Chapter 346 - Chapter 346: Trust Frieren

Chapter 346: Trust Frieren

This time, even Serie temporarily ignored her annoyance with Frieren, her gaze becoming serious, because she clearly sensed the pure magic power contained in that attack.

"Olivia, she—" she exclaimed, "has become much stronger."

In Serie's perception, the level of magical concentration displayed in Olivia's attack had reached an extremely high level.

She felt that Olivia's strength was perhaps only slightly inferior to hers, but across the entire continent, apart from Olivia and herself, who were both exceptional, it was probably difficult to find a worthy opponent.

It was important to understand that when they fought side by side a thousand years ago, Olivia, though powerful, had only just stepped onto the threshold of legend and was still some distance from becoming a true legend.

In fact, even Serie herself didn't think she could be called a legend back then.

If Olivia hadn't used a large amount of faith power to forcibly pull the goddess's true form down from outside the world and placed layers of shackles on her, it was likely that no one could have withstood her attack.

But now, thanks to a thousand years of accumulated experience, and with Olivia's help, the Elf's strength had improved dramatically.

Olivia was simply staying in that heavenly kingdom, so how did her strength increase so quickly?

Did Kurtz give her some unknown magic back then?

Serie guessed so.

After all, in a sense, Olivia was the only member of the Skywing Clan remaining, and even the goddess of life herself hadn't said anything about it.

As if she could read minds, Olivia saw through the fleeting suspicion in Serie's eyes and took the initiative to explain, "Don't make wild guesses. I have no secret magic."

She continued to explain, "The Skywing Clan is a race created by the gods. Their growth does not entirely depend on later accumulation. The awakening and enhancement of their own bloodline can also increase their strength."

Before leaving this world, the goddess of life had left Olivia with the remaining portion of her power as a final gift.

This gift from the gods was the fundamental reason for her current level of strength.

Serie nodded upon hearing this. "I see."

On the other hand, as Olivia made her move, Evan and the others reacted immediately.

No wonder Frieren was so confident; it turned out someone had been protecting them all along.

Having figured this out, the crowd no longer hesitated and, with a roar, rushed toward the Earl.

"Stop them right now!" The count's expression changed drastically as he ordered his guards to try to stop Evan and the others who were rushing toward him.

However, as soon as the guards moved, several attacks came down from the sky, forcing them to defend desperately.

Clearly, their magician was in the air.

The guards exchanged glances, and some of the powerful mages who possessed flight magic immediately took to the air, ready to take down the enemy in mid-air.

However, judging by the screams that followed, it seemed they were the ones captured.

So the remaining powerful guards had no choice but to bite the bullet and go up to the roof to try and hold off the mysterious mage in the air.

With these powerful figures gone, Evan and his companions felt much less pressure and were rapidly closing the gap with the Earl.

Outside the Earl's mansion, hordes of soldiers had already surrounded the entire estate, but no one dared to enter.

After all, their commander had already been ordered to turn a blind eye to the Magic Association's actions, as long as the innocent were not implicated.

Lights were also lit up in the surrounding mansions, and many people were seen closely watching the situation, creating a tense atmosphere.

"It seems there shouldn't be any problems," Olivia said softly. "I reckon Leggett will really come knocking on our door tomorrow."

Serie snorted, her anger not completely subsided, but her attention had shifted more from Frieren's foolish actions to the overall course of events. "Hmph, if he can't even quell this little storm, then his throne is far too precarious."

Although she was sharp-tongued, she had quietly increased the range of her detection magic, capturing every subtle energy fluctuation and personnel movement throughout the capital.

Serie was assessing whether further measures were needed to prevent the situation from spiraling completely out of control.

After all, the goal was to purge the nobility, but if this led to large-scale unrest in the capital and harmed countless civilians, then it would defeat the original purpose.

"However," Serie changed the subject, mentioning Frieren again, her tone filled with undisguised disdain, "although she was hopelessly stupid, it's undeniable that her move was quite skillful."

She recalled the lightning that tore through the night sky.

Pure and unadorned, it maximized destructive power.

She liked this style very much. For a qualified mage, magic shouldn't have too many fancy things; all you need to do is think about how to defeat and kill the opponent.

In today's battles, increasing the power of magic to break through the opponent's magic shield in one strike was undoubtedly the best way to fight.

After all, modern mages relied heavily on magical shields in combat.

"But it was still too reckless." Serie couldn't help but speak again. "I remember when she met Flamme; it was the same. She fought that demon general to the death all by herself. If Flamme hadn't arrived in time, she probably would have died at his hands long ago."

Listening to Serie's complaints, Olivia didn't mention Frieren, but instead asked a seemingly unrelated question. "Serie, what do you think is most important for a magician?"

Serie raised an eyebrow and answered without hesitation, "Power, of course! Absolute power enough to meet any challenge!"

This was her deeply ingrained belief.

"Then, what is the path to acquiring power?" Olivia continued to guide.

"Talent and hard work, of course," Serie replied, things she had personally experienced and firmly believed in.

"So, what do you think Frieren is lacking?"

Serie was speechless for a moment.

Talent? There was no doubt about Frieren's magical talent.

Hard work? That child was indeed very diligent in her cultivation, and her love for magic was no less than anyone else's; even she couldn't find fault with her.

She just...just felt that Frieren's approach was too unreliable and that she should be more careful.

"Frieren knew that they had Olivia protecting them, so in her view, it was worth it to break down obstacles and achieve the goal quickly in the most direct way, even if it caused a commotion, as long as the final result was controllable."

Olivia paused. "But if the situation were different, if I weren't there, Frieren would naturally choose a different way to fight. Trust Frieren! And trust Flamme's teachings!"

Serie was silent for a moment, then reluctantly nodded.

She had to admit that Olivia had come to know Flamme and Frieren better than she did. Perhaps she needs to spend some more time with her apprentice.
