"Huh?"
Jenny's face instantly turned red, filled with embarrassment—she had almost run straight into him.
"Tao? Why are you here!"
When she saw who it was, she exclaimed in surprise.
"Why can't it be me? Get in the car."
Tao Wen smiled at her as he spoke.
"Oh, okay!"
Jenny's awkwardness vanished in an instant, her eyes blooming with a bright, radiant gleam. The sight before her was somewhat unexpected—her heart couldn't help but fill with gratitude toward Tao Wen. He had made her wish come true!
The car drove smoothly, yet the atmosphere inside became unusually quiet.
Jenny's gaze roamed all over the interior, unable to look away. It was like Grandma Liu entering the Grand View Garden—full of awe and joy.
Soon, they arrived at Oscorp Group.
Oscorp was as lively as ever, showing no sign of decline after the Lizard incident. The place bustled with activity, the crowds endless.
"We're here to interview Dr. Connors."
After entering the lobby, Jenny stated their purpose. The security guard contacted Connors and then allowed them through.
The two took the elevator up as if they knew the way well.
"Ah, it's been a while! How have you both been?"
As soon as the elevator doors opened, Dr. Connors greeted them with a bright smile, his attitude warm and full of energy.
Tao Wen's eyes swept toward Connors' arm—it had grown back. That sight confirmed what he had already suspected: the Lizard was indeed Dr. Connors himself.
Now he could make his move.
"Such incredible regeneration," Tao Wen thought.
During their previous battle, he had clearly injured the Lizard severely, yet now Connors stood before him completely healed. It was shocking.
This power came from the reptilian formula—but its side effects were enormous.
If Tao Wen could gain such a regenerative ability himself, he would become even more formidable. Of course, it would depend on accumulating enough fragments—whether it was for the Vibranium Armor or the Berserker System, either could grant that kind of monstrous recovery.
"Dr. Connors, your arm… it's grown back!"
Jenny immediately noticed the restored limb and cried out in astonishment.
Regenerating a limb had always been just a theoretical concept.
"This is the result of my latest research," Dr. Connors said with a beaming smile. "But it's still in clinical stages and not yet ready for public use."
This discovery was a major breakthrough in his field. Yet deep down, he was thinking ahead—once he surpassed Iron Man in power, he would spread the serum across the city, turning everyone into his followers, and rule over the entire planet!
He would be the supreme ruler. With a mere gesture, countless beautiful women like Jenny would come flocking to him. He would live like a true emperor!
"That's truly amazing! Don't worry—I'll only mention it briefly in the piece," Jenny said, her tone professional.
As a veteran reporter, she knew exactly which boundaries not to cross. Her response made Connors very satisfied.
"Then let's begin," Dr. Connors said.
His first goal was to spread word of his research through the media. Once the news spread, volunteers would come pouring in—and they would become his first batch of loyal subjects.
"All right," Jenny replied, following him into the conference room to begin the exclusive interview.
The interview began, question after question, each one answered in detail. After about an hour, the session concluded.
"Thank you so much, Doctor. I'm sure your theory will be all over the headlines tomorrow," Jenny said with a bright smile.
Her excitement surged. She was certain that once this story broke, it would send shockwaves through the medical world—and her own career would skyrocket. She could hardly wait to rush home and start writing the explosive news article.
"Jenny, I have something else to take care of. I'll have Harlen drive you back."
As they left the building, Tao Wen spoke to her.
"Thank you so much, Tao!" Jenny said happily. "Once this is over, dinner's on me!"
"Of course," Tao Wen replied with a smile, waving goodbye as she left.
After she was gone, Tao Wen crossed the street and entered a café opposite Oscorp.
He ordered a regular coffee and a few pastries, then sat down.
Time passed slowly.
By the time he had refilled his cup for the tenth time, the workday at Oscorp had just ended.
He paid the bill and stepped outside.
Just as he reached the main gate, he saw Dr. Connors stride out of the building.
"Follow him," Tao Wen told a taxi driver after getting in.
"Got it," the driver replied calmly. Clearly an experienced man, he asked no questions and simply tailed Connors' car.
Connors wasn't a skilled driver—his car moved slowly and unsteadily. Eventually, he stopped in a deserted area and parked.
"How interesting… he's noticed me. Becoming the Lizard really has sharpened his senses," Tao Wen murmured.
After handing the driver a generous payment, Tao Wen got out, and the taxi quickly drove off.
When he looked toward Connors' car, the doctor was already standing outside, staring at him coldly.
"What do you want? Trying to take my research for yourself?" Connors asked, his eyes blazing with fury. He was seething—believing Tao Wen had come to steal his achievements.
He wanted nothing more than to tear this man apart.
But he restrained himself—this wasn't the best place for a fight.
"You're wrong," Tao Wen said, his voice calm yet mocking. "I'm not after your research. It's far too crude for me. Compared to true regenerative technology, your work is barely elementary."
A smirk curved his lips. "I followed you here because of you—because you can turn into a giant lizard."
"What are you talking about?!"
Connors' expression darkened instantly. He hadn't expected anyone to know his secret. This man couldn't be allowed to live.
"Have you forgotten?" Tao Wen's tone was almost playful. "When you transformed into that big lizard, I beat you down hard."
He stepped closer, lightly tapping Connors on the chest as if to jog his memory.
"What?!"
Connors' eyes widened in disbelief.
When he became the Lizard, much of his memory blurred—and even after changing back, he only retained fragments. That was one of the early flaws of his transformation formula.
But Tao Wen's words triggered a flood of fragmented images in his mind—Tao Wen's figure, the crushing defeat.
His face turned pale.
If that was true, then this man was the dreaded Ironclad Warrior—the one he had no chance of defeating.
There was only one thing left to do: run.
"Run!"
Without another thought, Connors turned and bolted toward his car, hoping to flee as fast as possible.
"I'm afraid you won't be running anywhere."
Just as he turned, Tao Wen grabbed him by the collar and effortlessly lifted him off the ground—like picking up a chick.
"All right," Tao Wen said coldly, holding him high in the air, "time for a simple choice."
"Submit—or die."
