Chapter 41 - Professional Team

Peter stared at Meng Ran, who was dressed as the Evil Ghost, and listened to his self-introduction, feeling a bit dumbfounded.

Seeing Peter's dazed expression, Meng Ran laughed, "What's wrong, Peter? Don't you recognize me?"

Peter also recovered from his shock, removing his own mask and saying, somewhat bewildered, "Meng, you're the Evil Ghost? I, I always thought the Evil Ghost was a cold middle-aged man."

Meng Ran replied, "What gave you that impression? The Evil Ghost has always been me."

"Do you want me to sign something for you?" Meng Ran teased.

Peter suddenly felt a little embarrassed, scratching his head and not knowing what to say.

Suddenly, Peter seemed to remember something, looking up and saying, "That's why the Evil Ghost suddenly appeared there yesterday."

Then he solemnly said to Meng Ran, "Thank you, Meng, thank you for saving Uncle Ben."

After saying that, he hugged Meng Ran tightly.

Meng Ran felt Peter's agitated emotions, and he also held Peter tightly, patting his back to comfort him.

"It's okay, Uncle Ben is fine now," Meng Ran comforted Peter.

Peter choked up and said, "I was really scared, Meng, I can't imagine what I would do if I lost Uncle Ben."

Meng Ran also comforted him. He knew how complicated Peter's feelings were. He was both scared and worried, both relieved and regretful, both angry and confused.

After a while, Peter finally calmed down and asked, "So, Meng Ran, how did you know Uncle Ben was in trouble? Were you just there?"

Meng Ran explained, "Actually, I felt your abnormality a few days ago at school, so I've been paying attention to your condition since then, thinking about when to talk to you."

"It just so happened that things went down like that. Luckily, I arrived in time, and nothing bad happened. Otherwise, I would have regretted it for the rest of my life."

Peter nodded, then scratched his head awkwardly, realizing that Meng Ran already knew.

Peter had been planning to debut as Spider-Man first, then earn Meng Ran's admiration. After that, he would very discreetly reveal his true identity to Meng Ran, hoping to enjoy his surprised expression.

He hadn't expected that Meng Ran already knew, and that he was actually the Evil Ghost. Instead of getting Meng Ran's surprise, he was the one who ended up being in awe. He had even used the Evil Ghost as his computer wallpaper before.

Thinking about it now, the Evil Ghost was actually his good friend, which was a bit awkward.

No wonder Meng Ran had asked him about his opinion of the Evil Ghost before. Thinking about it, Peter also understood a bit. It seemed Meng Ran had also been conflicted like him.

After saying that, Meng Ran continued to ask, "I still don't know how you became like this."

Peter heard this and gathered his thoughts, preparing to explain to Meng Ran.

Before he could say anything, Meng Ran spoke first, "Wait a moment, there's someone else who wants to see you, also a friend of ours."

Peter was taken aback. "Another friend? Harry? Did you tell him?"

Meng Ran didn't answer, but instead watched the approaching figure in the distance.

Soon, the figure landed in front of them.

Wearing a black and white combat suit with a white hood, and possessing a shapely figure, it was Ghost Spider, Gwen.

Peter looked at Ghost Spider and murmured, "Ghost Spider? Friend? Could it be...?"

At this moment, Ghost Spider also made a mental connection and revealed her beautiful face.

Peter widened his eyes, surprised. "Gwen? You're Ghost Spider?"

Then he said, "As long as it's not Mary Jane."

As soon as Peter finished speaking, a clear voice rang out, "Hey, Peter, what are you talking about? What do you mean, as long as it's not me?"

"Mary Jane!" Peter immediately looked around, his gaze finally landing on Gwen's headphones.

Gwen then tossed Peter a pair of headphones.

Peter took the headphones and put them on, and sure enough, Mary Jane's voice came from the headphones.

"Hello! Peter, tell me, what do you mean, as long as it's not me?" Mary Jane asked again.

Peter was embarrassed and could only stammer as he explained to Mary Jane.

Seeing that everyone was present, Meng Ran spoke, "Alright, Peter, now that everyone's here, you can tell us your story."

Peter finally managed to appease Mary Jane. He scratched his head, replaying his thoughts from earlier before continuing his explanation.

"That's basically what happened," Peter finished, recounting his story.

Meng Ran pondered, "So, Peter, you were bitten by a spider that fell from the sky at the science museum, and that's what caused the mutation."

Then, Meng Ran turned to Gwen, "I remember Gwen, you were out with your family, and then when you got home that night, you realized you'd been bitten, and then you mutated."

"The day Gwen mutated, she also went to the science museum."

"So, the reason both of you mutated was because of spiders at the science museum."

Peter and Gwen fell silent, lost in thought.

Meng Ran continued, "But I think the spiders that bit the two of you were probably different. After all, your abilities are somewhat different. Gwen has many special skills compared to Peter, while Peter's strength and physical attributes are stronger than Gwen's."

Parker thought for a moment, then said, "I remember the science museum had mutated spiders from the Osborn Group. The one that bit me was probably one of those."

"But according to what you said, the ones that bit us were different. So, we don't know what kind bit Gwen."

Meng Ran and Gwen also looked troubled.

Gwen couldn't figure it out, so she shook her head and said, "Forget it, let's not think about it anymore. It's already happened, so let's not dwell on it."

"What we need to do now is use our powerful abilities to do what we can."

Meng Ran nodded in agreement. "That's right, Peter, don't be confused. No matter what methods you use, what you pursue, or what attitude you have towards criminals, it all depends on your own heart."

"You need to know that no matter what choices you make, we'll always be by your side. We're all pursuing justice, just in different ways."

"I was also confused like you once, but I later found that as long as you are firm in your beliefs, understand your truest thoughts, and follow your own heart, it's enough."

Peter heard these words and also resolved his own inner conflict.

His previous confusion stemmed from not knowing how to choose his path. Or rather, he didn't know what the right thing to do was.

Should he be like the Evil Ghost, unleashing a storm of punishment on criminals, directly enacting justice? Or should he stick to his own beliefs, subdue these people, and then hand them over to the police?

Now Peter knew he wasn't alone. His good friends were all upholding justice in their own ways. They were all doing this with their most genuine attitudes.

Peter was no longer confused because he had figured out what he should hold onto. He would fight for justice alongside his friends.

Peter solidified his belief and said in a low voice, "I think I understand. I will work with everyone and use my own strength to fight for the justice in my heart."

Meng Ran and Gwen exchanged a glance. They were also happy that Peter could understand their thoughts.

From then on, the masked hero group in New York City began to take shape, and a Professional Team dedicated to fighting crime was established.

Normally, the four of them operated separately. Meng Ran also gave each of them a communicator for easier contact, and they would act together in emergencies.

Mary Jane was mainly responsible for intelligence gathering and logistics. They also found a secret base and established facilities for their team, including computers, various experimental equipment, and tools for daily training.

Meng Ran used the money he earned from his anti-crime activities to fund the base. He still had a lot of money left over after making some donations, and now it could be put to good use.

The entire team was divided into two groups: a data analysis and logistical support group consisting of Little White and Mary Jane, and an external combat group comprising Gwen, Peter, and Meng Ran.

Besides participating in combat, Meng Ran also served as a coach for various skills like combat and firearms, as well as being the major financial backer.

After they had the secret base, everyone often gathered there, and it became the place where they felt the most sense of belonging, besides their homes.
