Chapter 18 - Ghost Spider

A few days had passed since Judgment and Ul, and it was Thursday again.

Perhaps because the Crocodile Gang had been too active, the news in the papers gradually shifted its focus elsewhere, and everything became calm again.

Peter finally came to his senses after Meng Ran gave him a good talking-to that night. The next day, he drove Meng Ran's black car and had a great day with Mary Jane.

As a good brother, Meng Ran, of course, thought things through for Peter. He chose a few good date spots for Peter based on his own experiences.

At the same time, Meng Ran also instructed Peter not to take Mary Jane to places based on his own preferences, like the science museum.

Emptying his mind, he temporarily sealed off the part of himself that was a nerd and a science geek.

Peter didn't disappoint Meng Ran, and overall, the date went very smoothly. Their relationship also progressed quite a bit.

If Peter could have swapped the dinosaur egg fossil toy he gave Mary Jane for something else, the date would have been even more perfect.

At this rate, by the end of this semester, around Christmas, the two brothers could escape their single lives and step towards a new life. Thinking about it made him a little excited, hehe.

Meng Ran ate dinner, chatted with his parents for a while, and then returned to his room to chat with Peter and flirt with Gwen.

After a while, the night deepened. Meng Ran flipped the sign on his door, which read "Sleeping." He bought it when he was dating Gwen. They each had one.

Then he locked the door from the inside. Meng Ran had a habit of doing this, and Zhao Li and Meng Huo knew this, so there was no need for them to disturb Meng Ran's sleep at night.

Opening the window, Meng Ran, already wearing his Battle Suit, ran in the night.

It was another day of clocking in for work. The work of cracking down on organized crime in New York City still needed to continue.

Although Bill and Ul's cases were precedents, there would always be people who courted death.

So Meng Ran still had to work hard.

Meng Ran maintained an extremely fast pace as he traversed between the buildings, while Little White was also assisting in scanning the streets.

Looking for any trouble-making petty thieves.

"Oh ho, someone dares to rob with a gun, tsk tsk tsk, this isn't just a petty thief."

Meng Ran chatted with Little White while quickly rushing towards the person.

Some might find it strange that someone would chat with an AI, but it does indeed happen, for example, Tony Stark, who might still be lying in bed with a beauty right now.

To be honest, having Little White made Meng Ran's night shifts much more enjoyable, which might just be the importance of a straight man.

"Give me your money! Damn old hag!" A white man with long, dirty hair was pointing a gun at the woman in front of him. "If you don't give me your money, I'll shoot you."

The woman was originally searching through her wallet, thinking how unlucky she was, when she heard the man in front of her actually call her an old hag.

The woman was instantly filled with rage, and slammed her handbag at the robber's head. "Who are you calling an old hag? I'm only forty years old, much younger than your mother. You bastard."

The robber hadn't expected the timid woman to suddenly fight back. He was momentarily stunned, and the handbag slammed into his face.

The robber immediately felt a sharp pain in his nose, followed by something flowing out. He touched his nose and realized it was blood.

The woman, having vented her anger with a few blows, came to her senses. Seeing the dazed robber touching his nose, she felt a sense of foreboding and turned to run.

The robber also recovered, and seeing the woman trying to escape, his anger flared up. He snatched the woman's bag.

Then, he pointed the gun at the woman, who had been pulled down to the ground. "You had a chance to live, but now you don't want to." He raised his arm to wipe away the blood from his nose.

The robber, holding the gun, was about to pull the trigger when he was suddenly kicked to the ground.

Jumping down from the rooftop, Meng Ran stood between the knocked-down man and the woman who was now slumped on the ground.

"Mr. Robber, this is not right. How can you be so disrespectful of a lady's age?"

"A woman's age is a mystery. Remember this, as it's the last lesson you'll learn."

Meng Ran ignored the robber, who was curled up on the ground, unable to stand after being kicked. Instead, he offered a hand to the woman and helped her up.

Meng Ran said, "Ma'am, the problem is solved. Go home now. It's best not to be out late at night."

Hearing Meng Ran's husky voice, the woman wasn't afraid. Instead, she patted Meng Ran on the shoulder and said, "You're the Evil Ghost, aren't you? I saw the news the other day. Good job!"

"Those criminals deserved it! Don't listen to what those people online are saying; they don't understand!"

The woman praised Meng Ran enthusiastically before turning to go home.

Meng Ran scratched his head. He thought the aunt was going to say something else. He was a little embarrassed by her words, even though they were true.

It seems the aunt has a story to tell, Meng Ran thought.

Meng Ran turned around and looked at the robber still huddled against the wall. He grinned, sticking out his tongue.

The robber, leaning against the wall, had just come to his senses. He looked up and saw Meng Ran's face, and immediately screamed in terror, scrambling backward.

Meng Ran watched the robber, who looked like he wanted to burrow a hole in the wall, and said coldly, "Well, next up is sending you on your way."

After saying that, he didn't care about the robber's desperate pleas and prepared to put his hand on his head and crush it. Meng Ran never minded using the most brutal methods to send criminals on their way.

"Swoosh!" A white webbing shot out from the side and wrapped around Meng Ran's wrist.

Then, the webbing tightened suddenly, pulling Meng Ran's hand to the side, away from the robber's head.

"Hey! I think it's better to take him to the police station. What do you say, Mr. Evil Ghost?"

A pleasant female voice came from the dark alley.

Meng Ran turned his head and saw a pair of white eyes gleaming in the darkness. Unlike his own, these eyes weren't narrow and sinister; instead, they were beautiful and full of aesthetic appeal.

Then, a slender figure jumped down from the wall and emerged from the shadows.

She was clad in a black and white bodysuit that perfectly accentuated her curves. She also wore a hood, but it was white.

The bodysuit was roughly divided into white and black from the waist down, with the upper body white and the lower body black. Pink lines were interspersed throughout, such as on the inside of the hood and around the eye sockets.

Unlike Meng Ran's terrifying appearance, this woman in the bodysuit looked both heroic and beautiful. Her curvaceous figure was further emphasized by the tight-fitting suit.

Meng Ran closed his gaping mouth, returning to his normal handsome look. He used his left hand as a blade to cut the white webbing wrapped around his right hand.

Looking at the woman who had emerged, Meng Ran felt that she looked familiar, but he couldn't quite place who she was.

After all, he had lived in this world for nearly twenty years, and his memories from his past life were somewhat hazy.

Meng Ran said coldly, "Although I usually maintain proper courtesy towards ladies, that doesn't mean you have the right to interfere with my Judgment."

Ghost Spider scratched her head and said, "Sorry, Evil Ghost, I'm not trying to interfere with you. I just thought maybe it would be better that way."

"If you're in a hurry, I can do it for you. I'll tie him up and throw him at the police station."

Meng Ran narrowed his eyes, looking at the woman in front of him who seemed at a loss. He was a bit speechless.

It looked like a rookie, nervous in front of a senior, but still wanting to give her opinion.

This woman is not simple, Meng Ran thought.

Meng Ran hadn't felt anyone nearby just now, which was a serious problem. With Meng Ran's current perception and Little White's detection, not many people could sneak up on him unnoticed.

Meng Ran couldn't figure out when this woman had appeared. Her sudden voice had startled him. And his wide-open mouth had probably also been seen. Speechless.

Meng Ran said, "Although your suggestion is very good, and your attitude is sincere."

"But I decline."

"Just a reminder, if you don't want nightmares tonight, you'd better leave now."

After saying this, Meng Ran ignored her and continued his Judgment.

As soon as Meng Ran reached out his hand, another strand of Webbing shot out and wrapped around his arm.

"Sorry, Mr. Evil Ghost, but I still want to try and persuade you."

Ghost Spider tugged at the Webbing, pulling on Meng Ran's arm.

"Also, let me introduce myself. I'm Ghost Spider. You can also call me Ghost, Mr. Evil Ghost."
