Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Outlanders

This single gold coin is worth nearly as much as the catch from dozens of days. Not bad, not bad.

Rogel was very satisfied.

After continuing to search around Reef Island, Rogel didn't find any other pleasant surprises.

Then he began to fish.

Next, he deployed a clone, thought for a moment, then took out an octopus, used his ability to control it, and released it into the sea.

Generally speaking, octopuses are slow-moving but have strong burst speed and can also cling to small objects.

Perfect for conducting a comprehensive search of the seabed.

Just a bit slow, but it doesn't matter.

Rogel has plenty of time.

He is already prepared to stay on Sea Serpent Island for a while.

The octopus entered the sea, slowly swimming toward the deep sea.

Before consuming the Magic Potion, Rogel's character couldn't stay underwater for long, and without a suitable creature to merge with, he didn't explore the deep sea.

However, after becoming an Extraordinary, his physical fitness increased drastically, significantly extending his breath-hold time and diving depth.

Although octopuses move slowly, they escape quickly and can carry small items without issue.

Therefore, Rogel can now explore deeper sea areas.

Hopefully, this exploration will yield good results.

Ideally, he would find a shipwreck full of gold coins.

Maybe belonging to the Black Brick Pirate Gang.

Indeed, he's always had his eye on the missing Black Brick Pirate Gang.

After all, in a normal game, hearing such rumors invariably indicates a solid side quest.

It's uncertain whether it will be the same in the Mysterious Sea.

Rogel pulled out the new fishing rod he bought in town, attached the bait to the hook, and felt a little anticipation.

After some time.

Rogel's anticipation gradually extinguished.

He had been fishing for two or three hours but only caught some ordinary marine creatures, not even a valuable fish.

But Rogel wasn't too disappointed.

Soon after, Rogel concluded his morning fishing exploration and sailed his boat back to Sea Serpent Island.

While passing by the dock, Rogel noticed a relatively large ship.

Though large, this ship appeared somewhat damaged, even scorched in places, as if it had been shelled.

It seems outsiders have arrived.

Rogel headed toward the town, lost in thought.

[A total of 2 Silver Coins and 36 Copper Coins.]

After tallying Rogel's catch, the shop owner handed him the money.

Rogel frowned slightly; despite catching more fish than yesterday, the price was considerably lower. He began to argue with the shop owner.

However, the shop owner shrugged, expressing helplessness.

Sea Serpent Island is an island with very little arable land; many town residents rely on fishing for survival, resulting in no scarcity of seafood on the island.

Additionally, the shop owner couldn't afford to buy too much fish, hence the price drop, even suggesting he might not buy any more fish from Rogel in the future.

Rogel felt a bit frustrated at these words.

What the shop owner said made sense.

This made the world's authenticity more palpable for Rogel.

[You could wait for trading ships from outside islands; they offer higher prices.]

[Perhaps a merchant ship will arrive tomorrow afternoon.]

The shop owner kindly mentioned.

Rogel nodded in thanks and departed the shop.

Although the shop owner was merely a businessman, he was comparatively better than the tavern owner.

But for Rogel, this was ultimately not good news.

Though the merchant caravan's buying price is slightly higher, they don't visit every day.

Even though Rogel has an Item Inventory, its capacity is limited and can't store large quantities of sea fish.

Thus, Rogel felt he must find a new way to make money.

Otherwise, gathering funds to build a large ship would be challenging.

After leaving the shop, Rogel didn't head to Felik's shipyard immediately but rather to the town clinic.

Though the health reduced from his poisoned state was slowly recovering, it was taking too long.

Hence, Rogel decided to visit Lina for some healing and to foster a connection.

Of course, he wasn't sure if the clinic even had a healing function.

But as Rogel approached the clinic, he noticed a group of injured outsiders hurriedly leaving.

Why assume they were outsiders?

Although Rogel hadn't been on Sea Serpent Island for long and couldn't recognize all the residents, these people's clothing was unmistakably distinctive.

Tattered and damaged attire, injured arms, crippled legs, bloody bodies, wrapped in numerous bandages.

Clearly, they had just undergone a battle.

Looks like they're the owners of the damaged large ship.

Rogel pondered for a moment and decided to go over to greet them while observing to see if any opportunities arose for subtle inquiry.

Yet, as he approached them, they became instantly alert.

One of them immediately reached for the flintlock gun at his waist.

[Kid, what do you want?]

He seemed to be the only uninjured person among them, with fierce, blade-sharp eyes concealed under his messy, long hair.

[Don't worry, I mean no harm.]

[Are you folks from outside Sea Serpent Island?]

Rogel attempted to inquire.

Then used the game function to check some information on these people.

[Human]

[Type: Creature]

[Quality: Elite]

[Level: 2]

[Tier: Ordinary]

[Explanation: Adult humans with some combat ability.]

After scanning them, he found no Extraordinary among them; they appeared to be regular people.

And were extremely wary of him, showing hostility.

But this was normal, and Rogel didn't mind.

Even in the game world, he adhered to his principles—if no one offends him, he won't offend them.

Therefore, he won't get angry at their unfriendly attitude.

Even if he could reload the game, it'd be the same.

Whether in games or not, Rogel wouldn't go against his inner principles, even if profits beckoned.

While contemplating, Rogel silently saved his progress.

[Madu.]

An injured middle-aged man with a bristly beard restrained the long-haired man's actions and gave Rogel a deep look.

Without saying much, the bearded man turned and left with his group.

Rogel, intrigued, entered the clinic.

Lina was organizing things on the table, surprised to see Rogel arrive, then smiled.

[Rogel, it's you, is there something you need?]

Rogel didn't speak, instead showed Lina a wound.

Upon seeing the wound, Lina's expression turned solemn, but after careful inspection, she sighed in relief.

[Looks like you're lucky; this snake is non-venomous.]

Lina then proceeded to disinfect and bandage Rogel.

Rogel didn't explain that the poisoned state had passed; it's likely quite shocking.

[Who were those people that just left?]

Lina shook her head at his words.

[I'm not sure.]

[But their injuries are severe; they seem to have just fought a big battle.]

[Perhaps pirates or bounty hunters.]
