Jaime's speech stopped mid-sentence. Hikari dropped from the bar and landed on her feet. Juan opened one eye, then closed it, which meant he'd heard and would be present in body if not in consciousness.
I went to the kitchen. Natalia stood at the counter with a holographic projection of the Northern Wastes rotating above a datapad, her hair in a braid so tight it could have been used as a weapon, which knowing Natalia was not accidental. She wore my gray shirt. She always wore my shirt when she planned things that might kill us. I think she considered it a good luck charm. I considered it unfair because the hem hit her mid-thigh and the collar sat wide enough to show her collarbone and the small purple bruise I'd left there at two in the morning.
"Tuna," I said, and set the wrapped fish on the counter.
