Chapter 9 - Unleashed

Alpha POV

I couldn't sleep all night thinking about this new girl.

I remembered how my heart bled at the sight of her hanging by the cliff soaked in blood. That was how I carried her to the hospital despite my Beta being injured; rather, I felt mad at Anita for pushing her down the cliff.

A part of me wants to see her to know if she's okay.

I had just walked out when my brother saw me. He was always getting at me. Ever since our mom died, our relationship has been estranged.

"Anita said she killed the new girl," he said with a smirk plastered on his face.

"She can kill anyone that trespasses; what does that have to do with me?" I answered back at him. I'm not one to have weakness because once someone discovers I have a soft spot for anybody, they try to use that person against me. I ignored his annoying talk as I hurriedly left because I wanted to check up on that girl.

Becky's POV:

The next morning, a restless energy lingered in my body. The old man's words spun in my mind, a warning I couldn't shake. I had made a vow to never stay where I could cause harm to innocent people, but every instinct screamed that danger still followed me. The hospital felt smaller, the hallways narrower, as if the city itself had eyes, watching. I needed to leave this cursed place before it trapped me again.

I asked around again; no one had come to look for me. I was happy. I quickly got up, got dressed, and slipped away, not even telling the nurse so she wouldn't tell me I wasn't okay yet.

I had just stepped out when I bumped into someone. "Are you blind?" a cold voice snapped at me, making me raise my head in anger. "You are the blind one," I answered back. Who was this person with a brick chest running into me this morning? I raised my head and was met with that familiar dark gaze that always sent shivers down my spine.

Drey!! "W… What are you doing here?" I managed to say these few words.

"It seems you are fine; there was no need to bother myself." Why was he saying "bother himself"? I don't care what's wrong with this person who's always like ice. I apologized and tried to run away. I wanted to catch the earliest train, but Drey held my hand, making me freeze. I looked at his face, and I couldn't read any emotion. Then he let go of my hand, saying, "You should leave quickly; it's for your safety."

I brushed past him without looking back; a part of me wanted to take one last look at his face, and unknowingly, his gaze reminded me of the black wolf I had seen twice.

From across the street, a man pressed a finger to his earpiece.

"Boss, we've spotted her," he murmured. "She's about to leave the city. What should we do next?"

I felt like someone was watching me. Every time I turned, it felt like I was just being paranoid about this city, and I increased my pace. Each step meant I was closer to my freedom. But I couldn't shake this feeling as goosebumps filled my body. I looked at everybody that brushed past me with extra care, and if I noticed anything, I was ready to fight to the death.

When I arrived at the train station, it was bustling as I sighed in relief, bought my ticket, and was about to board the train when an elderly woman begged me to please help her to get her bag . I hesitated, but she was old and was traveling alone.

I agreed to walk to get her luggage when I felt a cloth on my mouth, making my scream muffled as I kicked and saw the train leave from the corner of my eyes until I slipped into unconsciousness.

Cold was the first thing I felt when I opened my eyes. I blinked, confused, as memories of me being dragged away from the train station flooded my mind. I tried to get up, but I realized my hands and legs were tied to the chair. My heart sank, not knowing what type of trouble I had entered now.

Just then two burly men worked in "She's finally awake," while the other one said, "Let's inform the boss." "Blondie," one of them, walked up to me, touching my face with a perverted smile on his face.

I turned my face away, disgusted by this man. "Why did you kidnap me?" I asked.

"Don't worry, when our boss gets here, you'll know." "Let me go; I promised not to tell anyone," I begged, but neither of them looked at me as they both went out, shutting the door closed.

No one came after I lost count of how many hours had passed. My wrists burned from being tied. I tried to loosen the rope, but I ended up hurting myself more.

My throat was dry, and I was beginning to get hungry. I hadn't eaten anything since I missed my mom. I thought I could have been by her side by now.

The sound of a door opening broke my thoughts. I raised my head as a man stepped in, putting on a dark tailored suit and a mask on his face, but his voice carried a hint of mockery.

"So this is the famous blonde," he said, his eyes dragging over me like I was something to be exhibited. "The one who seems to catch the eyes of Drey."

My blood ran cold at the sound of that name. "Drey?" I asked him if my kidnapping was related to him.

"You can be of use to me," he added, making my body cringe. I hated being used by others.

"Let me go!" I screamed. I was becoming angry, and I felt my senses heighten. I could hear every breath and sound clearly in the room. I wondered what was happening as my body began to heat up.

Then I heard the man say, "I see; that drug is sure speeding up the process."

"What drugs?" I said in between muffled growls, surprised by my voice.

I looked up to see this man smiling as my heart sank with anger. I snapped.

A low, guttural growl escaped my throat before I even realized it. I had torn myself free as my hand grabbed the neck of one of his men. While the other lurched at me, I flung him while twisting the arms of the other backwards as the sound of bone cracking filled the room and the screams of two mature men.

Within moments, both men were unconscious, sprawled across the floor, groaning. My heart beat rapidly, and my hands shook not from fear but from the surge of raw energy I could no longer contain.

"What was happening to me?" I cried out.

The boss clapped, smiling mockingly, from across the room. "Impressive," he said. "Very impressive." He leaned closer, tilting his head. "But your little display could cost you a lot."

I froze. His next words were like ice in my veins.

"My men… are in your mother's hospital room. One wrong move, and she dies." He brought out his phone, showing me a picture of my mom in the hospital At that moment my eyes turned red as anger, fear, and the power I knew nothing of collided, but I did nothing, my hand shaking at the thought of my mom being in danger.

"You have a choice," he said. "Calm yourself… or lose her."

I forced myself to breathe, to calm the wild energy surging through me. I had a lot of questions, but first I had to focus on saving my mom. "What… what do you want?" I spat, my voice trembling but defiant.

The man leaned back, his eyes glinting behind the mask. A slow, deliberate smile curved his lips.

"I want… Drey."

The words hung in the room. I froze. Why did he want Drey, and what was my concern here?
