Maria's POV
Jada flipped the book over a couple more times, but everything remained like it was.
"Are there other books like this?" I asked with widened eyes.
Jada shook her head. "I lent this book to the last seer I trained. It wasn't blank."
I stared at the blank pages, trying to understand what tricks our minds played on us.
"Were you in the same room with the girl when she read the book?" I asked the question out of curiosity, unsure if it could solve the problem.
"No. She took it home and returned it the next day. I never bothered opening it."
"Then, how come the pages are blank?" I sighed out of frustration and grabbed the book, flipping through its white blank pages. "Maybe you brought the wrong book. This couldn't be the one you gave her."
While I was still talking, a gust of wind slammed the library door shut. The book began shaking in my hand. I tried to throw it off, but some unseen force balanced it.
