Today, classes resumed at the Falthrien Academy. Leylin set his sights on adding more skills in his arsenal.
As a specialized mage, every student in the Falthrien Academy focused in one master, believing that it was too difficult managing two or three specializations of magic.
But Leylin was different. With the aid of his [Mastery of Magic] and [Knowledge Comprehension] managing lots of specializations would not stop him. Leylin kept reading books to learn more spells.
After learning the multiple spells spells namely: [Combustion], [Mirror Image], [Ice Block], [Greater invisibility], [Blink], [Spellsteal], [Cone of Cold], [Frost Nova], [Arcane Blast], [Arcane Missile], [Arcane Barrage], [Evocation], [Touch of the Magi], [Arcane Surge], [Shifting Power], [Remove Curse], [Arcane Intellect] and [Mass Barrier].
Leylin, as usual, sat in a corner, gazing out of the window, contemplating deeply. The few years or months left is the most crucial time now, based from information Rhonin gave.
From what Leylin could recall the death of Medivh signals the start of the second siege of Stormwind Keep and the kingdom's fall would follow. And after that would be the trigger for the Second War to happen. While the human kingdoms are still plotting against each other. Hidden agendas are made after the creation of the Alliance of Lordaeron.
From then onwards the horde would continue seizing control of the lands in the northern part of Eastern Kingdoms. A sudden female voice broke his spiraling thoughts.
"I really didn't expect you to be this studious, reading lots of books." Julia said, her gaze fixed on the student before her, surrounded by books.
"I know it's difficult, but I believe I can master it," Leylin smiled confidently, gazing at the beautiful mage before him.
Julia closed Leylin's book, pursed her lips, and tilted her forehead slightly. "Do you mind if I take up a little of your time? Just ten minutes."
"Of course," Leylin placed the book aside on the desk and motioned for her to take a seat.
Letting a beautiful elf stand while chatting is quite ungraceful.
"I haven't seen you and Vereesa together in a few days," Julia said, her eyes brimming with hope.
Leylin paused for a second before saying, "Thank you for noticing."
At the mention of noticing, Julia's pale blue eyes flickered, and she quickly defended herself, "I wasn't watching you on purpose. I was just curious, just curious."
Curious? Curious about a human. Julia wasn't like those young elves.
Maintaining his usual smile, Leylin waved his hands, making a negative gesture: "Don't be nervous, I didn't say anything, did I? Vereesa has been busy with her ranger training these days, and she will be going on a mission in a few days. I don't want to disturb her."
There seemed to be a sense of loss. This explanation was a little different from what she had imagined. A frustrated look froze on Julia's face for a second, but it disappeared in a flash. The girl's emotions always changed so quickly.
"That's right, the Amani trolls are becoming more and more rampant. Although the Farstriders are small in number, they are the backbone of Silvermoon City's defense force after all. Plus, as an elf from the Windrunner family, they hold a certain responsibility to go to the battlefield. But you are lovers, you should do something for her." Julia said.
Julia was right. Since he came to Quel'Thalas, it seems that he has not done anything for Vereesa except companionship. Now, even companionship is gone.
Leylin's mind raced. He asked, "Miss Julia, if you were my lover now, what would you want?"
Julia didn't dare meet Leylin's gaze. She lowered her eyes and said, "If I were Ranger Vereesa, I would ask my beloved to make enchanted arrows for me. These are a personal item for a ranger. In the past, if a ranger's lover was a mage, either male or female, they would make enchanted arrows for him or her. These items served as a token of their love and a reminder for the journeying ranger."
"Yes, I see, Julia. Thank you for your suggestion. I hope you will make enchanted arrows for your beloved in the future, just like I do. I think it will bring warmth to your loved one." Leylin teased.
Julia shook her head decisively, rejecting Leylin's idea.
"No, I won't make enchanted arrows. I will brew him the purest mana potion," Julia said seriously.
"So, your beloved is a mage?" Leylin's quick thinking immediately gave him the answer.
Julia mustered her courage and looked Leylin in the eye. Her lips parted, then fell again.
After a moment of shyness, she said earnestly, "Yes, my lover is a hardworking and dedicated mage. He's very special, just like you."
Julia stood up, and Leylin followed suit. "Am I special? I feel like, aside from my race, I'm pretty much the same as everyone else."
"I'd like to train with you tomorrow. Do you mind if I become your partner?" Julia said, finally getting to the point.
Leylin knew her mage's abilities well. She was exceptional, and there was no reason for him to refuse.
"Of course, it would be my honor!"
After the afternoon class, Leylin hurried out of the academy. He had more important matters to attend to today.
First, he had to go to the Silvermoon City to purchase a batch of high-quality arrows. Ideally, the arrowheads should be made of pure steel.
Walking briskly through the streets of Silvermoon City, Leylin spent half an hour shopping for the arrows and brought them to the Mage Tower.
The grand magister was reading; he had nothing else to do this afternoon.
When he saw Leylin carrying a batch of arrows upstairs, he asked, "What are you doing with all these arrows? Are you going to process them and sell them to Sunsail Anchorage, where some merchants will send them to the human kingdom to make some extra money?"
"Teacher, that kind of work isn't for me. You, on the other hand, do it all the time, don't you?" Grand Magister Belo'vir had been researching constructs for years, and his experimental funds often fell short of his income. Taking on part-time work to supplement his expenses was inevitable.
"Ahem," the grand magister coughed a few times to cover his embarrassment.
"Then it seems that you are doing this for Vereesa. I also heard that in a few days, the Farstriders will appoint another Windrunner to participate in an official mission." Belo'vir said.
"Yes, I want to make a batch of enchanted arrows for Vereesa. Teacher, you are experienced, please teach me the skills needed to make enchanted arrows." Leylin said anxiously.
There is not much time left for him, and Vereesa may set off the day after tomorrow. Grand Magister Belo'vir put down the book in his hand helplessly and walked to Leylin.
Placing the arrow on the experimental table, Grand Magister Belo'vir began to explain to Leylin the key points and methods of making enchanted arrows.
Leylin listened very seriously, more seriously than he read any magic book or learned any spell. He carefully observed the movements of the teacher's hands, for fear of missing any picture.
Because this batch of arrows will be given to Vereesa Windrunner, to the elf he cherishes the most!
