"Cut the power!"
"Quick! Cut the experimental platform's power! If we cut it, we can stop the experiment!"
Someone had realized the key and shouted loudly, urging anyone near the platform to act.
"Who dares?"
But Otto roared, and the mechanical arm behind him suddenly extended, striking the person trying to pull the switch, sending him flying.
BANG!!
The man was tossed like a ragdoll and crashed to the ground.
Everyone saw his chest caved in, blood foaming at his lips, his body convulsing—he was probably done for.
Those nearby swallowed hard, staring at the circuit breaker, too afraid to move.
"Damn it! There's not enough time!!"
Tony, pulled away by Anton, stood at a distance of roughly two hundred meters from the platform. The intense magnetic field near the Hudson River made his expression grim.
The metallic objects shifting nearby were minor compared to the real danger:
The bridge overhead creaked audibly.
Most terrifyingly, if the artificial sun exploded, it could easily destroy all of New York.
Everyone present would die.Even New York would be obliterated.
"Anton!!"
Tony gritted his teeth, glaring at Anton beside him.
It was this idiot who wasted precious time!
Only a few minutes remained. If they didn't cut the platform's power, Otto's artificial sun would reach a critical point and boom—exploding.
New York would become rubble. For years afterward, no one would dare enter that area.
Nuclear fusion energy was just that terrifying.
Truthfully, Otto's theory might be correct—he had successfully created an artificial sun—but some calculation error or unaccounted-for real-world factor had rendered it unstable. Now, failure loomed, and the consequences would be catastrophic.
"Why are you staring at me?"
Anton shrugged innocently. "Tony, I saved you! Don't think I didn't notice—you were about to climb the platform and throw yourself to die… Otto has gone mad, and those mechanical arms behind him aren't toys."
Tony twitched at the corner of his mouth.
Seeing Anton with that "I'm doing this for you" expression, he had no words to argue.
He tightened his grip on the case he held, face set with determination. He was never one to back down.
At that moment, a woman's voice rang out from the platform.
"Otto! Shut it down!"
Though no one knew there was only a minute or two left, the urgency was clear. All eyes hoped Batman—or any hero—would show up. But this sharp voice came from an unexpected source.
Who was this female warrior?
They turned to see a woman around forty, straining toward the platform, voice hoarse with desperation.
"Shut it down, Otto!" she cried, tears streaming.
"Rose!"
Otto hesitated, and the mechanical arms behind him hovered without striking.
"She's Otto's wife!"
Someone recognized her.
Others understood: Otto still had a shred of humanity.
But just as this thought crossed their minds—whoosh!
A mechanical arm shot toward Rose like lightning.
"No!!"
Otto's face twisted.
He realized he could no longer control the arm.
Click-click-click!
The suppressor chip had failed.
"How is this possible?"
Panic overtook Otto. He had no idea: the arm had unintentionally absorbed energy from the artificial sun. The circuit branch couldn't handle it, overloading the suppressor chip and burning most of it.
In short, Otto had lost control of the mechanical arms.
His "loss of control" was largely due to the smart arms themselves, yet he remained oblivious.
"Rose!!"
Otto roared, twisting his face, desperately trying to retract the arm—but he couldn't.
"Damn it!"
Nearby, Tony, who had just finished talking to Anton and was about to suit up, turned to witness the scene, his face grim.
It was too far; even he was helpless.
BOOM!
At that moment, an arrow sliced through the air from a distance.
CLANG!
Just as the mechanical arm was about to strike Rose, the arrow intercepted it.
Click-clack!
The arrowhead transformed, shooting out a net that tightly bound the hand of the mechanical arm, tying four arms together.
Net Arrow!
"Otto!!"
Rose's heart raced. She looked at Otto in disbelief—she couldn't imagine her beloved husband would strike her!
Everyone else turned to see the source of the arrow.
Above the Manhattan Bridge, a man in green armor stood on the railing, overlooking the platform.
"Who is that?"
Everyone recognized—this was no Batman, nor any known superhero.
Another vigilante?
Eddie pointed the camera at him, astonished.
He knew who it was:
"Green Arrow…"
He whispered, eyes wide, glancing at Anton.
Anton noticed and smiled subtly, calm, completely unthreatened.
Truthfully, like Anton, Eddie wasn't as panicked as he seemed. Both could intervene—Anton as Batman, Eddie wielding "Venom"—to resolve this crisis at any time.
But Anton had signaled him to wait.
Now, Eddie understood who Anton was waiting for.
"Green Arrow!"
Excited, Eddie's face lit up. He recalled asking Anton about Green Arrow just days ago—never imagining he would see him today.
He shivered, realizing Anton had orchestrated all this. This man was terrifying.
"Who is that?"
Tony stared blankly at the man on the Manhattan Bridge, placing down the case.
It seemed it wasn't his turn to act.
Even if he intervened, the green-clad man would steal the spotlight anyway—so why bother?
Amid cheers, Green Arrow nocked another arrow, aiming at Otto.
Whoosh!
The arrow shot forward.
Otto stared coldly at Green Arrow, his humanity gradually replaced by the intelligent mechanical arms—he had become Doctor Octopus.
Nearby, Rose saw the man she had shared years with suddenly become a stranger.
BOOM!!
The arrow split in midair—one toward Otto, the other striking the circuit breaker.
Sizzle!
The artificial sun was instantly extinguished.
BOOM!
Metal objects suspended in the air plummeted, creating deep craters along the riverside.
The trembling bridge quieted.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Eddie recorded everything excitedly.
He wasn't alone—other journalists also seized the chance to film this mysterious green-clad hero, pondering what to call him.
"Bastard!!"
Otto clenched his fists, mechanical arms thrashing.
Descending from the platform, his anger boiled over.
Now Doctor Octopus, Otto's thought process had changed, abandoning most human emotion, focusing only on his goal: the artificial sun.
This new adversary had blocked his grandest achievement.
"I'll tear you apart!"
Otto roared.
Green Arrow leapt from the Manhattan Bridge, unprotected, face calm, yet every motion precise and heroic.
In midair, he fired another arrow with a grappling tip, attaching a fine steel wire to himself, ensuring a safe landing. Fluid, elegant, and precise.
Once on the ground, he faced Otto, voice low and solemn:
"Otto, you have failed this city!"
"Holy crap, he even has an opening line?! Just like the comics!!"
Eddie captured every word, connecting it to the comics he had read. His mind raced—DC, Batman…
Could Superman, Flash, or Steel appear next?
Even the Black heroes like Steel now rivaled Green Arrow in fame.
"Failed this city?"
Otto's suppressed rage erupted, and mechanical arms lashed out at Green Arrow like a storm.
Green Arrow dodged, firing arrows at impossible speed, colliding with the mechanical tentacles.
CLANG-CLANG!
Explosive, net, acid, and rust arrows—none could harm or restrain the arms.
Green Arrow, with all of Anton's memories, scrutinized the arm casing—something was off.
Vibranium?
With Stark Industries backing, acquiring rare Vibranium wasn't impossible.
They exchanged blows, yet neither could land a decisive strike.
Four arms each had cameras in the palms, tracking every arrow. Escape was impossible.
"It looks like it's really hard for him to deal with Otto."
Nearby, Anton and Tony watched intently, journalists recording every thrilling moment.
Otto, impatient, gritted his teeth, approaching Green Arrow.
Finally close enough, he smiled cruelly—but Green Arrow remained calm, returning an icy smile.
"You think…"
Green Arrow spoke slowly:
"You're not my only opponent."
Otto's eyes widened. His mechanical arms detected a meteor-like figure descending from the sky.
Boom!
A silver figure plummeted, reflecting sunlight.
Supersonic shockwaves erupted in all directions.
Manhattan Bridge. Hudson River. The platform.
Everyone saw the figure as if a god had descended—jaw-dropping awe.
Victor Stone—No… Steel!!
Tony recalled Anton pulling him aside earlier, suddenly understanding.
