Chapter 10 - Academic shock

As if feeling Wang Chen's gaze in his direction, Lin Huang's eyes slowly opened, a puzzled look in them as he looked toward Wang Chen.

Wang Chen merely shook his head and turned his gaze away.

Just then, Wang Chen's brows twitched as strange memories of a skill were directly implanted into his head.

Wang Chen frowned and lightly said: "Status."

[Name: Wang Chen]

[Lifespan: 25/35]

[Race: Mortal]

[Cultivation: Rank 4 Qi Refining Realm]

[Talent: Tower of Infinite Enlightenment(Divine), Caring Heart(Unique)]

[Abilities: Blade Heart(Infant stage)]

[Techniques: Three Turn Sword Style]

[Potential: Miserable (Raise one Qi Refining disciple to improve potential)]

Magical Skills: Doomclock (Rare)

Everything was the same as before except another completely new category had appeared.

As he focoused on the the skill, Everything about the Doomclock that he needed to know had appeared in his mind.

He could place a timer of death on anyone weaker than him. Once the clock hit the time set by him, the target would die.

If it was only limited to that, it wouldn't be a skill taught by the tower. What made the skill special was that the death by this skill was somewhat absolute. Why somewhat absolute and not completely absolute? Someone above two realms above Wang Chen could defuse the timer.

Wang Chen cared no more and closed his eyes to meditate. Although he might not look like it, he was mentally completely drained. Fighting for one year without a single break was no joke.

Without even realizing, Wang Chen entered a deep meditative state.

Meanwhile, Lin Huang, sitting under the Bodhi tree, couldn't help but turn his eyes toward Wang Chen.

Just a moment ago, when Wang Chen had looked in his direction, Lin Huang felt as if he was looking into an all-devouring black hole. Lin Huang had only once experienced such a gaze when he met those mysterious elders in the past who wanted to take him as a disciple, but at that time Lin Huang still had his innate sword bone, as such he was simply too proud.

Maybe if at that time he had accepted the elder's offer, he wouldn't have gotten into this miserable situation.

Just as this thought occurred to him, Lin Huang shook his head fiercely.

What was he even thinking? Lingering on past events was only something that cowards do.

With that, Lin Huang closed his eyes again.

However, soon his eyes once again opened, and he let out a sigh.

There were too many distracting thoughts in his head—he was unable to focus.

Just like this, time continued to pass, and in the blink of an eye it was already next morning.

Wang Chen was still in his meditative position as if seemingly turned into a statue.

Lin Huang didn't disturb him. It was quite common for experts to stay in meditative positions for days—hell, he had even heard about some seniors meditating for years straight, only awakening when their sect or family faced the threat of complete destruction.

He simply did what Wang Chen had instructed him to do: ten kilometers run, hundred push-ups, and hundred sit-ups.

Although he had been injured just yesterday, doing these things was still child's play to him.

Lin Huang couldn't understand why the teacher would ask him to do these mundane things.

Although puzzled, he did as he was told.

After the small workout, he started cleaning the dojo diligently.

By the time he was done, the sun was completely above the horizon. Under the gentle rays of the sun, Lin Huang's figure became even more radiant.

A group of young men and women who were heading to the nearby dojo to train couldn't stop themselves from glancing in Wang Chen's direction again.

He simply ignored them and moved toward the library. Although the Phoenix and Dragon Dojo was small, it was still relatively large, divided into four areas: one training area, the library, the open ground, and finally the small garden where the Bodhi tree was.

The library was just directly opposite to the training area.

Lin Huang remembered Wang Chen's instruction from yesterday. Although he didn't understand Wang Chen's intention, he didn't want to disappoint his master on the first day itself.

So after cleaning the main gate, he directly moved to the library, only stopping when he was finally opposite to the first bookshelf.

Although the library might look small from outside, the books contained within were simply too many to count.

Lin Huang, not willing to waste his time, picked one book at random not expecting much and opened it.

On the cover were two words written in bold letters: The World Around Us, with a picture of a lady in a strange white suit holding a glass tube in her hand.

Lin Huang didn't have much hope. And indeed, the writing inside was simple and plain as if written by some machine.

However, the quality of paper made his eyebrows rise in surprise. It was incredibly thin, compared to those gigantic manuscripts.

Still, Lin Huang wasn't impressed. After all, cultivation had long stopped using paper, mostly using spiritual slips for storing knowledge.

Although not interested, he gave it a casual glance. However, the first sentence itself caused his eyes to widen.

He was simply unable to understand what was written at all.

Next moment when he tried to look at it for long, Lin Huang felt his head hurt, but he gritted his teeth and persisted.

Beads of sweat were rolling down his forehead, his body shaking.

After five minutes of trying, Lin Huang finally managed to understand the first line: Do you know what the world around us is made of? Countless small particles called atoms...

He had merely read this line, then his vision spun and he fell to the ground headfirst.

Moments passed in silence.

At the third hour of morning, Wang Chen finally opened his eyes, rubbing his temple. His head was still ringing.

Still, he felt better than before.

It was at this moment his vision seemed to have cut across distance and land upon Lin Huang lying sprawling on the ground, a book lying beside him.

He looked sound asleep.

Looking at this scene, instead of feeling disappointed, his lips curled upward slightly.

Indeed, no matter which world it was, seeing a textbook could force anyone to sleep.

All of these books in the library were something that he had gathered in his past life, so that all the kids who came to his dojo to train could also focus on their studies. After all, if the grades of the kids were to be affected because of the training, the parents would immediately withdraw their kids.

Sometimes as the situation called Wang Chen personally tutored kids who weren't doing good academically.

After another glance, he paid no more attention but stretched his body. just as he was lazing around, Suddenly however, his gaze turned sharp. He felt a hostile presence some distance away.

Blood Fang Gang? He had some guesses but he wasn't completely sure.

Curious, Wang Chen decided to check who it was.
