Chapter 65 – Endless Torment

"I said… who are you, and where are my mother and siblings?! Tell me now, or you will witness a torment beyond imagination! Where are they? Tell me what happened!"

Einver's voice was calm—too calm—but the dark aura surging from his body made those words sound like the most terrifying thing the soldiers had ever heard, a direct threat to their very souls.

Lord Lou Sa's heart quivered in fear, yet as a leader and lord, he forced himself to stand firm against Einver's oppressive power. Gathering every ounce of courage within him, he replied,

"Young man… you're the one who entered the Forest of Dreams two months ago with my sons. The guard reported it to me… don't you remember? Try to recall."

He spoke carefully, preparing for a counterattack in case Einver refused to listen.

Einver closed his eyes for a few seconds—but those seconds felt like an eternity. The soldiers felt as though his eyes had shut forever, for the dreadful energy radiating from his body froze the air itself.

When he finally opened them again, his gaze carried a sorrow so deep it silenced the world around him. He spoke quietly,

"Ah… that's right. They all died… How foolish of me."

He tilted his head toward the darkened sky and sighed,

"How long has it been since I entered the Forest of Dreams?"

"Two months," Lou Sa replied.

Einver slowly lowered his sword and sat down quietly on the ground. Lou Sa followed and sat across from him.

When Einver raised his head, he saw Sai Mo some distance away, holding his stomach from the powerful strike he had suffered earlier.

Einver looked at him with that red, life-hating eye of his, and Sai Mo's body trembled under its madness. Then, surprisingly, Einver sighed and gestured for him to sit. Sai Mo hesitated, then obeyed.

Lou Sa glanced between the two men. He didn't fully recognize Sai Mo but felt gratitude for his earlier help. He smiled softly at him, though Sai Mo ignored it completely.

The lord exhaled and turned back to Einver.

"Tell me, boy, what happened? And who are those two bodies you brought?"

Einver exhaled with deep pain before answering,

"What happened is that I was tortured for a hundred and twenty years. Those children were tortured for about a year, then Sai Mo took them out and began feeding on them to grow stronger. But he left me behind… in hell."

Lou Sa's face turned grim, but it was Sai Mo whose expression changed the most—his eyes flared with rage and grief, burning like a storm of fire.

He grabbed Einver by the neck, shouting,

"How do you know Sai Mo?! Answer me! How did you meet him? Where is he now?!"

Einver looked at him and replied quietly,

"You resemble him a lot, boy… Are you Sai Mo?"

Sai Mo froze, trembling violently. Lou Sa's features shifted in disbelief.

"What do you mean? Are you the son of Sai Mai?"

He pointed toward Sai Mo in shock, and Sai Mo nodded faintly before turning back to Einver, who said in an eerily calm voice,

"Calm down, boy… can't you see I'm speaking?"

Sai Mo took a deep breath, forcing himself to sit again. Lou Sa wanted to press for more answers but stopped when a strange realization struck him:

This boy said he was tortured for 120 years… what does that mean?

Lou Sa finally asked,

"What do you mean, 120 years? It's only been two months, boy."

Einver sighed softly.

"Old man, listen carefully. Inside the Forest of Dreams, there was one ruler—Sai Mo. In the real world, a single minute equals two days inside his domain. You can calculate the rest yourself."

Lou Sa and Sai Mo both turned pale. One hundred and twenty years of torment—how could any sane being survive that?

Lou Sa then remembered the corpses Einver had carried. He looked toward Lou Rei and Lou Rai—his beloved daughters—and felt the full weight of despair crushing him.

Before he could move, Einver spoke again, clutching his head.

"Don't forget this girl."

He moved his hand, entering his spiritual sea, and a faint light appeared before him—revealing another figure.

It was Ma Yui.

Einver said,

"I tried to take all of them into my spiritual sea, but those two girls were stronger than me, so I could only carry them out physically. This girl, though, was about equal to my power, so I stored her within me. The two sisters are exhausted and drained… but their lives aren't in danger. Just give them care and rest—they'll recover… perhaps."

Sai Mo stared at Ma Yui, his expression twisting with guilt and sorrow. She was the girl he had spared that night—the same night her father had been killed. Even after the years, he recognized her instantly.

Lou Sa barked out orders to the soldiers, commanding them to carry the girls to the city for immediate treatment.

Soon, only Lou Sa, a few soldiers, Einver, and Sai Mo remained.

Einver sat in silence for several minutes before speaking again.

"Ask. I know you have many questions. Go ahead—ask while I still have my mind."

Lou Sa lifted his head.

"What happened inside the Forest of Dreams? And this Sai Mo you mentioned… was he truly Sai Mai's son?"

Lou Sa had known Sai Mai and Sai Mo, though he hadn't met the latter in person.

Sai Mo looked as if he might strike Lou Sa from sheer frustration, but Einver began to speak first.

He told them everything. Every detail. Every event within that cursed forest. He described the history of Sai Mai, his son, and his nephew—the dark war, the twisted ambitions, and the endless suffering.

Tears welled up in Lou Sa's eyes.

"Sai Mai… my old friend… is that truly what happened? Why… why did my brother do all this? Sai Mai never did anything wrong!"

Sai Mo's body trembled violently, tears streaming down his face. Einver had not lied. He had told the full, unbearable truth. Sai Mo remembered his father, his brother, his family—and wept bitterly.

Einver then said,

"All because of the Four Kings Tournament. Years ago, just a week before the tournament, your brother attacked the Red Light Village to kill Sai Mo—your nephew—because of his growing strength. That's what I understood."

Sai Mo stopped crying and turned toward Lou Sa. He recounted everything—how his brother captured him, tortured him, and falsely accused him; how he escaped, and how he took revenge afterward. He didn't mention Hayden, but revealed everything else. The time for hiding the truth had passed.

Lou Sa cried in anguish for his fallen friend Sai Mai, realizing now that his own brother had murdered him out of greed and ambition.

Einver lifted his head toward the dark sky. It was empty of stars; the world above was drowned in shadow, and only a faint moonlight seeped through drifting clouds.

Sai Mo spoke quietly,

"You said you were tortured for 120 years… What happened during all those years? And where is Sai Moi now?"

Einver was silent for several minutes. Then, he picked up his sword, holding it toward Sai Mo and Lou Sa.

One of the soldiers stirred in alarm, but Lou Sa raised his hand, stopping him.

Einver placed the tip of the sword directly over Sai Mo's chest—right on his heart—and said,

"I committed the greatest sin in human history just to break free from Sai Moi's illusion. After I shattered his technique, I destroyed what remained of his soul—him and all his bloodline."

His voice grew heavier as he continued,

"In that illusion, Sai Moi showed me my life before I entered the world of martial cultivation. I lived peacefully with my mother and siblings. I believed it completely—believed that everything else was just a bad dream. I lived with my mother for a few days, thinking it was real… until four men appeared and killed her before my eyes. I couldn't do anything. And every time… it repeated. Again and again. For 120 years, I watched her die in front of me—over and over—and I could never save her… or take revenge."

Lou Sa and Sai Mo's faces turned dark and mournful as they looked upon the broken young man before them.

Lou Sa finally asked,

"What made you break the illusion? How did you shatter it and escape?"
