Chapter 23 - Mega Evolve.

Despite all the continuous strain on my mind and body. I soon woke up. Looking around me, I realized it couldn't have been for much more than one minute.

'Huh?!'

'Did I even faint?'

"Ahh!!"

Everyone was looking at me.

My Pokémon were still in the air.

The eyes of the humans were practically covered with greed.

However, the woman in the lead, whose eyes were cold, changed to a look of pity.

I couldn't exactly understand what was going through her head, but the changed expression looked promising.

'Maybe I could build on that. Try to make them leave us.'

But before I could even open my mouth, she spoke.

"From this moment forth, you will be under my care."

Saying this, she turned and glanced at her Metagross and Alazakam, who released my Pokémon and Arcanine from their Psychic.

As soon as they released them, they came between me and the rest of the humans as if trying to defend me from them.

"But Agent Valkyrie-- that Zeraora and Zorua, also Jangmo-o"

A tough-looking woman with a blue colored uniform spoke up.

"What about them?"

The leader replied casually as if she wasn't worth taking to. This condescending attitude caused the woman to feel demeaned and invalidated. In front of the Agent, she could do nothing but grunt quietly with her head hanging low.

That's when another dude, who was a little too close to the woman, spoke up,

"But Agent, he is just a kid, he won't be able to take care of or train these mythical and pseudo-legendary Pokémon, forget feeding them. We could take much better care of them."

After voicing his displeasure, he looked around to the others to gather support.

After seeing the others nodding their heads in favor of the grunt, Agent Valkyrie sighed.

"Yeah, about his Pokémon. They belong to him. And, now that he is under my care, I guess I will be taking care of them. Are you challenging me now?"

Although she spoke with a smile on her face, everyone here, including the Pokémon, felt a chill down their spine. With just a tint of her murderous glare, everyone here quickly shut up.

I, however, soon realized that my impromptu plan created a massive plot twist in my life. As I was wondering what to do next, one of the grunts gathered up every courage they had and started speaking up to the others.

"Oh, come on, guys, her other Pokémon are injured. She only has her Alazakam and Metagross left. Even they must be low on stamina. If we come together, we can take all her elite-level Pokemons and also the kid's mythicals."

As soon as he said those words, something in the others clicked. All of them had been thinking about the same thing but had not voiced it out loud. However, the guy said those words, everyone immediately decided, after giving each other a glance and a nod, they each took out several Poké Balls from their undercoats and pockets and sent out several Pokémon.

A Leavanny, Dewgong, Shelgon, Frogadier, Tinkatuff, Lycanroc, Bayleef, and several Electrode came forward as multiple red and white flashes of light came into view. As soon as they came out, they started releasing a strange pressure onto their surroundings.

"Huh?!! Despite already catching such powerful Pokémon with great potential, you still want to risk it. Very well."

Behind my Pokemon, as I was already afraid of being hurt or worse, killed, I started panicking.

At least if I went along with that woman, maybe I could learn a bit more about the outside world before I made my decision. But this change of events clearly wasn't in my favor. If the woman is defeated here, I doubt I will be kept alive. Those grunts are clearly after my Pokémon to the extent of going against their leader or commander; they sure won't care enough for my life.

I turned to see whether the woman would panic and leave, but she stayed calm and relaxed as she quietly watched them releasing their main attack Pokémons. Watching her, even I left a little calm in my heart.

'Surely, she won't be an over-confident leader, right?'

After a few seconds, when all their Pokémon had assembled between them, she glanced ahead. Both of her Pokémon, Alakazam and Metagross, came in front of her.

Just then, she said, "Come out."

And, a shadow emerged from her shadow. The emerging shadow suddenly took the form of a deep purple Pokémon.

'GENGAR!!!'

I shouted in my head.

Seeing the Gengar pop out, the faces of the grunts started twitching as if they already regretted their decision to revolt. However, what was done was done, there was no going back, and they knew it.

Then the Agent spoke.

"You lowly people, call that a presence?!! Pathetic. Gengar!! Show them what an oppressive presence feels like."

Receiving her command, Genger suddenly dashed forward, and with a chuckle-like sound,

"HHeee Heeee HEHE Hehe, Genge---"

As if right on cue, the entire area felt dark. Metagross and Alazakam also stopped holding back, which made it difficult to even stand.

However, soon the grunts realized they couldn't be on the back foot the entire time; they had to make sure they killed the Agent, otherwise they wouldn't have a place to return to.

"Leavanny, Solar Beam."

"Shellgon, Dargon Pulse."

The quiet girl gave out both orders, so that's why she didn't seem so interested in my Pokémon. She already had a pseudo-legendary Pokémon of her own.

But, I didn't understand, if not for my Pokémon, why would she go against her leader?

Anyway, soon the others also started giving orders.

"Dewgong, Ice Beam."

"Frogadier, Water Pulse."

"Tinkatuff, use Steal Beam."

"Lycanroc, use Rock Throw."

"Bayleef, use Leaf Blade."

Also, each of them seemed to have an electrode, to whom they all ordered Roll Out at the same time.

The Agent Valkyrie calmly watched all of this happen, without a hint of fear or doubt. She slightly tucked her hair outside, showing an ear, or rather, showing a stone placed in the earring.

From the earring, three beams of rainbow colored light, the signature Mega Evolution energy went towards the Pokémon. They split, connecting simultaneously with the three Pokémon positioned in a perfect tactical triangle around her, as she said the words:

"Gengar, Metagross, Alakazam, MEGA Evolve!!!"

The shadowy, laughing form of Gengar swelled, its light turning a venomous, sickly magenta. As the light faded, Mega Gengar appeared—its lower half dissolving into a swirling, gravitational vortex of dark energy, anchoring it to the ground.

Simultaneously, Alakazam's body became impossibly light, taking on an ethereal quality. It's two spoons multiplied into five, and its head expanded, growing a magnificent red beard filled to the brim with psychic energy. Mega Alakazam hovered silently, the air around it shimmering with intense mental force.

The massive, metallic body of Metagross underwent the most dramatic physical transformation. It flattened and widened, its four legs splayed out. Its massive brain grew visible behind a clear, armored dome. And thus, Mega Metagross was ready for action.
