"No, no," said Peg, obviously upset. "Her teacher said Maddie was there for roll call. About a half an hour after class started, she said she wasn't feeling well. She asked to go to the nurse's office. So, I checked in with Nurse Montgomery. She says Madeline never arrived."
"How long ago did she leave her class?" asked Colt as fear opened up a pit in his stomach.
Peg licked her lips as the color in her face drained. "School starts at 9:05. Maddie left for the nurse's office around 9:30 or so."
"You saying my little girl's been missing for two hours, and no one noticed?" screeched Socie.
"It's all right, sweetheart," soothed Bill. "We'll find her. She's gotta be somewhere in the school, right?"
"We'll start the search here," said Colt. "Ms. Peg, can you corral a few people to help us
check every nook and cranny?"
She nodded and picked up the phone receiver.
