Chapter 94 - Green Goblin (4/4)

"Damn it!"

Tao Wen frowned deeply. He didn't know exactly what had happened, but he could easily guess — that little spider must have gotten curious again and picked a fight with some thugs.

And now, either he'd been overwhelmed or hadn't yet adapted to his powers, and ended up getting beaten to the ground.

"Let's go."

Tao Wen immediately said to Haring. His phone came with a built-in location tracker, so within seconds, he pinpointed Peter Parker's position.

Haring had also heard the phone call and understood the seriousness of the situation right away.

He had long been ready to serve as a qualified superhero driver — not just for the generous pay, but out of a sense of duty.

All his life, he'd dreamed of being the right-hand man to a true superhero. And now, that dream had finally come true.

The Rolls-Royce roared to life, and the luxury car was driven like a racing machine, overtaking vehicle after vehicle in a blur.

Seeing this, Tao Wen couldn't help feeling a surge of satisfaction — when he hired Haring, it was because he'd noticed that detail in his résumé: professional race car driver.

The car sped down the street and soon arrived at the location where Peter Parker was in trouble.

Although this area wasn't exactly downtown, it was still a central district.

Normally it would be crowded with people, but now the streets were deserted — not a single figure in sight.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

With a series of deafening explosions, huge chunks of debris were raining down from the sky like hailstones, crashing violently onto the streets below.

Every impact sent dust flying — chunks shattered into ash upon hitting the ground.

Those that hit cars triggered a shrill chorus of alarms.

"Move the car to the back."

Tao Wen got out and ordered Haring, his gaze lifting to the sky.

Up above, two figures were locked in furious combat, crossing and clashing midair.

"Well, this is unexpected… Green Goblin already fighting Parker? So it's fate after all."

As he watched, Tao Wen realized the two figures in the air were indeed Osborn as the Green Goblin and Peter Parker. He couldn't help but sigh.

"There's no denying it — real combat is the best teacher."

"It's only in a life-and-death fight that one truly grows."

Tao Wen didn't rush to intervene. Under his watchful eye, Parker was no longer the rookie he had been. Faced with mortal danger, his reflexes had grown incredibly fast. Using his webs skillfully, he darted and swung to dodge Green Goblin's relentless attacks.

Bullets sprayed from the Goblin's glider, punching holes through walls and windows, relentlessly tracking Parker. Though he looked battered, his movements were becoming sharper and more instinctive by the second.

"Perfect. This will push Parker's potential to the limit."

Tao Wen sprinted forward. With a powerful stomp, he launched himself high into the air, bounding from rooftop to rooftop, keeping pace with the aerial battle.

He watched closely — ready to step in the instant Parker was in real danger.

"Spider-Man! You're finished! Since you won't join me to rule this world, then perish!"

Green Goblin's crazed voice echoed as he manipulated the glider, bullets raining wildly, determined to blast Spider-Man to hell.

"Ugly freak! Come on then! You can't even touch me! Just wait — once I get my chance, it'll be your turn to die! Oh, but I won't let you die too easily. I'll rip off your armor, throw you in the square, and let everyone see your hideous face. Maybe even make you into a specimen — so the whole world can spit on you!"

Parker shouted back defiantly, dodging and countering with taunting words — goading the Goblin into a rage, buying himself precious time.

"Sir, hurry up! I can't hold on much longer!"

He screamed silently in his heart — his only goal now was to stall until Tao Wen arrived to end the fight.

"Spider-Man! You infuriating pest! I'll tear you to pieces!"

The Goblin roared in fury, completely consumed by rage, losing all restraint.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Missiles fired from the glider, streaking toward Parker with deadly speed.

"Crap!"

Parker cursed loudly.

He shot webs frantically, anchoring to a nearby wall, and with a hard yank, slingshotted himself to safety — barely escaping the explosion.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The detonations rocked the entire building, blasting massive chunks of concrete into the air. Shards of glass rained down as terrified screams echoed from office buildings nearby.

Splash!

Green Goblin swooped down again, his glider accelerating sharply. The pointed nose of the craft thrust forward like a spear, aiming straight for Parker's heart.

At the last second, Parker fired a web, latching it onto the Goblin's helmet. The villain tried to dodge but was just a fraction too slow — his head was caught.

"Take this — spinning kick!"

As the Goblin struggled to tear the web from his face, Parker — furious and desperate — spun around and lashed out with a fierce kick aimed straight at his head.

"Not good!"

Just as Parker's kick was about to land, the Goblin abruptly dropped his hands and grinned — a sinister smile flashing in his eyes. Parker's heart skipped a beat. He tried to retreat, but it was too late.

The glider rammed forward, and though Parker twisted away, it still slammed into him.

Bang!

He was hurled into a high-rise platform.

A water tank exploded on impact, sending a massive spray shooting dozens of meters into the air.

Parker landed amidst the cascading water, scrambling desperately to escape.

The remaining fragments of the tank blocked his path.

Ratatatatatatat!

The Goblin's mad laughter echoed as bullets poured from his glider's guns, tearing the tank apart with no blind spots. Water gushed out, and Parker fell to the ground below, completely exposed.

"Spider-Man, you can't run anymore!"

The glider roared forward again, diving straight toward him.

The soaking water weighed Parker down, slowing his movements — he could no longer dodge as quickly. Each impact drove him further into the ground, leaving him barely holding on.

"It's over for you."

One more hit sent Parker flying again.

Then, from the Goblin's glider, a cloud of green gas burst forth, enveloping Parker.

The gas seeped into his lungs — his vision blurred, his head spun, and he stumbled, collapsing to the ground, on the verge of losing consciousness.

Green Goblin laughed maniacally, lowering the glider's guns and aiming at Parker's helpless form, ready to finish him once and for all.

"I've got to say," came a calm voice from not far away, "you really are hideous. You should take that armor off — Osborn's face is a lot easier on the eyes."
