Chapter 44 - Chapter 44 : The Skeleton Duke was cut in two with one sword!

"Perfect!" Andy said with a satisfied smile, blowing on the barrel of his gun. "Five shots, five warships down! Even if these ships were nothing compared to the Marines' ships, I'm still allowed to be a little proud, right?"

He'd woken up feeling great that morning, but that old geezer Bones, or Duke as he was known, had ruined his plans for a good time with two beautiful ladies.

That was an unforgivable crime! Andy immediately jumped on his jet ski and sped toward the shore, determined to put an end to Duke once and for all.

All five of Skull Bay's warships had exploded. Besides Duke, who had been thrown onto the shore by the shockwave, the other soldiers who had bailed out early were now desperately trying to swim to land through the massive waves.

Duke himself had only suffered a minor internal injury thanks to his Paramecia-type Bone-Bone Fruit, which let him control skeletons and make his own bones incredibly hard. He had also wrapped his vital areas in Armament Haki just in time. This combination of a powerful Devil Fruit and Haki was what had made him a king in Skull Bay.

But now, all of his old prestige was gone. He struggled to his feet, his tattered clothes revealing his pale bones underneath. His eyes were wide with furious shock as he glared at Andy on the sea.

"Red Hawk Andy, you bastard!" he roared, his voice trembling with hatred.

Andy had already reached the shore. He stood on his jet ski and gave Duke a cold, mocking smile. "Any last words, old man?"

Duke gritted his teeth, then suddenly waved his hand. The ground began to tremble as countless white bones burst from beneath the sand, forming a massive skeleton army.

"Go! Kill him!" he bellowed.

The skeletons let out an ear-piercing shriek and swarmed toward Andy.

Andy just sneered. He raised his sniper rifle, aimed at the lead skeleton, and fired. The bullet, infused with Armament Haki, instantly shattered the skeleton. He didn't stop, pulling the trigger again and again, each shot precisely hitting a skeleton and tearing it to pieces.

However, there were simply too many of them. Andy quickly put away his rifle and pulled a broken blade from his spatial storage, its edge now wrapped in a dark layer of Armament Haki.

"Come on," he yelled, charging into the skeleton army. "Let's see just how hard your bones are!"

His broken blade was a blur in his hand, a black flash of light with every swing that sliced through the skeletons. Andy weaved through the army at an incredible speed, leaving a trail of shattered bone fragments wherever he went.

Duke watched his proud skeleton army crumble like paper, a storm of disbelief raging in his heart. He couldn't hold back any longer. He charged at Andy, his hands instantly transforming into sharp bone blades that whistled through the air as they slashed viciously.

Andy's expression was cold and emotionless. He met the attack head-on, his broken blade clashing fiercely with the bone blades. A harsh metallic scraping sound pierced the night, and sparks flew.

But Duke was a seasoned fighter. He quickly transformed one hand into a claw, gripping Andy's blade tightly, while his other hand condensed into a bone fist covered in dense Armament Haki. He struck with devastating force toward Andy's chest.

Andy had no time to dodge and quickly covered his chest with his own Armament Haki. But the punch was too powerful. He felt a dull thud, and his body was sent flying like a cannonball, crashing hard against the shore's rocks, sending shattered stones everywhere.

Duke Hegu wouldn't miss this opportunity. With both hands covered in Haki, he appeared next to Andy in an instant, his bone fist striking down again with the howl of death.

Andy reacted incredibly fast, rolling out of the way just in time. The bone fist smashed into the reef, creating a loud boom and causing a spiderweb of cracks to spread across the sand as if the whole coast was shaking.

Andy dodged the flying debris, and his broken blade drew a cold arc under the moonlight. Its edge fiercely struck Duke shoulder blade. But when the blade met the bone, sparks flew, and Andy frowned. The old man's Haki was stronger than his, and he couldn't break through the opponent's hard, Haki-covered bones.

"Didn't you eat your breakfast, kid?" Duke sneered, swinging his arm horizontally. His finger bones instantly elongated into five sharp bone blades that shrieked through the air and shot straight at Andy.

Andy quickly raised his blade to block. Amidst the clang of metal, he was pushed back ten meters, his boots plowing two deep furrows into the sand.

As the tide washed over his ankles, a cold glint flashed in Andy's eyes. He suddenly pushed off the ground and charged forward.

His broken blade swept upward, and a swordsman-level slash instantly cut all five bone blades clean off. Duke took half a step back, but the broken bone stubs wriggled and regenerated like venomous snakes, seemingly endless.

"Can your blade be faster than my bones?" Duke laughed wildly, slamming both palms onto the ground. Instantly, dozens of sharp bone spikes shot out from the sand, like claws reaching out from hell, piercing directly at Andy.

Andy spun and leaped, his broken blade a blur of silver light. The spikes flying toward him exploded into dust in the blade's glow. A shard of bone grazed his cheek, drawing a line of blood.

In that very instant, Andy's gaze locked onto a crack in Duke spine—an old injury he'd sustained in a previous battle.

Their figures collided again, blade and bone fist erupting into a series of dazzling sparks in the night. Duke attacks grew more frantic, his bone fists raining down like raindrops, but Andy's parries became increasingly nimble. He was waiting for that fleeting opening.

When Duke threw his 103rd right hook, a sharp glint flashed in Andy's eyes, and he suddenly abandoned his defense for a fierce offense. The broken blade took the full force of the bone fist's blow, its edge chipping with an ear-splitting screech, but Andy used the recoil to thrust himself into his opponent's embrace.

"Got you," Andy's blood-stained lips curved into a wild smile.

Dark Haki suddenly wrapped around the half-broken blade, and Andy's slash was faster than human limits. Duke hurriedly raised his left arm to block, but was horrified to find his Armament Haki shattering like an eggshell. He hadn't realized that in their previous exchanges, every one of Andy's slashes had precisely struck the same spot on his bones.

"One-Sword Style: Bone Breaker!"

A crescent-like flash of blade light passed, and Duke remained frozen in place, maintaining his blocking posture. The sound of the tide suddenly became clear. He looked down and saw that his lower body was still standing on the shore, while his upper body was slowly sliding off. The cut, smooth as a mirror and wrapped in Haki, reflected his incredulous expression.

[Ding!][Bounty points + 130 million points!]

Andy stood on the shore, his broken blade pointed diagonally at the ground, blood dripping from its edge. Under the rising sun, his figure stood unyielding like a god of war, while Duke severed remains, cut in half by Andy's blade, declared the end of this battle.

Andy was stunned. The old man was once a pirate with a bounty! A pirate who had a bounty on his head could actually rule a country, and that country could even become a World Government affiliated nation, protected by the Marines. What a joke!
