Chapter 33 - Flying Eagle Town

The Flying Eagle Town is larger than I expected. Its area is at least ten times larger than our Lost Village. However, it still has a significant gap compared to Sunset City.

There are several stores of each type in the town, but there are no high-end stores like pet shops or sculpture shops. Some buildings in the town are not allowed to be constructed by village units, such as hospitals, churches, and schools. Hearing the singing in the church and the children's reading in the school, my tired heart became relaxed.

Strangely, this town with such perfect facilities seems very quiet. There are few players walking around in the town. Could it be that everyone has gone out to fight monsters? But usually, there should be a considerable proportion of life profession players trading or crafting things in the town.

However, I know that my task has a time limit, so I didn't wander around in the town. I directly found the residence of the town leader.

The gate guard saw my "village chief" badge and immediately let me in.

The leader of the Flying Eagle Town is also an old man. It seems that every village likes to select respected and influential people as leaders. I, as this village chief, can be considered an exception.

I came straight to the point and said to the mayor, "I'm here to inquire about the 'Wicked Eagles' incident."

The mayor gave a murmur: "Have you heard about it in your town as well? Well, our Flying Eagle Town has always been renowned throughout the country for our eagle population, and our eagles have always been very kind and never attack humans on their own initiative. The trained eagles used by the nobility and aristocrats were all presented to us, and many hunters from all over the country come here to select eagles. However, since a large number of players were born in the town, the situation has changed."

I guessed: "Could it be that the players attacked the eagle population, thus triggering the rebellion of the eagles?"

The mayor nodded: "Yes. At first, these players were of low level and didn't dare to attack the eagle population. But as their strength increased, they were able to kill the eagles, and this became increasingly unacceptable. At first, some eagle species like Hawks and Kites turned aggressive towards the players, but these eagles were not very high in level, so the situation wasn't serious. However, later, the eagle population began to mutate, and a considerable number of new species called 'Wicked Eagles' emerged. Due to these Wicked Eagles being of high level and attacking the players actively, miners, woodcutters, and other players who have occupations related to mining and logging have been unable to collect materials, so most of the players with such occupations have moved away. Alas."

I gave a murmur: "So, what can I do?"

The mayor sighed: "The king has ordered the elimination of the 'Wicked Eagles'. As long as you can kill all the Wicked Eagles, the system will award you bonus points."

I exclaimed: "No way! Killing all the Wicked Eagles? How many? What level are they?"

The mayor shook his head: "I don't know. The number of Wicked Eagles is increasing every day. Now, it's probably several hundred. The usual level of Wicked Eagles is 40."

I was stunned. Could such a task be something I could accomplish at level 30? The messenger, you're being too excessive! You took me a lot of gold but asked me to do such an impossible task!

I walked out of the town muttering to myself. The mayor followed me and said, "By the way, another player came to take on this mission the day before yesterday. According to the rules, you two can complete the mission together. The person's achievements will be calculated based on the number of eagles you kill. That player is called 'Fantasy Divine God'." Hearing this, I regained hope. If the Tiger King and his team came online to help, maybe we could complete this mission together.

I went to the town's bookstore and collected all the books I didn't have. I also gained six skills and two method books. I sold the materials that weren't useful to me and bought enough blue potions. Then I mounted Flying and rode out of the town.

As soon as I left the town, I saw thousands of flying eagles in the sky. I used the detection spell to check and found that they were only at level 10. After walking a little further, there were eagles at level 20 and above. There were some low-level players in groups of three or four using spells and bows to shoot the eagles. These eagles would only attack if they were hit. It seemed that there were no evil eagles here.

At this moment, I heard a very shrill voice calling out: "Don't kill the eagles! Don't do it!"

I looked in the direction of the voice and saw a thin figure chasing some players. He kept shouting not to kill the eagles.

I walked over and saw that this thin player was actually a little glasses-wearer. He seemed to be only about ten years old. He looked very weak and was wearing the most ordinary beginner's equipment.

Due to the success of the surgery to correct my myopia, glasses were very rare in our era. When creating characters in the game, only the player's original appearance would be simulated, and no glasses would be added. This was the first time I had seen a player wearing glasses in the game, so I curiously watched what he was doing.

This little boy was shouting in a shrill voice and trying to pull the hands of the players who were killing the eagles, preventing them from using magic and shooting arrows. The players were extremely annoyed and wanted to hide, but the boy would chase them. Hit him, they wouldn't want to leave.

Finally, a mage got impatient and threw two ice arrows, knocking the little glasses-wearer off.

I secretly laughed. This game really had everyone. There was someone who wanted to stop people from killing monsters. What was the point of playing the game if you didn't kill monsters?

I couldn't help asking the several players in front of me, "What is this little glasses-wearer doing? Why don't you let him kill the eagles? Is he from the Animal Protection Association, huh?"

The several players laughed, but the mage who was killing the eagles didn't want to laugh. After all, a +1 in the evil value was a very depressing thing.

An archer laughed, "This little guy said that eagles are friends of humans. They specifically eat mice, snakes, sparrows, and other things, and play a very important role in protecting the grassland. If too many eagles are killed, the growth of those harmful animals will speed up, and one day it will affect humans."

I touched my head and felt that what this little glasses person was saying wasn't completely without reason. There was indeed a sense of protecting the environment. You know, the damage that human society has caused to nature is truly terrifying. It disrupts the food chain, disrupts the ecological balance, and can lead to very serious consequences. I remember that in the year when I had the accident, the degree of desertification in China had reached half of the country's land area, and in most cities, the sand dust was very severe.

However, this is a game, and the game environment will adjust itself. Any monsters that die will be replaced by new ones. If certain monsters reproduce too quickly, the game host will impose disasters or limit their growth. Such situations as those in reality will not occur here. However, this little-eyed boy has such a sense of foreboding at such a young age. I shouldn't ridicule him anymore.

I shook my head and continued on my way. Finally, a group of eagles above level 30 appeared in front of me.

In this area, players who kill eagles to level up usually have a level higher than 30, and they are usually in groups of about a dozen people, with the majority being ranged attackers. Here, the use of melee combat classes like warriors is not very useful, so each group has at most two or three melee players and one priest.

Within my line of sight, there were six or seven groups of players. Their chests all had a badge. I approached to observe and found that it was a gang badge. These people originally belonged to a gang called "Eagle Slayer Guild".

So, there are gangs in the game already. I remember that forming a gang requires a level of 45 or above, and one must have considerable reputation to do so. Now that there is a gang in this town, it indicates that there are already quite a lot of 45-level players.

They saw me approaching and shouted at me: "Kid, don't interfere with us. If you dare to lure monsters randomly, we'll P you!"

I frowned inwardly. Gang members are different. They always want to P others. Forget it. I won't bother with them. Besides, I don't have the ability to deal with them now.

I suppressed my anger and said calmly: "I'm here to find the evil eagle. May I ask if there is one here?"

The players in front of me burst into laughter: "With you? 30-level, looking for an evil eagle? You're asking for trouble! We have so many people, and none of us would dare to provoke them easily."

I patiently asked: "Then, may I ask if you have seen a player called 'Fantasy Divine God'?"

The others stopped laughing: "Oh, so you're with that crazy guy? You have a good ally then. That guy is in that direction."

It seems that this "Fantasy Divine God" is quite extraordinary. I galloped towards the direction they pointed.
