Chapter 5 - aftermath and awakening

The atmosphere was gloomy and grim. Particles from the collapsed Blood Refinery were still flying in the air. Attracted by the explosion, quite a few people had even gathered and were watching from a distance while discussing among themselves in hushed voices. Although incredibly curious, none dared to get too close to the collapsed structure. After all, the collapsed building belonged to the notorious Blood Fang Gang, known for their extreme brutality.

No one present wanted to get on the bad side of the gang. After all, who knew how they might unknowingly offend the gang and have their entire family kidnapped and used as blood production crops for a lifetime? This was a fate worse than death.

Just at this time there was a commotion in the distance. Soon, with a light trembling of the ground, a blood-colored carriage appeared. However, what was strange was that instead of being pulled by animals or even monsters, this carriage was pulled by tens of humans.

This sight alone caused many of those present in the crowd to panic and flee. Clearly a big shot from the Blood Fang had arrived.

Indeed, the next moment, the carriage door gently opened and a figure walked down—a handsome man with a cool and calm look on his face. However, all those who looked at him sucked in a breath of cold air.

"Vice-Head Zhang!" Some even recognized who he was.

After realizing this, no one dared to linger around any longer. This was a crazy man who killed just because the weather was good today. This man was a complete madman—there was no knowing what he might do next.

Vice-Head Zhang looked at the crowd disappearing from the corner of his eyes and frowned. Next moment, however, his eyes slowly focused back on the collapsed facility.

The frown on his face tightened even more.

The production of blood pills was already lacking, and now they suddenly lost one of their facilities.

To Vice-Head Zhang, this looked like a move to sabotage them by their competition.

Which gang could it be?

Although the Imperial City might look peaceful on the surface, there were four gangs running rampant inside the city, each backed by one of the major families.

Thinking of the noble families, he spat on the ground. Those bunch of leeches got on his nerves.

While they did all the dirty work, the noble families only enjoyed the rewards.

While thinking, he slowly moved close to the collapsed building. Next moment, a few of the Blood Fang Gang members immediately came out to greet him.

"Vice-Leader Zhang," immediately asked, "any survivors?" Although he asked this question, he already had his answer.

A middle-aged man with one of his ears missing quickly bowed in greeting and answered:

"All of them seemed to have been killed by a single strike. It looks like the work of an expert, maybe at the Foundation Building realm."

Hearing this answer, Vice-Head Zhang's eyes narrowed automatically.

If a Foundation Building expert had taken action, he would have immediately noticed it, but he didn't.

While he was thinking, his eyes fell upon one of the severed bodies of a man, cleanly cut into two parts.

Vice-Leader Zhang noticed the remnant aura of sword art.

"A sword cultivator!"

If it was one of those madmen, then the destruction of the facility was understandable.

Although he could understand it, that didn't mean he was willing to forgive.

Then with another glance, he turned his head back and coldly ordered:

"Go to the Divine Hall and find out who was the cultivator behind all of this."

While the Blood Fang Gang was investigating, Wang Chen—the culprit behind it all—was shopping.

Large rows of shelves one after the other filled the hall. Young men and women slowly moved through the maze searching for the products that they were originally out to buy.

However, without even them realizing, they had picked up multiple other things that they didn't need.

Wang Chen looked at this scene and sighed. "No matter where you go, the spirit of capitalism will find you."

After all, profit and capitalism went hand in hand.

Although Wang Chen only ran a small dojo, he was still aware of it.

While shaking his head, he finally found a small pill bottle containing a single pill. "Vitality Strengthening Pill" was written on top of it in bold letters.

However, the price listed below it caused him to almost curse out loud.

Two spirit stones for a single pill. why not just rob people directly.

In the end he simply sighed. Anyways, he had made quite a large haul in the last raid, so he could afford to purchase it.

Of course, in the Blood Fang Gang raid, Wang Chen had not just destroyed the facility but he had also looted everything that he could find.

Surviving in this world without looting was a pipe dream.

Just as he was about to walk out, he noticed another pill bottle with a significantly lower price—almost half.

Two shelves away from Wang Chen was a bottle filled with red pills, emitting the faint smell of iron.

Wang Chen's nose suddenly twitched. He found the smell to be a little familiar.

"Where am I...!"

Lin Huang suddenly woke up and looked around in panic. For a moment his senses seemed to have gone completely haywire and he once again fell on the ground headfirst.

After months of hanging upside down, his body wasn't used to standing up straight.

While his body was adapting to the changed world, Lin Huang examined his surroundings, trying to find where he was.

His eyes, filled with vigilance, darted around. The atmosphere was clean and quiet, and not a sign of cultivators anywhere.

Just then he noticed a neon sign in the distance:

Phoenix and Dragon Dojo!

It was then the gate of the hall opened and a young man walked inside. With a gentle smile on his face, he looked at Lin Huang and said:

"You are finally awake."
