"General Ross, rest assured. If Osborn Industries falls into my hands, I guarantee the company will fully support your gamma ray research, pushing your soldiers toward ultimate evolution."
In the spacious office of Hammer Industries, Justin Hammer leaned back in his chair, gazing at the starlit sky. His voice was honeyed and persuasive over the phone.
He added with a sly smile, "At the same time, Hammer Industries can provide you with superior equipment to capture that green monster."
"Justin, enough with your bragging," came the calm, cold voice of Thaddeus Ross on the other end.
"If you can wrest Osborn Industries from Norman, no one will interfere. The military will stay silent. After all, nobody wants such a major company run by a teenager."
"Then I'm reassured."
Hammer's smile widened silently, growing more audacious.
"But remember what you promised," Ross said, ending the call.
Hammer watched the city lights below, the starlight above, and then withdrew his phone to send a signal.
[Action]
…
Anton emerged from the sewers, pondering Norman's request.
Since the Green Goblin incident, and Norman's disappearance, only a short time had passed. Yet, Osborn Industries' internal conflict had quickly reached a critical point — a volatile state where the slightest spark could ignite disaster.
Even without digging deep, Anton could tell from recent news that Harry Osborn was in a precarious position.
Among the many shareholders pressuring him, Harry remained on the edge, yet still held the advantage.
A company as lucrative as Osborn Industries was in plain view, yet many envied him bitterly.
As Norman had said, even if Harry withdrew and lived as a wealthy heir, peace would elude him. As long as Norman's influence remained, the company would never fully belong to anyone else.
Osborn Industries bore Norman's mark indelibly.
There was only one solution: prevent Harry from ever truly inheriting it.
"Does the military really have a hand in this?" Anton murmured, hearing Norman's worry. He was unsurprised by the U.S. military's audacity, but even so, this was shameless.
Yet, from a certain perspective, it was logical.
Hammer Industries.
Recalling the news, Anton pieced it together. Justin Hammer, leading his faction at the Osborn board, had joined forces with some members to challenge Harry Osborn, the major shareholder who had inherited Norman's seat.
They argued that Harry, being too young and inexperienced, should be stripped of his executive powers and reduced to shareholder status only.
The public enjoyed the drama.
In response, Harry rallied his supporters and narrowly defeated the so-called "unreasonable" restriction.
The media reported that Osborn Industries had officially split, with Hammer leading external forces attempting to seize control.
Yet Harry's slight victory revealed the truth: support for him inside the company wasn't as strong as assumed. He was barely holding on, like a foot teetering over a cliff's edge.
For Hammer and his allies, if the official channels failed, the underground route was the obvious choice.
Norman had once walked this path himself — ruthless and strategic. That was how he had built Osborn Industries into the power it was today.
During Norman's peak, even the military relied on Osborn Industries for overseas operations. Stark Industries faced the same. Howard Stark had come out of war hardened, accustomed to blood and darkness, and even helped found S.H.I.E.L.D.
That's why Tony's declaration to withdraw Stark Industries from military contracts caused such a stir. Everyone knew why Stark held such influence.
Through a short but intense trial, Harry had matured, shedding his naivete. Now, he knew Hammer Industries and the military were in cahoots.
Harry consolidated Norman's private armed forces, preparing thoroughly for the imminent threat. Both sides understood: this was the first battle — and the last.
If he held, Osborn Industries remained in the family.
If he fell, his future was bleak.
Harry knew his enemies might not kill him outright, but could leave him bedridden or paralyzed, powerless for life — a fate worse than death.
Suddenly:
"Boss, they're here!"
A stern, muscular man appeared beside Harry, voice grave.
"Ready?" Harry asked.
"Always."
He was the leader of Norman's private armed forces — Cromwell Donald, raised by Norman and indoctrinated with absolute loyalty.
Norman had shown foresight long before his Green Goblin persona emerged, assembling this elite force years ago and deploying them in France, South Africa, and the Middle East. Battle-tested, they were fearsome.
Yet even so, Harry didn't feel fully confident. Tonight, he faced the most terrifying adversary of his life.
Soon, under the clear night sky, Osborn Manor in New York's outskirts saw a squad of heavily armed, expressionless men approach.
"They've arrived!"
Cromwell's eyes flickered as he received confirmation from his scouts.
Simultaneously, a figure in green armor descended upon the manor like a specter.
Standing atop the highest point, he scanned the surrounding woods — sensing movement.
Rustle…
From the distance came the faint noise of fabric brushing against leaves.
