Chapter 20 - Lian Yue

Zhiran was sure that he had never practiced this technique before, not in this life and never in his previous one.

Heck, he didn't even know the name of this technique.

But this feeling of déjàvu was real and getting stronger by the second.

'Heavenly Drift! Being able to levitate at proficiency, huh.'

Zhiran grabbed the scroll and opened it slightly, scanning its content. He could see countless words with enough projections of the human body in different forms inside the scroll, describing how to practice the technique.

Since it was a scroll and not a jade, if he chose this movement technique, he had to manually start by memorizing everything.

Although for a cultivator, that wasn't a problem as they could do it in a few days to a month, it showed that this method wasn't the best one here.

'But…why can I remember everything?'

However, even though that was the case usually, Zhiran felt that as he scanned those drawings and writings, he began remembering everything.

This feeling was so strange yet so familiar that Zhiran immediately noticed where he had felt it before.

'System, is this your doing?'

He suddenly asked after making sure that he remembered everything inside the scroll, just like that.

There wasn't even a challenge.

He could now remember every movement described in the scroll perfectly. All he needed to do now was to practice, and that's all.

Unfortunately for Zhiran, his system didn't answer him and remained silent.

'Forget it. Let's see if it works on other scrolls too.'

Since he got no answer, Zhiran put down the scroll in his hand, turning around, intending to test this ability.

If he could really remember each scroll just like Heavenly Drift, then he would have a jackpot today.

Zhiran couldn't help but get a little excited.

"Not working!"

'There is no feeling of deja vu anymore.'

'This isn't working either.'

'...'

"Sigh…I was excited for nothing."

Zhiran put down the final scroll in his hand back on the shelves and sighed loudly.

Except for the Heavenly Drift method, he could remember no other scrolls inside this room.

Heck, he even tried remembering the Yellow Grade, Early Stage technique out of desperation and realized that it would take him 15 days just to do that.

The content and complexity were so much that he had a headache.

'Then why is this technique different?'

"Hehe…you are so stupid."

Just as Zhiran was confused, suddenly a sweet laugh right next to him surprised him all of a sudden.

"Did you think you could remember all those techniques and practice them after leaving this place?"

When he turned to look, he saw standing before him a girl of short height, her delicate frame wrapped in robes embroidered with flowing cloud patterns.

Despite her short stature, there was a grace in her bearing that made her presence stand out, like a rare blossom among stones. Her features were soft yet refined, with eyes as clear as polished jade and lips tinged with a natural rose hue.

What stood out most was the faint, shimmering mark on her smooth forehead, shaped like a delicate crescent petal.

It glowed subtly under the light, lending her an ethereal charm that set her apart from ordinary disciples.

"You must be dreaming. Even I can't remember all of them just by looking. Why don't you just select something that is suitable for you? Your time is almost running out."

Seeing Zhiran looking at her, the girl scrunched her nose cutly and advised while placing her hands on her waist.

Apparently, she saw Zhiran going through one scroll after another and thought he was trying to memorize them and cheat the system.

But how was that possible?

Even a genius like her with high comprehension couldn't do it, let alone some unknown outer sect disciple.

"Thank you, Senior. I will keep that in mind."

Mo Zhiran was a little surprised to see the girl in front, especially when he saw that mark on her forehead.

After all, only the daughter of the Sect Leader had that crescent petal mark on her forehead.

'Lian Yue!'

He knew it because he saw her with a sect leader when they were heading for the First Tier, Celestial Peak Sect, in his previous life.

Now, from her robe, she seemed to be an inner sect disciple for now.

"Haha…yeah, juniors should listen to their seniors."

When Lian Yue saw Zhiran bowing slightly and accepting her advice, she immediately beamed a beautiful smile, almost dazzling the entire room.

She especially liked it when he addressed her as 'senior.'

"You are quite good, junior. How about I help you choose a technique? Do you want my help?"

Maybe she was too happy, as she even offered to help him. Her big innocent eyes looked at him, clearly expecting him to say yes.

She seemed so eager that Zhiran felt a little awkward.

"Eh...okay, senior, I want one movement and one attacking technique."

What could he do when she was so enthusiastic to help? He felt that if he said no, this girl might get angry and lash out at him all of a sudden.

Might as well let her choose.

Either way, with her foundation realm strength, she wouldn't make a mistake, would she?

"Haha…okay, okay. It is the duty of a senior to help a Junior, isn't it? You just wait, I will find the best method for you to practice from here."

Hearing Zhiran once again say 'Senior', Lian Yue felt her vanity was satisfied.

So, without even asking Zhiran's affinity or talent, she began browsing through each scroll, tablet, and jade slip in the entire room, ready to find the best of the best.

"Cloud Step? A Yellow rank early stage technique, tch, useless."

"Willow Shift, Yellow rank, mid stage, useless…"

"Shadow Foot, useless…"

"River Glide, tch… so tacky…"

"Drifting Leaf…useless"

"Dragon Fang Strike…yellow rank late stage? So much for being a dragon in its name."

Unfortunately, for each technique she saw, she discarded it without even reading it. She was so fast at rejecting it that before Zhiran could react, she went through every scroll in the entire shelves.

But she chose none.

Heck, Zhiran could see the thick disgust in his eyeslooking at those techniques.

For a daughter of the Sect Leader, such low-rank cultivation methods were truly horrendous. She couldn't even think of practicing any of those.
