Chapter 6 - The Bullfight Begins

By the time they arrived at the court, a crowd had already gathered.

Some were there to witness the event, having heard about it, while others were Flesh's supporters, whom he'd specifically invited.

Seeing the large crowd, Gwen and the others couldn't help but look at Meng Ran.

Meng Ran simply observed them, listening to their shouts with a calm and composed expression.

Seeing his composure, Gwen and the others were also influenced by his demeanor, and began to encourage him.

"Meng, go for it! I believe you can beat Flesh," Gwen encouraged Meng Ran earnestly.

Meng Ran chuckled, "I wasn't very confident before, but now, with your encouragement, I feel full of power!"

With that, he gave a thumbs up, looking serious and deeply touched.

Gwen covered her mouth and giggled, "Then you have to work hard. If you lose, you can't say I didn't cheer you on enough."

Meng Ran smiled at Gwen's words; friendly banter was a good start to a relationship.

Suddenly, an idea sparked in his mind. He cleared his throat and walked over to Gwen.

Gwen turned to look at him as Meng Ran approached.

Looking into Gwen's beautiful big eyes, Meng Ran smiled, "How about we play a game?"

Gwen perked up at his words, asking curiously, "What game?"

Meng Ran, looking at the curious beauty, said, "Let's bet on how many shots Flesh will make. We'll be playing ten shots; how many do you think he'll score?"

Gwen raised a delicate eyebrow and asked, "Why not bet on the outcome? Usually, these games are about guessing who wins."

Meng Ran confidently replied to Gwen's question, "There's no need to guess the outcome of the game. I will win, that's a given."

"So, you just need to guess how many shots he'll make. How about we bet on dinner?"

Gwen looked at Meng Ran's confidence and was a bit surprised. "So sure of yourself? I feel like I'm getting a free dinner."

"In that case, I'll guess he makes three shots," Gwen said after thinking for a moment.

She figured that even if Meng Ran was amazing, he couldn't possibly prevent Flesh from scoring any points. Betting on three shots was already a gamble.

"You're betting on three? Thanks for the vote of confidence."

"But I'm even more confident in myself. I bet he won't make a single shot," Meng Ran said with a laugh after hearing Gwen's decision.

Gwen was taken aback by this. After all, Flesh was a key player on the school team. Even if Meng Ran could win, it was unlikely that he could prevent Flesh from scoring any points at all.

"You're underestimating Flesh, Meng," Gwen said, shaking her head. "I can already feel dinner calling to me."

She believed Meng Ran could win, but ten to zero was a bit much.

Flesh, who was warming up, saw Meng Ran talking to Gwen on the sidelines.

He tossed the ball to one of his lackeys and walked over to Meng Ran.

"Oh ho! The laughable Yellow-skinned Monkey actually showed up. I thought you'd be scared and run home to your mommy."

Flesh walked up to Meng Ran and taunted him with exaggerated gestures and foul language.

Meng Ran looked at him coldly, saying nothing. Seeing this, Flesh roared again, "You wimp! What's wrong? Scared to even speak?"

Meng Ran looked at Flesh without expression, then suddenly burst out laughing.

Everyone around was stunned, Gwen and the others were also stunned, and Flesh was even questioning life itself.

Everyone didn't know what was wrong with Meng Ran, why he suddenly started laughing.

"Sorry, sorry, I just suddenly thought of something."

Meng Ran held back his laughter and said, "I read an article before that said when a person yells and shouts, their butthole will also open and close with their shouts."

"I couldn't control my laughter when I thought of that, I'm really sorry."

After speaking, Meng Ran looked at Flesh again, whose face was now so dark it was almost getting shot by the police.

"Sorry, Mr. Lightning, I didn't mean to interrupt your performance. Actually, I'm usually very polite, I won't laugh no matter how funny it is, unless I really can't help it."

Meng Ran looked at Flesh's black face with a sincere expression.

Everyone around heard Meng Ran's words, then thought about Flesh's earlier shouting.

"Pfft~" Someone couldn't suppress their laughter and covered their mouth. Then the entire venue erupted in continuous laughter.

Gwen, standing next to Meng Ran, was also bent over with laughter. She hadn't expected Meng Ran to have such a sharp tongue.

Flesh listened to the surrounding laughter, suppressing his anger, and said in a low voice to Meng Ran, "I hope your ball skills are as good as your mouth."

Meng Ran heard this and also laughed, "I hope your ball skills aren't as foul-smelling as your mouth."

After the harsh words were exchanged, it was time to start the one-on-one.

Flesh would attack first, with Meng Ran defending.

Flesh held the ball, dribbling with both hands while constantly moving his feet.

Meng Ran spread his arms wide, defending tightly.

Flesh dribbled the ball, attempting to drive towards the basket.

At this moment, Meng Ran seemed to have fallen behind Flesh's rhythm, and a defensive opening appeared.

Flesh seized the opportunity and changed direction, getting past him.

After getting past Meng Ran, he jumped with the ball, wanting to vent his anger with a powerful dunk. He was already shouting, and the next step was to slam the basketball into the hoop.

Flesh didn't see the smile playing on Meng Ran's face, nor did he feel the shadow approaching from behind.

Clap! A crisp sound of the ball being blocked echoed through the arena.

Flesh's fantasy was shattered by Meng Ran's large hand.

They both landed. Meng Ran looked at Flesh and said with a smile, "That was a good shout just now. Keep it up later."

"Damn it!" Flesh cursed inwardly. This damn Chinese kid could jump so high! Flesh knew clearly that if he was blocked, Meng Ran's jumping ability and strength were definitely not inferior to his own, and might even be superior.

Flesh was now taking things seriously, secretly thinking of a plan: His speed wasn't very fast just now, otherwise he wouldn't have been crossed over by me. I should be able to defeat him with speed.

Flesh's attack had failed; now it was Meng Ran's turn to attack.

Meng Ran held the ball, dribbling with both hands.

While dribbling, he said to Flesh, "That was your first attack, and also your last. You don't have any more chances, poor Flesh."

Meng Ran even used a tone like he was coaxing a baby for the last sentence, his mockery blatant.

Hearing Meng Ran's trash talk, Flesh was angry but couldn't refute.

He was afraid that if he got distracted, he would be seized upon and crossed over.

The more trash talk, the more it proved Meng Ran was slow. Otherwise, he wouldn't be talking so much.

After Meng Ran finished speaking, he suddenly lunged forward and to the left. Flesh immediately followed.

But then, he quickly retreated. Then, with a death cross-over, Flesh was toyed with like a monkey. Following the movements of the ball, Flesh was directly knocked to the ground.

Flesh, knocked down, thought that Meng Ran was going to drive to the basket. Not only him, but everyone present thought Meng Ran was going to drive for a layup.

But that wasn't the case.

After Meng Ran had faked out Flesh, he didn't go forward, but instead retreated to the center court, where there was a large Midtown High School LOGO.

"God, what is he doing?"

"He's not going to shoot a Logo Three-Pointer, is he?"

"Does he think he's an NBA superstar or something? Ridiculous!"

The people watching from the sidelines started chattering amongst themselves, some even began to mock Meng Ran, calling him laughable and overestimating his abilities.

Flesh also stood up, but he didn't approach. He just stood there, waiting for Meng Ran to embarrass himself. He didn't believe Meng Ran would make the shot either.

Meng Ran stood at the LOGO, without the slightest hesitation, and jumped to shoot.

His form didn't change at all because of the long distance, and this amount of power wasn't difficult for him at all.

The basketball drew a beautiful arc in the air, flying towards the hoop.
