Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 "The Loop (2)"

Adil ran again—cutting through the ruins, dodging collapsed beams, trying a new route.

But it didn't matter.

He stopped.

Same bent pipe. Same scorch mark. Same flickering billboard.

Adil (thinking): As expected… I'm stuck in a loop.

He turned slowly toward the broken house.

There—again—SCP-055.[1]

Blurred. Fading. Watching.

[System Glitch Detected] [SCP-055 Proximity Alert]

Adil blinked.

"…What was I doing?"

Kael appeared again, annoyed.

Kael: "Where are you? Lost in thought?"

But this time, Adil didn't move.

He stood still.

Watched as SCP-939 arrived.

Kael stepped forward, eyes glowing faintly.

Kael: "What an ugly creature is that?"

SCP-939 lunged.

Kael slid sideways—fast and fluid—grabbing a rusted pipe mid-motion.

He slammed it into the creature's ribs—CRACK—and it shrieked, releasing a burst of hallucinogenic gas.

Kael staggered, vision blurring, but kept fighting.

Adil didn't interfere.

He just watched.

Then—

[SYSTEM OVERRIDE] [SCP-4382 DETECTED] [CODE: I-FORGOR] [PATTERN BREAK: 1 REGISTERED] [3 REMAINING]

Adil (thinking):Pattern break? So that means I'm inside the loop of SCP-4382. I don't know much about this SCP, but I can break the loop by disrupting the pattern—like watching instead of running, like I did before. That counts too. So… what other patterns do I need to break?

He started walking—zigzagging through the ruins, climbing over debris, ducking under collapsed beams. He tried every direction.

But still…

Same pipe. Same scorch. Same billboard.

Adil (thinking): Huh… why am I here again? Again and again?

He turned toward the house.

SCP-055.

System glitch.

Memory slipped.

Kael looked at him.

Kael:"Where are you? Lost in thought?"

Adil didn't answer.

He just nodded.

Adil: "This time… I'll watch again."

Then—

[PATTERN BREAK: 1 REGISTERED] [3 REMAINING]

Adil (thinking): Still just one? Watching isn't enough.

Then he moved.

He ran toward Kael mid-fight.

SCP-939 lunged again—this time faster, more aggressive.

Kael staggered.

Adil quickly grabbed the metal pipe that had fallen from Kael and struck the creature while dodging its attack.

Kael recovered and grabbed another sharp object.

Together, they brought it down.

Blood sprayed.

The fog pulsed.

Then—

[PATTERN BREAK: 2 REGISTERED] [2 REMAINING]

Adil (thinking): Okay. I get it now. I have to break every expected move. Every looped reaction. Only then will I be able to escape.

 Scene Shift

Kael's body was limp, blood trailing behind him as SCP-939 dragged him through the ruins. Its claws scraped against rusted metal, leaving deep gouges in the floor. The fog thinned as they descended into a collapsed tunnel—one that hadn't been touched in years.

The air grew colder.

The walls flickered with static.

Old warning signs lined the corridor: "SCP-939 Containment Sector – Access Restricted"

Kael's fingers twitched.

His breath was shallow.

His mind was still trapped in the hallucination—fighting, winning, repeating.

But his body was being pulled deeper.

SCP-939 reached a rusted blast door, half-open, bent from a past breach. It dragged Kael inside.

The chamber was massive.

Broken restraints hung from the walls. Bloodstains. Scratched numbers. A shattered observation window.

This was once a containment cell.

Now it was a nest.

Bones. Debris. Shredded gear from past victims.

SCP-939 dropped Kael onto the cold floor.

Its eyeless head tilted, mimicking his voice.

"That was easy…"

Kael's eyes fluttered open—just for a second.

He saw the restraints.

The claw marks.

The bones.

Then darkness again.

Darkness.

Around him, the chamber pulsed with silence. There were four more figures.

They were all trapped.

Captives. Survivors. Forgotten.

None of them dared speak above a whisper.

Outside the chamber, the low growl of SCP-939s echoed through the corridor. Multiple. Hunting. Guarding.

Every few minutes, one of them passed by the blast door—sniffing, listening, mimicking.

"Help me…""Please… someone…"

[1] SCP-055 is known as the "self-keeping secret." It’s an anomalous entity that cannot be remembered or described. Anyone who observes it immediately forgets what it looks like, what it does, or even that they interacted with it. Even written records about SCP-055 mysteriously lose detail or become unreadable
