They slowly approached Bai Chun's house as they chatted.
"Wow Brother Bai Chun didn't know the girls liked you so much." Huang Hao said teasingly, Bai Chun shook his head with a smile.
"The girls are still growing up so they are just having young love. I can't do much about it."
"How old are those girls?" Huang Hao asked curiously since they looked very young.
"Hmm last I remember they should be between twelve and fourteen so yes very young." Huang Hao smiled and shook his head.
"Well they are like your own sisters at this point so it's nice they feel so close to you."
Huang Hao looked up and saw the house they were nearing.
"Is this your house?" He asked Bai Chun, looked up and nodded.
"Wow, it looks newly built." Bai Chun gave him a strange look.
"Didn't I tell you that my Fuqin-in-law made it as a wedding gift?" Huang Hao frowned and thought before shaking his head.
"No I don't remember you saying that." Bai Chun nodded his head.
"Oh, well yes he had it made for us and all so that's why it's so new we've only lived in it for like a month or two."
Huang Hao nodded in understanding as they stopped in front of the gate.
Bai Chun opened the gate and let him in. As soon as they were inside the first thing they saw was Tao Chun with a broom in her hand sweeping. She looked up with her eyes bright as she smiled happily.
"Zhangfu!" She wanted to rush up and cling to his arm but her eyes locked onto Huang Hao. He looked her up and down with an appraising gaze.
"Go get Qizi." Bai Chun ordered her off before turning to Huang Hao while closing the gate.
"Let's sit there." Bai Chun pointed at two chairs sitting in the shade of a tree. Once they sat Tao Fang and the two concubines rushed out with Tao Fang leading them.
"Zhangfu, welcome back." They said with smiles. Bai Chun frowned when he saw Tao Chun and Li Bai behind her. Ignoring them for now he waved Tao Fang forward.
"Huang Hao, this is my Qizi. Qizi, this is Huang Hao, my friend." He introduced the two, Tao Fang bowed politely to Huang Hao who just nodded his head in response.
After doing so Bai Chun turned his head to look at Tao Chun and Li Bai. Li Bai stood with her hands together, her head down and next to her Tao Chun stood with her head held high proudly.
"Qizi, why did you bring them out to greet Huang Hao?" He asked calmly. Hearing this, Tao Fang flinched and glanced back at Tao Chun and Li Bai.
"This slave was trying to greet Mr. Huang Hao in the best way possible." She said softly, Bai Chun frowned and glanced at Huang Hao who had a glint of amusement in his eyes as he looked at Tao Chun and Li Bai.
"Well as Qizi you must know that concubines shouldn't be seen." He then looked at the two,
"Go inside and remember this so as to avoid punishment in the future."
With panic Tao Chun bowed and rushed back inside.
"Sorry Zhangfu, Sister Qizi said to come outside and do the greeting." Li Bai said bowing her cheeks naturally flushed from the sun.
Bai Chun's angry expression calmed down at her words and with a smile he waved her off to the house. Li Bai gave him a shy smile as she entered the house.
Bai Chun turned and looked at Tao Fang who looked stressed and slightly nervous.
"Go get chairs and some hot water." With that Tao Fang rushed inside to grab the chair. With her inside Huang Hao looked at Bai Chun with a smirk and chuckled.
"You have such a beautiful small harem." Bai Chun gave him an uncomfortable chuckle.
"I have a small family and they haven't got much in teaching's about a family with concubines." Huang Hao gave him a glance.
"Well once you marry my sister she has the training to run a family like this." He hinted a bit, Bai Chun gave an uncomfortable smile as Tao Fang came out dragging two chairs from inside and placed it in the shade under a tree near the wood wall.
"Your Qizi is very beautiful." Huang Hao said as they walked over and sat down. With a smile Bai Chun waved at Tao Fang.
"Yes, yes she is well taken care of." Tao Fang stepped a bit closer to Bai Chun smiled and while keeping her body slightly bowed.
"My Zhangfu works hard to make sure our future is secure so I must do my best to care for myself, everyone in the house , and run the household." She said softly . Huang Hao nodded with a smile at her words and Bai Chun chuckled.
"This slave will go inside and get the water." With a slight bow she rushed inside carefully making sure to close the door behind her.
Bai Chun turned to Huang Hao and gave him an apologetic smile.
"Sorry I don't have any tea so I g=can only give you some hot water." Huang Hao waved him off.
"It's fine I know your struggles but since I have high expectations of you in the future so I don't mind."
Bai Chun gave him a strange glance at his words, slightly offended but he didn't say anything since Huang Hao is his only connection to money at the moment.
At this time Tao Fang came out holding a wooden tray with two wooden cups filled with steaming water. She carefully lowered the tray and they grabbed their cups, blew on it a bit before taking a sip. Tao Fang turned and went back inside to leave them alone.
With her gone, Bai Chun started talking about business.
"So, have you heard of any positions open?" With his usual smile on his face Huang Hao shook his head. Seeing this, Bai Chun sighed and took a sip of his water.
"I was hoping there were enough open positions for those who pass the exam to get a small position." Huang Hao laughed as he took a sip of his water.
"I hoped so as well but I know you need a job so I will speak with someone I know in the tax area and get you a low rank position there." Bai Chun raised his eyebrows at his words.
"It's gonna be a good enough position that you aren't monitored as much, I just need you to not collect as much in taxes from my family."
Bai Chun frowned, not liking how much Huang Hao has been planning on using him.
'I need to build my own power as soon as possible.'
"I don't want to get caught doing something that could get me killed." Bai Chun said with a frown.
"It won't be much, just a small difference. All you need to do is take extra tax from smaller businesses with little to no power to cover the books." Bai Chun frowned, not wanting to do anything so shady. Huang Hao, seeing his expression, just smirked at him.
"You can even tax more of those businesses to collect more money for your family quickly and just give a small portion to the person who counts tax money so he can be quiet." Hearing this Bai Chun looked down in thought knowing he needs money to gain power. Huang Hao smiled at him as he sipped at his water.
"Well, I need time to think about it besides I don't even know if I'm gonna pass the exam." Huang Hao waved his hand in dismissal.
"You will,"
Bai Chun stood up after looking up at the sky.
"It's getting dark now." Hearing his hint Huang Hao stood up passing his empty cup to Bai Chun.
"Qizi!" Bai Chun called out and she rushed out quickly taking the cups he was passing to her. She bows to Huang Hao before going inside. After patting his clothes off Huang Hao slowly walked to the gate.
"Well I can't wait for the results to come out and don't worry about not having work." Bai Chun nodded, closing the gate and led him to his carriage.
Once there Huang Hao climbed into his carriage and waved at Bai Chun as the carriage turned around and left.
Bai Chun bowed to his carriage before turning around with a dark expression deep in thought.
