Waking with the sunlight streaming through her cave Violet slowly stretched herself out like a cat. Once sufficiently stretched she trotted over to the pond to begin her day with a drink.
"Hmm I wonder if I should go back to the big pond today or go somewhere else?" Violet as usual pondered this dilemma for a solid 3 seconds before deciding she wanted more practice with magic so fighting the frog people would be best. "To the pond it is!" And so Violet started her day off by heading towards the giant lake.
Similar to last night she was still interested in playing around with the shadows so continued trying to pull and push them seeing how she can manipulate them and to what extent they can be altered. When around half way to the lake so had a momentous thought, "if I can change the shadows can I not change my colourful mana?" This thought made complete sense to Violet and so she began to try to do that.
She pulled just a small amount of her mana out and tried to get it to manifest in front of her in a ball, this was the easy part as it's basically what her arcane bolt spell does. The tricky part came when she tried to change the shape of this bolt at first it resisted but as Violet slowly applied more pressure that resistance started to slip. Until all at once it vanished, however, unfortunately she had not been expecting that so the pressure she applied caused the bolt to simply explode. This shockwave slammed into the young dragon and sent her sprawling back.
Finding herself half collapsed on the ground she could only groan in pain and annoyance. "Ok pay closer attention to how the pressure is applied." She grumbled to herself.
As Violet was getting back to her feet she heard rustling from behind her and quickly turned around just in time to see a giant emerge from the undergrowth. It stood on 4 legs had brown fur covering its hide, its legs were in the shorter side meaning its body was relatively close to the ground. However, its head is there the danger lay, it had 2 vicious tusks jutting out of its mouth a snubbed nose with a slight upwards tilt and beady black eyes that locked into Violet just as Violets did to its. The creature was nearly 3 times her size and double hers in length.
Violet froze mind racing wondering what she should do in this situation however, this decision was taken out of her hand as the creature charger her.
SQUUEEEEEE
The war cry of the beast reverberated through Violets body and shook her out of her stupor. Reacting as quickly as she should she dove to the side however, the tusk managed to clip her side which sent her flying away and crashing into a nearby tree.

Feeling blood flow freely from her side she struggled to get back to her feet. "That glancing blow took out over half my HP! I canny let that happen again or I'm done for!" The creature at this point halted its charge and was quickly turning around and looked to be readying up another charge.
Thinking quickly she decided that she needed to keep her distance and bait out its charges if she wants any chance of survival. So putting action to plans she quickly starts summoning an arcane bolt and and soon as it's fully formed she lets it loose.
BOOM! SQUEEEE!
The bolt streaked through the air and slammed into the face of the beast causing it to let out another ear splitting screech of pain. Not wasting any time Violet charged up another blast, as she was doing so the beat began another charge a glint of rage in its eyes now at the fact that such a small creature compared to itself could even hurt it.
As the beast got closer Violet waited until the last moment before sending off the arcane bolt and then diving out of the way.
BOOM!
Once more the bolt hit, but this time Violet noticed that whilst it seems to have hurt the beast it lacks any significant damage and she will have to come up with something else if she wants to end this fight any time soon. Quickly dashing away to gain some time to think she thinks back on shaping her mana. Thinking about it when she blew it up in her face that was because when she wanted it to change shape she wasn't exactly picturing any particular shape so the magic had nothing to latch onto. So this time she will just have to know what she wants.
Whilst it's easy to say that actually achieving this whilst dodging a charging beast is quite the challenge. But Violet is all for a challenge, so whilst the beast is recovering itself from the second hit. Violet focuses on shaping her mana into something different, she wants something that can pierce the thick hide of the beast not just explode on contact. So taking inspiration from her own fangs which are great at piercing she forms a longer pointed bolt of pink energy crackling with blue lightning. Its length is actually around the same as violets whole body and it rotates slowly above her head. Upon summoning this new bolt she looks defiantly at the beast as it once more lines itself up and charges at violet. "Stupid beast cant do anything but charge in a straight line, get eaten fatty!" Violet crows internally.
When the beast reaches only a few meters away she releases the bolt which zips forward much faster than any previous bolt has, so fast that even if the stupid beast wanted to try avoid it there was no chance of it doing so.
THUNK… BOOM. CHRASH
The bolt hit the creatures chest and sank right in, after sinking in a muted explosion went off blasting a hole in the chest of the creature. This blast tripped the creature up and it ended up doing a half flip before landing in its back whilst letting out a pitiful series of whimpers. Seeing the vulnerable position the beast is now in Violet charged her pounce and when it stopped sliding she bolted forward. Landing on its belly and raking her claws down and snaking her head up its body and sinking her fangs down into its now exposed neck.
With a final jerk of her head Violet let out a cry of victory as the beast finally stopped resisting and collapsed to its death.

Violet blinked a few times at that barrage of notifications that came through but was soon feeling very happy with herself after reading them all. "Hehehe I'm the best!" As she was thinking this she was also digging into the wild boar and all she could think about at that particular moment was how delicious this boar was to eat!!
After eating her fill and beginning to feel alight better she decided that she should call the hunt off early and head back to the cave, looking longingly at the boar she bit down on a leg and started to drag it back with her.
Nearly 2 hours later, and after having a couple extra snack breaks Violet had managed to drag the remnants of the boar corpse back into her cave. Sighing she staggered over to the pond to drink her fill and then dropped onto the floor to begin looking at her evolution options.

"Ohh 4 options! But why are 3 of them still Infant Dragons? That seems odd but I guess they must be rare sub-species or something? Whereas the Young Dragon is just the generic next step." Violet did have a very basic grasp on the situation granted to her by the system itself but granted her low level and intelligence score she could only glean some of the most basic facts about her options.
"Hmm well I dislike the idea of being generic so that's the Young Dragon option out, Dragon of Mana just sounds stupid which rules that one out! Now with the last 2 it's between just shadow or special shadows! Ha is it even a question!?"
With her flawless logic Violet quickly and easily made her decision and chose Young Dragon!

As the last message flashed before her eyes she snuggled into herself and felt her eyes growing heavy. Before long she felt herself drifting off to sleep.
After Violet fell asleep she failed to notice one more system screen that popped up to all beasts that had been chosen for the Championship.
