Chapter 14 - The Tea Ceremony

What is she doing here..?

Wang Chen hurriedly got up and fixed his robes. The people that he met on a day-to-day basis were extremely few, as such when he heard Zi Han's voice, he immediately recognized her.

Don't tell me she is really willing to become my disciple?

At that thought, the frown on his face automatically tightened. Next moment however, he immediately shook his head. If he accepted her, he would no longer be able to act as a hidden expert.

Soon two extremely beautiful women appeared—one mature with a curvaceous figure, while the other a beautiful flower in full bloom.

Wang Chen looked at Zi Han with a forced smile, as if he was in a difficult situation.

With just one look, Zi Han understood what Wang Chen was thinking and couldn't stop herself from snorting in disdain.

Did he really think she was going to become his disciple?

On the other hand, the eyes of her disciple Xin Yi couldn't help but focus on Wang Chen's figure.

With just one look she could tell, this man in front of her wasn't at Qi Refining realm, yet he carried himself with the air of a peerless expert.

However, she still wasn't in a rush to make a judgment. From the limited time she had spent with her master, Xin Yi could tell her master Zi Han was a formidable expert, clearly above Nascent Soul realm. There had to be some reason why her master bothered to visit this man.

Meanwhile, Wang Chen, unaware of the two's thoughts, calmly invited them for tea.

Seeing that her master didn't reject, Xin Yi also calmly sat down on one of the futons.

While Wang Chen was preparing tea, Xin Yi's eyes continued to dart around the place. Although the architecture of the Phoenix and Dragon Dojo was familiar, the atmosphere felt completely unfamiliar.

If Xin Yi had to put it in words, it would be something like "otherworldly."

Indeed, this was the correct term. Just as she had guessed, while the construction resembled ancient architecture, Wang Chen with the help of the system used modern techniques to construct this place.

Soon the freshly brewed tea was presented.

With almost zero expectations, Zi Han took the first sip. Next moment her expression froze. To the outside it looked as if she was simply sipping tea, but for Zi Han the world had transformed with resentment ghosts swimming around her, each one having the cultivation of Grand Ascension realm.

Soon however, Zi Han's expression returned to normal. She merely closed her eyes and the scene of absolute chaos in her eyes was gone.

Meanwhile, her disciple was also in the same situation as her master, but compared to Zi Han, Xin Yi wasn't faring better. To her it looked as if she was suddenly attacked by thousands of resentment ghosts at the same time, each more powerful than normal Foundation Building cultivators by dozens of times.

Zi Han could notice her disciple's state, and immediately tapped on her back. The illusion Xin Yi was experiencing immediately broke apart and disappeared.

Immediately Xin Yi came out of the nightmare and looked around with her eyes filled with horror. She had never experienced such a terrifying battle in her lifetime—no, it was not a battle, it was similar to experiencing hell.

How could someone even survive in such a place?

Next moment she looked in Zi Han's direction and asked: "Master, what was it?"

Zi Han looked at her disciple's reaction and internally sighed. However, she couldn't blame Xin Yi after she herself had fallen into the illusion.

Next moment however, Zi Han's demeanor changed and a completely serious look appeared in her eyes.

"Xin Yi, my disciple can't be this ignorant to not recognize such a simple thing. Anyways, I have yet to teach you anything, so treat this as the first lecture."

While Zi Han spoke, Xin Yi calmly listened.

Meanwhile, Wang Chen almost spit out the tea witnessing the exaggerated reaction of the master and daughter pair. The two looked as if he had made them drink something adulterated.

However, still with his sheer will alone he managed to force down the tea.

Next moment however, he subconsciously perked up his ears. He was also curious what Zi Han had to say.

Zi Han looked at her disciple for a moment, then spoke in a profound tone. Although she was seriously speaking, her voice was as sonorous as a zither playing in the cool autumn morning:

"The art of tea making is very profound, consisting of many stages..."

"When a master tea maker reaches the art of intent infusion, they could allow others to experience one of their memories."

Then she stopped briefly and looked in Wang Chen's direction: "What you experienced just now was what fellow Daoist might have experienced in the past."

Hearing the slightly appreciative tone in Zi Han's voice caused Wang Chen's face to turn red.

Zi Han made it sound as if he had done something incredible. In reality, Wang Chen himself knew he knew nothing about the art of tea making, so how could he even let others experience the same emotion?

Just then Zi Han continued: "Dear disciple, you should quickly thank fellow Daoist, as these memory experiences are extremely beneficial for other cultivators. A rare few could even comprehend the Dao with the help of these."

At first Xin Yi thought her master must be joking, but soon realized the bottleneck she was feeling seemed to have loosened slightly. If she wanted, she could have a minor breakthrough in cultivation at any time. Not just that, the doubts that she had regarding her cultivation technique also seemed to have cleared.

Meanwhile, Wang Chen's expression barely changed from start to finish. Once the two calmed down, he merely said: "No big deal. This was just a small gift from my side."

Hearing Wang Chen's words, Zi Han's expression turned slightly strange. What she had explained just now was only half correct—while memory infusion could help others, the tea maker himself had to pay a terrible price.

However, next moment, Zi Han's expression turned slightly confused. Fellow Daoist Wang Chen didn't look as if he had suffered any setback.
