Chapter 66 – A Horrifying Method

Lusa spoke as he watched Einver press his sword against Sai Mo's chest. Sai Mo's expression was calm and composed, while Lusa remained on edge, ready to strike at any moment if Einver made another move. He had already decided—if it came to it, he would fight with all his might to protect the son of his dearest friend.

This is the least I can do. Even if I die trying... I must protect Sai Mo. Otherwise, my friend's spirit will never rest.

Before, Lusa had lived in sorrow for his friend, but even deeper sorrow for his brother. Now that he knew the truth, he resolved to sacrifice his life if necessary—for Sai Mo's sake.

In a calm voice, Lusa asked,

"What happened that made you break the illusion? How did you manage to escape it?"

Einver slowly moved his sword away from Sai Mo and placed it against Lusa's chest instead. Lusa gave a faint, almost relieved smile, as if he had narrowly escaped a death sentence in the strangest way imaginable.

Einver positioned the blade near Lusa's heart and spoke quietly, steadily:

"In my last life, before escaping, I still remembered everything from my past lives.

I remember how many times I tried to save my mother and siblings—and failed...

How many times I tried to avenge them—and failed...

How many times I was killed and tortured by my mother's murderers... again and again...

I tried everything, and nothing worked. I tried fighting—but couldn't. I tried running away with my mother—but couldn't. I tried everything."

He fell silent for a few moments, then lifted his gaze toward the starless, dark sky, as though it were listening to him in silence, before continuing:

"In the final attempt, in my final life... I woke up to my mother's voice calling me for breakfast. I opened my door and went to the kitchen. There she was—smiling gently as she cooked, radiant with warmth and joy. My siblings were in the other room, chatting happily, waiting for the meal."

He smiled faintly, remembering.

"She looked at me... my mother, truly her—my kind, gentle, beautiful mother. I told myself it was real. It had to be real. Everything else was just a nightmare.

I tried convincing myself… but how do you convince a dead man that he's still alive?"

Lusa asked softly, "How do you convince him?"

Einver smiled faintly.

"Exactly... that's why I did what I couldn't do the first time. I walked toward my mother—slowly, firmly. She turned around, looked at me with those kind eyes, that beautiful smile... My entire body trembled uncontrollably. She placed her hand on my shoulder and asked, 'Are you alright, my son?'

Do you know what I did?"

He smiled faintly again.

"I smiled back at her... then took my sword and plunged it into her heart."

Einver's voice grew quiet.

Lusa looked at him, speechless.

Both he and Sai Mo thought the same thing in that moment—this young man had endured millions of illusions, watching his mother die before his eyes countless times. And in the end, the only way he could escape was by shattering that illusion—and his own heart along with it.

He had killed his mother with his own hands. What could they possibly say to him?

Einver continued in the same quiet tone:

"I didn't stop there... I went and killed all my siblings, one by one.

I killed them. Severed their heads. Pierced their hearts. Tore their bodies apart. I killed every single one of them."

When he finished speaking, his sword slipped from his hand and fell to the ground.

After a long, heavy silence, Einver stood up, his face completely devoid of emotion. He walked toward the great stone wall of the Forest of Dreams. It was massive, ancient, and sturdy—built many years ago, still standing strong.

Einver placed his hand against the wall and tapped it gently—a light, almost tender touch—then turned toward Lusa and spoke in a calm, composed tone:

"Old man... you too, boy... step back now, and quickly. I can't control my anger anymore. Move before it's too late. This is my only warning."

He gave a faint, almost kind smile.

Lusa didn't fully understand what was happening, but a terrible feeling settled in his gut. Sai Mo's instincts as a killer screamed at him to back away immediately.

Lusa's soldiers were barely ten to twenty paces away, while he himself was about thirty or more from where Einver stood.

He turned to his men and shouted,

"Fall back! Everyone, retreat immediately!"

He yelled the order at the top of his lungs, then began running back. The soldiers, though confused, didn't hesitate to obey. Within moments, they had retreated about a hundred paces from the wall.

Sai Mo stood beside Lusa, both watching Einver warily.

From afar, Lusa and his troops observed.

Then, Einver turned toward the wall. In a single instant, he released the aura of "Heavenly Realm – First Division."

That pure, celestial aura merged with the dark energy within him—the energy of the mad killer—and he unleashed the full force of the Blooded Darkness Technique.

A crimson, infernal aura erupted around him, engulfing not only his body but also a portion of the Forest of Dreams. Some of Lusa's soldiers were caught within its range, though the others, farther away, were spared.

Those trapped within the aura felt themselves being crushed under its overwhelming power. Sai Mo trembled as he watched.

He's not human... He's a demon king.

No one could move. Everything within the crimson circle froze, until a bestial roar erupted—a demonic bellow that shattered the air and hearts alike.

The heavens and the earth shook from that roar.

Einver screamed in agony, raising his fist and slamming it into the wall.

He struck once, then again—and on the third strike, the entire wall shattered.

His hand split open, bleeding profusely. He hadn't used any aura or defensive technique to protect himself—only his bare flesh, bones, and sheer strength, empowered by his magical and physical force. Three punches were enough to bring the massive wall down.

When it collapsed, everyone felt a strange mix of emotions—fear, sorrow, pity, grief—all aimed at that broken young man. Especially Lusa and Sai Mo, who had heard his entire story from beginning to end.

Then came a dull sound—the soft thud of Einver's forehead striking another wall.

Lusa's heart sank. He realized what Einver intended to do. He tried to move—but it was too late.

Einver pulled back his head and slammed it again into the wall.

Blood poured down his face, mixed with tears. His features were distorted by pain and despair.

He felt as though the world itself had turned against him. He had killed his mother, torn apart his siblings—even if it had all been an illusion, try telling that to a man who has lived through centuries of torment. Einver would not believe you.

But when he tried to strike his head again, the aura around him suddenly vanished—dissipating into nothingness. Sai Mo had absorbed what remained of Einver's magic energy during the illusion. Now, there was nothing left.

Lusa and his men, freed from the crushing aura, gasped for air, trembling and pale.

Einver felt his power fade away—but he didn't stop.

Lusa and Sai Mo could tell from his eyes that he intended to try again.

Lusa rushed toward him—but a dark blur moved faster. Sai Mo.

He reached Einver and placed a hand on his shoulder. But before he could say a word, Einver turned, his face drenched in blood, his eyes glowing crimson with rage.

He struck Sai Mo in the chest, forcing him back three steps.

The hit wasn't strong enough to injure him—Sai Mo had simply stepped back in shock. Einver was no longer using magic or energy, only his raw human strength. But how could a mere human strike with such power against someone in the Yin-Yang Realm – Upper Division?

Einver roared,

"You damned brat! Didn't I tell you to fall back!? Step away now—or I'll kill you right here and now! Do you understand!?"

Sai Mo stepped forward again, but this time, he moved faster—striking Einver in the neck with just enough strength to knock him unconscious.

Einver collapsed to the ground, senseless.

Lusa sighed heavily, his heart aching. Then he shouted,

"Bring me some strong chains! Bind this boy—quickly! We're taking him to the Phoenix Fire City immediately!"
