Chapter 1 - Total lifespan is 35 years

Azure Dragon Continent. Imperial City of the Five Element Dynasty.

A neon sign glowed faintly in the morning haze, humming with strange light above a plain wooden courtyard gate.

Phoenix and Dragon Dojo!

The words pulsed in gaudy blue script that belonged in a modern metropolis, not the heart of an ancient dynasty. Passersby glanced at it once, frowned, and quickly looked away—as though pretending it didn't exist would make the absurdity vanish.

Below the sign, a young man in a plain white robe swept the stone steps with a bamboo broom. His motions were careful, almost reverent, as though the cleanliness of this empty courtyard determined the fate of nations.

The broom rasped against the stone. The neon buzzed overhead. Although it was a dojo, there was no sign of any children inside. Neither were there any parents waiting outside to pick their kids up.

"Another day without a single guest," Wang Chen muttered, shaking dust from the bristles. His black hair was tied neatly behind him, but his eyes were tired, lined with a weight heavier than mere chores.

He set the broom aside, and with a sigh whispered:

"Status."

A pale blue window shimmered before his eyes.

[Name: Wang Chen]

[Lifespan: 25/35]

[Race: Mortal]

[Cultivation: Rank 4 Qi Refining Realm]

[Talent: Tower of Infinite Enlightenment(Divine), Caring Heart(Unique)]

[Abilities: Blade Heart(Infant stage)]

[Techniques: Three Turn Sword Style]

[Potential: Miserable (Raise one Qi Refining disciple to improve potential)]

Wang Chen ignored the talent part and stared at the line that had haunted him since his arrival.

Lifespan: 25/35.

He was already twenty-five years old. Which meant—ten years left. Ten years to build a future in a world that ground the weak into dust.

A humorless laugh escaped him.

"So the great Phoenix and Dragon Institute... won't even outlive a sickly mule."

As if mocking him, another window popped up.

[Congratulations, host! Daily task 'Divinity in Small Things' completed. Reward: One year of cultivation in a low-grade sect.]

White light washed over him, strengthening his blood and bones. But the hollow ache in his chest remained.

He was running a dojo in a world where people could flip seas with a palm of their hands with no children. A mortal lifespan in a land of immortals.

To be honest, if possible he didn't want to do it, but soon he realized if he wanted to continue living and use the system to his advantage he had no choice but to accept it. After all, it was the only thing he knew.

Even back on Earth he ran a small dojo back in the Dragon Country countryside, teaching the only skill that he knew: the Three Turn Sword Style.

An ancestral technique passed through countless generations. According to the family records, at perfect mastery no matter which direction you slashed with the sword, the attack would land on the enemy.

To survive in the cultivation world, he once again established the dojo with the system's help.

At first everything was progressing smoothly—the dojo was opened, but even after days no one came to join.

Upon thinking, Wang Chen could understand why no one was willing to join his dojo. In this world martial arts was a serious matter; not just anyone would be willing to learn from a no-name master.

And then—

Grr!

The sound froze him.

Wang Chen's eyes snapped toward his growling stomach.

He had gotten so busy in the past week that he almost forgotten about eating. After all, with his fourth-ranking qi refining cultivation he didn't really need to eat for days.

Still, Wang Chen liked to eat regularly not because he wanted to keep some resemblance with his previous life—it was just that he was a foodie in his previous life. Someone who liked to eat tasty food.

Just as he was about to wear his wooden sandals, there was a violent knocking sound on the gate.

Wang Chen frowned for a moment, wondering who dared to knock on his door so violently, then thinking of something, the frown on his face slowly eased, his eyes lit up like torches.

Could it be that my first student is finally here?

For the first time since arriving in this world, someone had come.

Slowly his expression eased, and a dignified expression appeared on his face. He confidently walked to greet them.

Now that his first student was finally here, he would teach him his Three Turn Sword art. His disciple would instantly master it, and defeat thousands of opponents. As someone who taught the technique, Wang Chen would also naturally become world famous.

Wang Chen could hardly contain his excitement.

However, before the gate could even creak open, Wang Chen heard a loud commotion from outside:

"Yes boss, that is the place I was talking about. Someone actually dared to take over our place without your permission and even established a dojo!"

"And on top of that he didn't even pay the protection fees at all. It appears the owner of this place didn't place the Blood Fang in his eyes at all!"

The voice was followed by several other angry voices.

Wang Chen's face instantly darkened, his mood directly plummeting to the icy depths of hell.

It appears instead of a student, trouble had come knocking down on his door.

Wang Chen didn't consider himself a saint, but he wasn't a devil either.

Without even realizing it, his blood had automatically started to boil, and a cold sharp aura surrounded him.

If someone would look at Wang Chen now they would be definitely surprised. After all, usually Wang Chen looked like a refined gentleman who couldn't cause any trouble at all.

Then he muttered in an indifferent voice: "I am already hungry and there is someone coming to my doorstep to cause trouble..."

Meanwhile outside the gate.

Three men led by a bulky middle-aged man stood directly outside the gate.

The bulky middle-aged man was none other than steward of the Blood Fang, managing the surrounding area.
