Chapter 45 - Kingpin: I Only Want Results

"Jim, it seems you've come around. Welcome to DC."

Anton chatted with Jim for a short while, quickly finalizing DC's operational procedures.

Jim would naturally be in charge of the film division.

The highly successful screenwriter he'd previously worked with, Browning Toby, would handle the screenwriting.

Anton would oversee the creative direction and overall strategy.

Besides films, DC would continue recruiting talent, aggressively expanding into the novel, comic, and animation industries.

At the same time, Anton would launch a forum on The Daily Bugle's official website to serialize long-form novels, featuring stories of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and others.

As time went on and they accumulated enough users, this forum would be spun off as an independent platform for "Online Literature," like a Qidian in the Marvel world.

This grand blueprint filled Jim with excitement.

However, Jim had been in Hollywood for so many years, and every year, people painted these blueprints for him, but very few succeeded.

The only difference was that Anton possessed something these others didn't.

First, Anton had already proven his talent with The Mystery of the Shadow. Second, Anton had the Jameson Family behind him, and he also owned The Daily Bugle, a media mogul.

Compared to others, Anton entering the entertainment industry wouldn't face any issues; instead, he would thrive.

Of course, what Jim didn't know was that the development of his career was only the most insignificant part of Anton's plan.

What Anton wanted to achieve more was the Fan Value corresponding to the heroes of the Justice League.

Currently, Batman's Fan Value: 14.8 million.

Superman Fan Value: 0 Wonder Woman Fan Value: 0 Flash Fan Value: 0 ...

In fact, besides the main template hero Anton first redeemed, Batman, the rest all had a big, fat zero.

The Fan Value required to redeem the remaining heroes varied: 10 million, 20 million, 30 million, 40 million, 50 million, and even 100 million.

Anton knew very well that Batman was worth 50 million Fan Value, but the system gave him a huge discount, bringing it down to 9.98 million. It was already a massive concession.

"Let's go, working class!"

Anton was full of ambition.

Jim saw his drive and thought this guy was full of hope for the future, and he couldn't help but get excited too.

If Anton's ambition came true, with the guarantee Anton gave him, he could at least become a billionaire.

If they successfully went public and became the world's largest entertainment company...

A net worth of billions wouldn't be a dream.

"Anton, don't worry, I won't let you down."

Jim patted his chest, making a solemn promise.

"?"

Anton was baffled.

Finally, the celebration party ended in a friendly atmosphere.

Anton woke up alone in the room, regretting that he hadn't taken revenge on the actress last night. He went downstairs to eat the breakfast the servants had prepared early, and met with Betty.

Betty gave him a strange look.

"What's wrong?"

Anton shrugged, "Betty, you've seen my handsome face more than once. Just spit it out."

Betty said, "You definitely didn't read the New York news this morning."

Anton asked, "Why would I waste my time reading that stuff?"

Betty said, "Last night, Batman appeared in New York, captured the leader and key members of the assassin organization, the Brotherhood, and also caught a gangster, a man nicknamed Bullseye."

"Isn't that great?"

Anton finished his sandwich in one bite, in a great mood, "Finally cleared me of being Batman. I'm just me, I'm Anton."

"Maybe."

Betty shrugged. She was also a bit disoriented by this whole thing.

But even if Anton wasn't Batman, he had a close relationship with him.

That was a well-known fact.

"Alright, leave Los Angeles to Jim. He'll prepare for Batman's second film, The Dark Knight. Meanwhile, we should go back to New York and get ready to do some other things."

Anton finished his breakfast and waved at Betty, "Get my plane ready."

"Sorry, you fired all the staff on your plane yesterday, so it can't fly now."

This time, Betty spread her hands.

"What? Didn't I tell you to go back and fire them again?"

Anton, his face darkening, exposed his capitalist nature and snorted, "Your bonus is gone this month."

New York.

The news of Batman's reappearance had spread throughout the streets and alleys.

Despite only a small appearance, everyone in Batman's base of operations knew his name.

Even if they didn't like it, they had to follow the trend.

That's the herd mentality.

Regarding the report in The Daily Bugle, Batman took down a killer organization called the Brotherhood, capturing their leader and key members. Simultaneously, during the capture, he also apprehended a notorious mob enforcer and delivered him to the New York City Police Department.

Although the NYPD hasn't officially commented, the color photos on the front page of the newspaper make it undeniable.

Along with the news in The Daily Bugle, a photo of New York City Police Commissioner George Stacy with Batman has spread throughout the city.

Honestly, as the Police Commissioner of New York City, George Stacy has never been this famous.

He's certainly been in the paper before, but being "mobbed" by reporters was unprecedented.

Today, as soon as he arrived at work and hadn't even parked his car, a group of reporters recognized his license plate and chased him, asking questions about Batman.

"Is the New York City Police Department cooperating with Batman?"

"Is Batman considered an illegal vigilante?"

"Will the NYPD grant Batman law enforcement authority? Or will they arrest Batman?"

Unable to take the questions any longer, George Stacy threw out a "No comment" and hurried into the police station, pushing through the crowd.

What they didn't know was that, at this moment, in a high-rise building in Manhattan, two people were also discussing Batman.

"Many people believe Batman's identity is Anton Jameson, the grandson of Jonah Jameson, the owner of The Daily Bugle."

Wesley said, "After investigation, we also believe Anton is Batman. But last night Anton was in Los Angeles, while Batman was still in New York, so we ruled out Anton's identity... Currently, there are no other clues. Of course, it can be confirmed that Batman is definitely closely related to Anton of The Daily Bugle."

Kingpin was very dissatisfied after hearing this, his face full of anger, staring at the subordinate in front of him.

"So you haven't found anything?"

His suppressed anger was almost exploding from his chest, and he said word by word: "Everything you just said is bullshit. What I want is Batman's identity."

Wesley Welch swallowed hard.

As Kingpin's right-hand man, he rarely showed such a nervous expression.

When he did, it only meant that Kingpin's emotions were about to spiral out of control.

At such times, whatever he said or did was useless.

"Anton, Anton definitely knows Batman's identity," Wesley said quickly, his forehead covered in sweat.

"Then go and capture him."

Kingpin spoke slowly, his tone unwavering: "I only want results. Don't disappoint me, Wesley."
