Chapter 21
Kael's POV
"What is a party without Ronan? You cannot be serious," I said as I watched him admire himself in the mirror for the tenth time.
He adjusted the sleeves of his well tailored suit, flexing his arm slightly as if he needed to confirm for himself that he looked good. The excitement radiating off him was almost embarrassing.
I shook my head, letting out a quiet breath. "You are acting like this is your first party."
"It is not my fault that I look this good," he replied smugly, running a hand through his hair.
Ronan had always been the life of every gathering. The loudest laugh. The center of attention. It was foolish of me to even question whether he would attend. Of course he would.
The party was technically compulsory for most students. Appearances mattered. Status mattered. However, because of who we were, we had the option to skip it. Our position allowed us certain privileges.
Still, skipping was never really an option. Not tonight.
