Chapter 13 - A kind stranger

The loud sound of heavy footsteps roared in my ears, forcing my eyes open, and for a moment, I cursed inwardly for even letting sleep crawl into them.

I didn't get a chance to take in what was going on when two strong arms gripped me and pulled me out of the room.

My legs fumbled to gain balance against the imposing force dragging me along, and the next thing I realized, my knees buckled onto the floor with a hard sound.

Smack!

A loud slap creased my cheek, sending me crashing to the floor even before I could blink.

For a moment, everything fell like echoes in my ears, muffled whimpers rhyming in fragments.

"Tell me, what have I ever done to you? Why bring me so much pain and more sorrow?" that angry voice roared, breaking through the fragments of my broken heart.

"I've never offended you. If I did, which I doubt, why not come to me concerning it?" he barked, and I tried lifting my gaze to those hardened, red, blistering eyes of Alpha Ricardo.
