expression change on his face.

The final result left Zhou Zongming very disappointed; he couldn't discern what Lv Bai was thinking, as he appeared to be wearing a completely meaningless, silly smile.

Lv Bai was very relaxed.

After all these days, he'd somewhat grown accustomed to his strange state.

As long as he didn't actively control it, he would naturally display a harmless smile.

"If you feel unwell anywhere, you can come with me to the infirmary for a check-up."

Zhou Zongming seemed to have set aside his suspicions, instead adopting a business-like tone: "By the way, when you talked with Cui Qing, you mentioned having a gun on you, right? Hand it over?"

"Yes, I have a gun."

Lv Bai pulled out a certain Desert Eagle's firearm from his coat and openly displayed it: "But this is just a model gun, see, it doesn't even have a magazine."
