Chapter 36 - The False Bond

Kravin's POv

We returned to the castle, and the pain of her absence was overwhelming; I could sense that my brothers were feeling it just as deeply. 

They held themselves responsible, and after that moment, they couldn't meet my gaze. 

Diana, Nerina's mother, was utterly devastated. The poor woman wept uncontrollably, pleading with us to take action, as Nerina was all she had left. 

"We have been avoiding conflict with Devryck, and we cannot afford to engage now; you all understand the risks involved," my mother snapped at us. 

"Devryck declared war the moment he took our mate," Vlad suddenly interjected, and I scoffed at the thought. They wanted her now, fully aware of how poorly they had treated her and the hurtful things they had said to her. 

Devryck was my older brother, and we had not seen eye to eye for years, because he was consumed by darkness, far darker than any of us, and twisted by blood magic, which was strictly forbidden for our kind.
