Chapter 21 - Visiting Muqin

Huang Hao smiled at Bai Chun after hearing the driver's words.

"I haven't visited your home since you married or even seen Muqin."

Bai Chun frowned slightly, still annoyed with him.

"Well how about you come and we can stop by to see Muqin before going to my home." Bai Chun still invited him to come. Hearing this Huang Hao nodded happily since he wants to get a glimpse of the women Bai Chun has so he can tell his sister. They both got down and after looking up noticed the crowd had gotten bigger.

One of the servants around the carriage came behind them and closed the carriage door.

Seeing them out the carriage the village gossip Mrs. Wang approached with greedy eyes dragging her plump daughter along with her. Seeing him her daughter's eyes brightened and she flushed.

"Oh my who is this?" Mrs. Wang asked greedily, eyeing Huang Hao. Bai Chun frowned when seeing her.

"This is Huang Hao, remember? The eldest son of the Huang family. He hasn't visited in a while." He explained, hearing this everyone's eyes widened in shock.

"Oh wow you have grown so much and gotten handsome." Mrs. Wang grinned with bright eyes. She then pushed her daughter forward.

"This is my daughter, little Wang." Little Wang looked up, her chubby face rippling terribly. Huang Hao's eyes flash with disgust before he looks down at her with a smile.

"Oh well nice to meet you." Hearing this her eyes brightened with excitement. She bowed clumsily before stepping closer to him.

"It's nice to meet you." Huang Hao kept his smile on while stepping back. He looked over to Mrs. Wang who smiled happily at the two.

"I am here to visit Bai Chun's home since I didn't come to his wedding and never had the chance to meet his Qizi."

Hearing this Mrs. Wang frowned and looked at Bai Chun who stood on the side with a look of amusement. Little Wang stepped back, her face flushing with embarrassment.

"Well having a small chat with my daughter won't hurt. You two look like such a good match." Mrs. Wang said unhappily. Bai Chun suppressed a laugh and covered it by coughing. Huang Hao glared at Bai Chun before smiling at Mrs. Wang.

"As much as I would like to get to know your…" He eyed Little Wang.

"Beautiful daughter, I just don't have the time today. I need to do what I came here to do then rush home before it's too dark." He said stepping toward Bai Chun who stood with a stiff expression trying to hold his laugh back.

Mrs. Wang looked annoyed but nodded.

"Well let's go Little Wang," With that the two left under the teasing scrutiny of the surrounding villagers.

Bai Chun and Huang Hao then started walking to the orphanage.

"Did you like your potential concubine?" Bai Chun asked with a trembling voice. Huang Hao glared at him making Bai Chun bust out laughing no longer as annoyed anymore.

"I should speak with her and get her to send her daughter to you." Huang Hao said calmly, making Bai Chun look at him with horror.

"Don't do that! Little Wang is crazy." Bai Chun groaned, annoyed. Huang Hao smirked at him.

"Bet you need the entertainment." Bai Chun groaned at the thought. The two continued chatting as they reached the orphanage. Once there Bai Chun knocked on the door which was quickly opened not long after. Muqin looked out confused before her eyes opened wide.

"Bai Chun?!" She smiled happily and pulled him into a hug.

"You are such a terrible son never visiting me." She scolded as she stepped back with a big smile on her face. Bai Chun gave her an embarrassed bow.

"Muqin I have been very busy and didn't mean to not visit." Muqin laughed lightly before turning her head to Huang Hao.

"Muqin, this is Huang Hao do you remember him?" Bai Chun asked, She looked him up and down before smiling.

"You're that little boy who always came to play with Bai Chun in the past right?" She asked after looking at his clothes. Huang Hao smiled and bowed casually to her.

"Good to see the nice Muqin of the orphanage again." He greeted before looking at her up and down with a look of slight appreciation in his eyes. Bai Chun gave him a warning glance before looking back to Muqin.

"Oh please just call me Mrs. Wu." She said happily before stepping back.

"Come inside come come." Bai Chun and Huang Hao walked inside. They quickly saw a group of small children standing together with big eyes. Seeing them Muqin shooed them off.

"You're standing here staring at your senior brother like ugly little pigeons. Go off and play before I put you to work cleaning the house." The children ran off giggling to the back yard of the orphanage.

With a sigh Muqin looked back at the two boys.

"Don't mind the children, you know how the young ones are Bai Chun." Bai Chun just shook his head with a smile and Huang Hao just kept his usual smile. Muqin led them to the dining area where a few girls who weren't of age were cleaning.

The girls saw Bai Chun and their eyes brightened.

"Brother Bai!" Hearing the call, Bai Chun gave them a relaxed smile.

"Hey girls." The girls came over creating a small crowd around him.

"Brother Bai, how come you haven't visited us at all?" One of the girls pouted her lips with watery eyes.

"I am married now so I have to focus on my qizi and concubines. Besides, brother is trying to become an official." Bai Chun soothed the girls with a smile. All the other girls pouted as well.

Huang Hao watched all this with raised eyebrows as Bai Chun soothed all the pouting girls. Muqin looked at him and smiled.

"Bai Chun is loved by all the children like siblings. He told me when he was younger that if he could, he would take all the children as family since it's hard for them to marry well as orphans." Huang Hao listened to her words and thought of the small children and the girls that surrounded Bai Chun.

"It will be a while but I can see him doing it." Hearing this Muqin smiled happily.

"I'm glad that you think so." She then turned and looked at Huang Hao with slight sternness in her eyes.

"I remember your temperament from when you came to visit. So I know how much favor you have in your family and keep that for so long I know you're not simple. No matter what your plans are, don't ruin Bai Chun because besides being annoyed he will more than likely still help you to keep the friendship." Huang Hao's smile finally dropped and he gave her a blank look.

"I have no clue what you mean." He said deeply. She just looked at him for a second before smiling.

"Remeber what I said and not to go too far with him. Just support him and who knows he might become a good ally in the future." Huang Hao's smile appeared once more after seeing her back down a bit and he hummed in agreement.

"Not too far, not too far." She nodded her head before stepping forward and clapping her hands together sharply.

"Now girls you are unmarried while your brother is so step away. Next I need you to finish your chores before it gets late and the boys come back from making money." The girls all groaned but still walked away to finish cleaning while saying bye to Bai Chun.

Bai Chun sighed tired and gave Muqin a look.

"What took so long the girls are always so much no matter how old they get." Muqin gave him a look.

"Stay long enough until the boys get here and we can see who is a lot."

Hearing this, Bai Chun's face went pale.

"Brother Huang Hao let's leave so you can see my new home before it gets too dark."

Muqin laughed as she walked them to the door.

"Boy's don't get into too much trouble and Bai Chun don't keep Huang Hao too late, you don't have a guest room for that."

Bai Chun nodded his head smiling.

"Got Muqin I will try to visit as soon as I can. Also keep an eye out one of these days. I will buy some more land around my current house to expand more."

Hearing this Muqin laughed and waved them away.

 "Leave you, bad child."

 "Bye Muqin!"

 "Bye Mrs. Wu!"

They boys waved as they left walking to Bai Chun's home.
