Chapter 21 - The Key

The movie began.

The circumstances of Bruce Wayne's upbringing resonated with Tony Stark.

The conflict between Tony and Howard only gradually surfaced as the former got older and his personality matured.

Before Howard and his wife died in a car accident, the conflict had erupted, and Tony hadn't spoken to Howard for a long time.

After Howard and his wife passed away, Tony truly regretted it, but it was too late.

In that respect, Bruce Wayne was even worse off.

His parents died before he grew up.

Still young, his family's business was seized, leaving him only with the butler for company. Even when facing his childhood sweetheart, Rachel, he was hesitant and unable to break the ice.

Tony Stark was getting more and more frustrated the longer he watched.

Just when he was about to walk out, Bruce Wayne in the movie made a decision.

He decided to leave Gotham City, go into hiding, and travel the world, seeking the most effective methods to combat crime, making the most evil villains in the world tremble in fear.

He inherited his father's will, wanting to change the decayed Gotham City.

He trained diligently in the snow mountains and gained power from the League of Assassins.

When Bruce Wayne returned to Gotham, transformed into Batman, the entire film's dark style shifted slightly towards a more enjoyable direction.

Bruce Wayne reclaimed control of his family's business.

He ordered Lucius Fox to create the Batman Armor.

Embracing childhood fears as his creed, adhering to the principle of no killing, he becomes the night's bat, a knight in the darkness, using astonishing skill, superior intellect, and high-tech weaponry to change the city.

Americans just love this kind of individual heroism.

Many people were hyped.

Finally, the big villain appears, and it's none other than Bruce Wayne's master, the leader of the League of Assassins, Henri Ducard.

The dramatic treatment was surprising.

Unexpected, yet within reason, the plot made people feel the screenwriter's sincerity.

After Bruce Wayne defeats the big villain, the screen goes black, followed by a post-credits scene as a clue for the second movie, and then the credits roll.

Everyone knew the movie was completely over.

"Clap clap clap!"

People couldn't help but applaud.

Tony's face was grim.

Although he didn't want to admit it, the movie was brilliant.

A typical three-act structure.

Simply put, it was the beginning, the climax, and the end.

The creative ability Anton displayed in this movie made him unable to believe that this was the "old friend" he once knew.

Many of the rich second-generation types who had come here to watch the show all applauded in tribute.

They looked at Anton with admiration.

At the same time, many people present saw the list of the main creators that appeared in the last few minutes of the movie's ending credits.

Director: Anton.

Screenwriter: Anton, Browning. Editor: Anton.

Anton's name was on several important positions.

Even though the names of the ten or so assistant directors were a bit eye-searing, those who knew Anton were almost popping their eyeballs.

Especially Betty, who was next to Anton.

Jameson was very pleased.

He felt that Anton had finally found his calling.

Coupled with Anton's recent performance at the Daily Bugle, even if he were to live for a hundred years, Anton would still be able to bring the Jameson family to a higher position.

"Thank you, everyone."

Anton spoke on stage, calm and collected, full of wit and charm.

After the premiere, he specifically sought out Tony, who had originally wanted to leave, but suddenly took an interest in Rachel's actress.

"Tony, thank you for your fifty million."

Anton was beaming, and after seeing the audience's reaction, he was even more confident in the film's success.

Although Tony had foreseen his own failure and was extremely unhappy, he wouldn't resort to underhanded tactics to sabotage someone else's success. He could be petty, but he had his own sense of decorum.

Otherwise, if Tony Stark's Stark Industries' armaments had been constantly plagiarized and slandered by the arms dealer Hammer Industries, he would have been furious and probably died of rage long ago.

"You only won once."

Tony, with a dark expression, emphasized to him, "And I, at the party before, won against you countless times. Don't get carried away, I guarantee there won't be a second time."

"We'll see."

Anton acted as if he couldn't be bothered.

As the losing side today, Tony couldn't argue back. He was exasperated and didn't want to talk to Anton anymore. He didn't even care about the female celebrity and pulled Pepper away.

Tony finally experienced the feeling Anton had when he was driven away by him at parties before.

"I'm sorry for not being a good host, I won't see you out!"

Anton yelled from behind him.

Tony quickened his pace.

"Darling, it seems like it's just the two of us now."

Anton turned around, spreading his hands towards the female lead who often discussed scripts with him late at night, and gave a helpless smile.

"Then you can't run away tonight."

The charming and alluring actress revealed a captivating smile.

"Of course."

The next day, Anton stood up, supporting his waist, his legs trembling slightly.

The sleeping beauty beside him had a rosy complexion, curled up in the covers with a look of contentment, her breathing even, like a princess waiting to be awakened by a prince's kiss.

But Anton didn't dare kiss her now.

He'd almost surrendered yesterday; what if it happened again today? Wouldn't that be embarrassing? The ancients were right.

Only the exhausted ox, never the ruined field.

Being a man was really too hard!

Anton thought to himself, when the Batman Armor is exchanged, if he wears it, plays a bit of role-playing, could he revive himself on the spot? He got dressed and left without a second glance, closing the door behind him.

Arriving at the Daily Bugle, Betty had been waiting for a long time and threw a report in front of him.

"Congratulations, the movie was a great success."

Betty's expression was blank. "Fourteen million in box office sales at midnight. For an original film without a strong fanbase, you've proven your abilities. Of course, you might have to thank Tony Stark's influence."

"I've already thanked him in person."

Anton shrugged, then changed the subject. "Betty, you seem to be in a bad mood. Are you on your period?"

Betty said coldly, "If you could wipe that unsightly lipstick mark off your neck, I'd be in a much better mood."

"Oh?"

Anton grinned, lowering his voice, his eyes full of affection. "You wouldn't happen to like me, would you? I know I'm charming. You don't have to say it. Tonight..."

"You're dreaming."

Betty was merciless. "I worked all night, and you're off having fun with a female celebrity. If you weren't my boss, I'd kick your ass."

"Alright, double the bonus this month."

Anton, feeling a bit awkward, decided to let his money do the talking.

"That's more like it."

Betty was immediately won over, speaking professionally, "I suggest we continue to increase the publicity. Only a small number of film critics have spoken out so far, and the ratings will inevitably drop as the release time goes on…"

"Got it, go handle it."

Anton waved his hand dismissively.

He got a headache just listening to these work-related problems.

Especially after a night of hard work, he couldn't stand to hear this stuff.

"Anything is acceptable if it boosts ticket sales."

Anton gave an answer.

Anyway, he didn't really care about the box office; it was the high exposure behind the high box office that mattered.

Fan Value was the key.
